Chapter 3: Blue Love and Death?
Shen Wanjun retorted without any politeness, her fair face filled with contempt, "Do you need to handle my family's assets for me?"
"What do you mean your family property? You are my daughter, what's yours is mine." Zhong Ming tried hard to speak properly, but her mouth wouldn't obey her.
Wang Fang glared at him, and he reluctantly softened his voice, saying, "I'm your father, so just listen to me. Would I ever harm you?"
Shen Wanjun clasped her hands together, leaned back on the sofa, and pouted, saying, "That's not necessarily true."
Zhong Ming was furious and raised his hand to hit someone, but Shen Wanjun leaned forward and brought her delicate face close to hers: "Come on, hit me, hit me here."
"If you dare touch a hair on my head, my uncle will kill you." Shen Wanjun said this with great confidence.
The Shen family has been wealthy and powerful for hundreds of years, and is now the richest family in Shanghai.
Seeing this, Wang Fang stepped in to play the good guy, saying, "We're all family, let's talk nicely and not get physical."
He gently patted Zhong Ming's back to soothe him, then turned to Shen Wanjun and said.
"Look at you, you've made your dad so angry. You're such a nagging girl, your dad was just trying to be kind and keep those things safe for you."
"I'll return it to you once the storm passes. He didn't steal it from you, why are you so worried?"
"That's right, that's right, you brat, don't be ungrateful." Zhong Yaozu interjected angrily.
In his eyes, Shen Wanjun's things belonged to Zhong Ming, and Zhong Ming's things naturally belonged to him.
Shen Wanjun took a sip of tea, spat out three mouthfuls of tea foam, and said, "What the hell is this?"
"I don't appreciate kindness? Do you even have any kindness at all?"
"Hey, Mr. Zhong, I'd like to ask you, what are your plans for handling my assets?"
Zhong Ming's face darkened further when he was called by the surname Zhong, and he was about to speak.
Shen Wanjun waved her hand, looking as if she knew him inside and out, "You don't need to tell me, I already know. Isn't it just your family running away to Hong Kong?"
She was familiar with this plot; it was the same old story.
Zhong Ming and Wang Fang were surprised. How did she know about their family's plans?
Who leaked the information?
The two men simultaneously looked at their carefree, uninhibited son, Zhong Yaozu, who was inexplicably caught in the crossfire: "Why are you looking at me? I didn't say anything."
Zhong Chuchu gritted her teeth. What difference would it make if Shen Wanjun found out now that things had come to this?
She covered her head and said, "I'm not leaving. I'll stay and keep you company."
Shen Wanjun glanced at her indifferently. What was that thing with blood streaming from its head and tears in its eyes saying? It was disgusting.
Shen Wanjun felt as uncomfortable as if she had swallowed a fly, and she couldn't help but gag a few times.
Seeing this, Zhong Ming jumped up in anger: "Your sister is so good to you, and this is how you treat her?"
They had already planned for the whole family to take a boat to Hong Kong by smuggling, but Zhong Chuchu said she wouldn't go and that they should go on their own. She was going to marry Song Zhan and go with him to the army.
Zhong Ming thought she had lost her mind. The situation was so serious; if they didn't run, they were just waiting to die.
He still couldn't help but advise, "Chuchu, I know you mean well, but you can't waste your time on an ungrateful person."
"Dad, my sister is so lonely all by herself. Don't worry, we'll be fine."
Of course she'll be fine; she'll steal Shen Wanjun's man and everything from her.
She didn't care whether Shen Wanjun was alright or not.
Zhong Chuchu continued acting, with the father and daughter pulling each other back and forth.
Shen Wanjun rolled her eyes. She didn't know better; she thought they were watching a tragic love story.
Waves of nausea washed over her, and she stood up: "You guys keep acting, I'm not going to keep up."
"Stop." Zhong Ming stood up and walked up to her, holding out his hand: "Where are your bankbook and safe deposit box key?"
"A good dog doesn't block the way, and a good donkey doesn't bray."
Shen Wanjun pushed him away, picked up her small bag, and walked out.
"Stop!" This time it was Zhong Chuchu who spoke.
Shen Wanjun turned her head, "Don't you have any other lines?"
Everyone was yelling "Stop!" and "Stop!" but she didn't actually say "Stop!"
"You broke my head, we need to settle this score." Zhong Chuchu clutched her still-bleeding forehead. "Either we settle this privately and I'll pay you back, or..."
She sneered, "I'll call the police and have you arrested and punished."
Shen Wanjun retreated repeatedly: "Wow, I'm so scared. Report it, report it now, or I'll look down on you."
"You...aren't you afraid of eating peanuts?" Zhong Chuchu was no longer calm. How could she not be afraid?
Given her gentle and easily manipulated nature, shouldn't she obediently hand over her family fortune upon hearing this?
"You want to eat peanuts for hitting someone? Then you should make a law!" Shen Wanjun laughed wildly.
"Yaozu, go find the police quickly." Zhong Chuchu stopped pretending. As a reborn woman, she couldn't handle a stupid capitalist's daughter.
"Shen Wanjun, you wait. When the police come, you'll go to jail even if you don't eat peanuts." Zhong Yaozu said this harshly before running out quickly.
Not long after, two people from the police station arrived, a man and a woman.
"It's her! She broke my sister's head!" Zhong Yaozu shouted, pointing at Shen Wanjun.
Zhong Chuchu grabbed the police officer and cried, "Police officers, you can't let this kind of bad element who disrupts social order and undermines unity get away with it."
Shen Wanjun raised an eyebrow, "Wow, what a big hat, you just blurted it out."
She said innocently, "You're my sister, why would I hit you?"
Zhong Chuchu burst into tears: "You're talking nonsense! You just hit me with a golf club!"
"Words are no proof." Shen Wanjun shrugged. In this day and age, there are no surveillance cameras or cell phones. What can she do if she insists on denying it?
"A golf club, with my daughter's blood on it," Zhong Ming said. Since Shen Wanjun wouldn't let him have his way, she wouldn't let him have it easy either.
He won't consider family ties when it comes to personal gain.
"Where's the golf club?" the male police officer asked.
"I'll go get it." Zhong Yaozu ran upstairs and then ran back down, his face contorted in pain.
"The thing is gone," he whispered.
"Impossible, I'll go look for it." Wang Fang ran upstairs, but found nothing after a long time.
Shen Wanjun simply nestled into the sofa and leisurely flipped through a newspaper.
The Zhong family, accompanied by the police, searched the house thoroughly, but naturally found nothing.
The Zhong family was shocked. It was a ghost! That thing was just inside the house a moment ago!
Zhong Ming vaguely felt that something was wrong, but he didn't have time to think about it in detail. "I saw Shen Wanjun hit my daughter with my own eyes."
As soon as one person spoke up, the Zhong family members all echoed, "That's right, we all saw it."
“You’re all in cahoots, slandering me. You won’t get away with this either,” Shen Wanjun cried out, accusing herself of being wronged.
Upon seeing this, Zhong Chuchu clutched her head and acted as if she were dying. Wang Fang joined in the commotion, saying that her daughter was disfigured and would never be able to get married.
The Zhong family and Shen Wanjun had a surprisingly similar goal at this moment: to make a big fuss and leave no way out for each other.
The police were at a loss and had no choice but to take everyone to the police station.
As night fell, the wiry figure of the scarred man appeared at the entrance of the Zhong family mansion.
"Brothers, let's do something big tonight!"
