Chapter 60 Don't engage in feudal superstition
“What’s so interesting about home?” Song Juan said, “I want to go with you.”
Before Song Zhan could say anything more in protest, she climbed into the car and sat down.
Her obedient eyes held a hint of defiance.
“Staying at home is quite boring, so let Juan’er come with us,” Shen Wanjun said.
Song Juan raised her head, looking smug.
She knew her sister-in-law would side with her.
Whether her brother is related to her or not is unimportant, but her sister-in-law is definitely the closest person she could be.
The jeep started, and Dang waved to Hong and shouted, "Be careful on the road, and come back soon."
The car had already driven quite a distance, and she didn't know if Shen Wanjun had heard what she said.
Dang Xianghong clutched her chest and said, "Old Li, I still have a bad feeling about them. Do you think something might happen to them on the way?"
Old Li rolled his eyes at her: "Shut your stinking mouth. They're just going to see a doctor. What could possibly happen?"
In the best-case scenario, if the doctors there are competent, Song Zhan's leg will recover.
The worst that could happen is that the trip was wasted.
Dang Xianghong lightly patted her mouth and quickly spat three times at the side.
"Look at my mouth."
What nonsense are you talking about?
The sky was overcast, and visibility was very low early in the morning.
The driver drove carefully, but Huang Ya continued to chatter on and on until the driver was too tired to talk anymore.
He then turned to talk to Song Zhan, but Song Zhan remained aloof and didn't reply much.
Huang Ya chatted with Shen Wanjun again, and Shen Wanjun was quite the chatterbox.
Huang Ya didn't dare to say much to her, while Song Zhan glared at him coldly from the side, his disdainful gaze carrying a hint of threat.
After saying a few words, Huang Ya shut up.
Battalion Commander Song is terrifying; he doesn't allow anyone to chat with their loved one.
The road was long, and Huang Ya was so bored that he could only chat with Song Juan.
Song Juan is not very talkative. Most of the time she just smiles and nods, occasionally showing a shocked expression.
The stories Huang Ya told her, about all sorts of things from all over the country, truly broadened the horizons of this country girl.
There were so many interesting things she didn't know, and so many places she had never been.
According to Huang Ya, life is colorful and human nature is complex.
Huang Ya felt secretly pleased when Song Juan occasionally cast envious glances at him.
This is the perfect listener he's been looking for—one who doesn't interrupt or steal the spotlight.
Although it was just quiet listening, it still provided a lot of emotional value.
Along the way, Huang Ya talked animatedly, his mouth dry, but he didn't notice Song Zhan's murderous gaze.
That guy is awful; he kept chatting with his wife.
Now he's contacting his sister again. It's just a ride, why is he making such a fuss?
Can't you be quiet? It's so noisy.
Shen Wanjun also heard many interesting stories; Huang Ya was quite an interesting person.
His personality is actually quite compatible with Hao Yan's.
Both of them are talkative and can talk a lot, so they probably can talk about the same things.
However, Hao Yan is now married, while Huang Ya is still a bachelor.
Shen Wanjun asked, "Dr. Huang, do you want a boyfriend? I can introduce you to someone."
"You? Introduce me?" Huang Ya smiled and said, "No need."
Shen Wanjun is a military wife, and her social circle consists of military wives as well. What kind of people could she possibly know?
"So you already have a boyfriend?"
"Oh, no," Huang Ya said. "Then, sister-in-law, please keep an eye out for me if you find a suitable candidate."
He felt embarrassed to refuse the kindness, so he could only agree to it for now.
The jeep stopped in front of a provincial hospital, and after the relevant documents were checked, they were able to enter smoothly.
Song Juan walked and looked around, her eyes almost unable to keep up.
"Sister-in-law, this is a high-class hospital. So many doctors and equipment, it's definitely better than our old hospital."
The building is very tall, the steps are very high, and even the sculptures at the entrance are frighteningly tall.
Song Zhan suddenly spoke up: "When you're out and about, be careful what you say and do."
This is neither the countryside nor a military compound.
They came from out of town, and many eyes were on them.
Song Juan retorted, "I didn't say anything wrong."
She was praising him, and she didn't understand why her brother was angry again.
Shen Wanjun patted Song Juan on the shoulder and said, "You're right, your brother is right too."
You can say anything in private, but it's best to be cautious in your words and actions when speaking to others.
She then said to Huang Ya, "Juan'er didn't mean anything by it."
Huang Ya shrugged and said indifferently, "She's right, the military compound just can't compare to this place."
His hospital was small, not to mention the lack of proper equipment.
Otherwise, Song Zhan wouldn't have come here for treatment.
Song Juan stuck out her tongue. So that's what her brother meant by being careful with his words and actions.
She was only thinking about her own happiness and didn't consider Dr. Huang's feelings at all.
“Dr. Huang, I’m not saying… you can’t do it, you’re very capable, it’s just…”
Song Juan started to stutter because she was nervous. The more she stuttered, the more anxious she became, and she couldn't speak clearly for a long time.
Huang Ya smiled and said, "Alright, I understand, stop talking."
If he continued, Battalion Commander Song would eat him alive; the man's face hadn't looked good since he left the house.
"You're a girl, don't keep asking yourself if you can do it or not."
Song Zhanqi almost gave Song Juan a sex education lesson on the spot.
Song Juan glared at Song Zhan, "You're so capable, fine. I won't say anything more."
She didn't take Song Zhan's words to heart, but she paid more attention to Huang Ya's.
Dr. Huang told her to stop talking. Was it because she was talking too much and annoying him?
That shouldn't be the case; Dr. Huang had been chatting with her the whole way here.
Why did he change his personality so soon after arriving here?
After Huang Ya and Song Zhan completed all the necessary examinations, they finally received the report.
He looked at it with delight and said, "Battalion Commander Song, these data points are different from before."
"Does it mean things have gotten better?" Song Zhan asked.
"Yes, the data values are all within the normal range." Huang Ya looked at the report again and again.
She even rubbed her eyes and showed it to Shen Wanjun again: "Sister-in-law, do you think it's true?"
Shen Wanjun thought to herself that she couldn't possibly understand it, but the normal range was clearly marked on the report.
After comparing it with the previous test results, she nodded: "It seems so."
Huang Ya excitedly grabbed Shen Wanjun's shoulders and shook her vigorously: "Sister-in-law, do you know what this means?"
Shen Wanjun shook her head, and Huang Ya said, "Battalion Commander Song, there is hope that you can stand up again!"
Song Zhan coughed twice, "Let go of my wife first."
Huang Ya glanced at him, "Brother, you've got the point wrong."
"Really? That's wonderful!" Song Juan exclaimed excitedly, even kneeling down and clasping her hands together in prayer. "Amitabha, thank God!"
Huang Ya picked her up and whispered, "Don't engage in feudal superstitions."
Song Juan was startled and stammered, "Is this feudal superstition?"
Even thanking Buddha isn't enough? But that's how everyone in the village does things.
Seeing that she didn't take his words seriously, Huang Ya's gaze hardened: "Yes, we can't do these things."
Song Zhan: "Please let go of my sister."
Amidst the commotion, Shen Wanjun spotted two familiar figures.
It looks like Zhong Chuchu and Jiang Weiguo. What are they doing here?
