Leaving Anju
To help Guixu, they need to prove that there are no rebels in Fenghuoyingshuanglou, but that's impossible.
How could something the emperor has firmly insisted on be wrong?
Let's change our approach and subtly shift the focus.
If the Vermilion Bird Pavilion wants to capture rebels at the Maple Fire Reflecting Frost Pavilion, then give them the rebels they want.
"Do you have anything that can prove your identity? Like the tokens of the Four Provinces Sect and the Vermilion Bird Pavilion?"
"No."
"Then we'll have to frame them," Han Jiang said.
Gui Xu said in a high-pitched voice, "Isn't this inappropriate? I'm a righteous and good person."
"Stop pretending. He's already framed you, can't you frame him back?" Han Jiang didn't dare to offer any advice; she didn't want to be buried with Gui Xu.
"I didn't frame anyone; I did participate in the rebellion."
"You suddenly have a surge of righteousness?" Han Jiang said angrily.
Gui Xu shifted his gaze, avoiding Han Jiang's eyes, and changed the subject, saying, "I've got it! Are you familiar with the Demon Clan's Crown Prince? We can ask him for help, using spiritual power to sense whether there are any rebels. He's even encountered the rebels before."
"Sorry, we just broke up," Han Jiang thought to herself.
"He probably won't help; he hates me right now."
"Why? Because he paid for the crystal coffin for you, but you haven't paid him back?"
"That's part of the reason." Han Jiang sighed, forgetting that she still had to repay the money. She hoped that Cang Jingqi wouldn't remember, as she simply couldn't afford to repay it now.
Gui Xu continued, "It's really annoying when someone owes you money and doesn't pay it back. So, to ask him for help, I have to pay him back first? Forget it, asking for money isn't a good idea."
They don't look poor, but they're so stingy. It's true that the richer they are, the stingier they become. Han Jiang said, "You really can't escape the charges, but do you think the Vermilion Bird Pavilion can escape? Is there any way to pin the label of traitor on the Vermilion Bird Pavilion?... You said you were going to Xuanzhou to find a way to survive. Is there anything in that tomb that could help you live?"
"Actually, it's like this: I used the remaining material from the fusion of human and demon to create two bodies. I gave one to Cang Jingmo, and I wanted to keep the other one for myself. I wanted to commit suicide in Xuanzhou and then use the magic array in the Xuanzhou tomb to resurrect myself with a new identity."
"You also used the magic array in the Xuanzhou Tomb to resurrect Cang Jingmo?"
"No, that magic array has a cycle of use, once a year. Otherwise, the power in the array will not be enough. It was already used when the one in the building revived Cang Jingmo, so we can only go to the one in Xuanzhou."
Hanjiang: "Can't it be redrawn?"
"I lost the book."
"If I save you, could you help me resurrect someone?"
“Sure, but we’ll have to wait until the cycle of that formation in the building is over, or until you can find the book.” Gui Xu readily agreed.
The cold descends and calms the mind: it helps to restore order and revive warmth.
From the moment Cang Jingqi left, Han Jiang realized that it was impossible for her to let go of Cang Jingqi and turn to pursuing Cang Jingmo in the short term. She could only pin her hopes on Gui Xu, to change the order, to revive Wen Xu first, and then complete the conquest mission.
If Wen Xu can be resurrected, the system will likely return to its original host. In that case, Han Jiang only needs to wait for Wen Xu to complete the mission.
“Go to the Four Continents Sect. My master faced off against the Vermilion Bird Pavilion when he was in the Demon Palace; moreover, both elders know that the Vermilion Bird Pavilion was involved in the rebels. If they attack Maple Flame Reflecting Frost Tower, we'll attack the Vermilion Bird Pavilion. We'll prove ourselves the same way they do,” Han Jiang said.
"They will say that the disciples involved have been dealt with."
"Then you should also deal with the relevant disciples," Han Jiang said. "Besides that emperor, the judges also include the princes of the Four Continents Sect and the Demon Clan. He thought the Second Prince was far away in the Demon Palace and asked him to participate in the extermination, but in fact, the Second Prince participated in the previous war-stopping operation from the very beginning."
"Your Highness?"
The Vermilion Bird Pavilion was unaware that Amai was Cang Jingmo. Even though Cang Jingqi had told him the truth about the rebels, he hadn't personally participated. With a little sweet talk from the Vermilion Bird Pavilion, Cang Jingmo might not side with them, but it would be enough for him to stand against the Maple Fire Frost Pavilion. Coincidentally, Cang Jingqi left the Demon Palace, and no one would remind Cang Jingmo.
The Vermilion Bird Pavilion is quite well-informed.
“That’s right. But I have one request: you must settle me in halfway, and then you can go see my master, but don’t mention my name.” Han Jiang didn’t know Han Tian’s condition, and she didn’t dare to go see him; she might die if she tried.
Why did you ask me to see your master?
"We had a fight, okay? Just don't mention me again," Han Jiang said, making things up.
"I have some connection with Han Tian, but are you really sure Cang Jingmo will help me?"
"Sure."
"Alright. I'll drop you off when we get to Mizhou City at dawn, but I don't have any money to give you."
"You, the esteemed master of one of the three great immortals, have no money?"
Gui Xu: "You went out without any money? Just manage on your own for now, and ask your master for it later—it seems we're in trouble..."
The wind whistled past their ears as a dark shadow caught up with them.
"I knew the master was going to run away, but isn't the master being a bit unfair? Running away alone, what will happen to the disciples in the tower?" Many people have been replaced in the Vermilion Bird Pavilion, but Chi Jin was not only not replaced, but was promoted instead.
Han Jiang, hiding behind Gui Xu, suddenly regretted punching Chi Jin. It seemed like this cycle of revenge was endless.
“Run? When would I run? I’ve been cooped up in seclusion for too long, so I’m just coming out to clear my head,” Gui Xu said.
"Taking a stroll? And bringing along a disciple from the Four Continents Sect?" Chi Jin circled around to the side, staring at Han Jiang.
Gui Xu ignored Chi Jin's words, told Han Jiang behind him to hurry up, and uttered an incantation. The flying talisman immediately rose up, broke through the encirclement, and advanced at high speed.
Han Jiang knelt on the talisman, lowering his center of gravity, and hugged Gui Xu's waist from behind with one hand while holding the flying talisman with the other.
The people from the Vermilion Bird Pavilion threw out talismans in an attempt to stop Gui Xu from escaping.
The messy, illegible talismans brushed past them without touching either of them, demonstrating Gui Xu's considerable skill in controlling the flying talismans.
A burnt smell wafted through the air, and Han Jiang turned around to find a flame burning on one corner of the flying talisman.
"Return to the Lord..." Han Jiang's voice trembled, and the flying talisman gradually lost its balance.
Gui Xu said, "I smell it, we might fall! Let go when I count to three!"
"Three!" she said, lowering the altitude of the flying talisman, but still moving very fast, and took out two talismans and stuck them on Han Jiang's body: "Two!"
I could vaguely see out of the corner of my eye that the dark figure behind me was still chasing after me relentlessly.
Gui Xu scattered dozens of talisman papers around him: "One!"
The talisman exploded around Han Jiang, mixing with firelight and smoke, making people choke and squint.
It's even harder to see in the dark.
Han Jiang fell from the flying talisman the moment she released Gui Xu, but she didn't feel weightless. Instead, she felt her body become as light as a feather and floated down to the ground from mid-air.
Only then did she realize which two talismans Gui Xu had affixed to her: an invisibility talisman and a levitation talisman.
The smoke in the air had not yet dissipated, and the noise was quite loud.
Chi Jin's voice rang out: "Han Jiang, a disciple of the Four Continents Sect, colluded with the rebels. He is considered an accomplice and shall be executed without exception."
As the cold descends, bundle up in your clothes. There's a large forest nearby, so hiding inside would likely make you hard to catch.
Gui Xu had disappeared somewhere, but Han Jiang felt there was no need to worry. That woman seemed capable and would definitely survive.
All she needed to do was hide and avoid being killed by the Vermilion Bird Pavilion. Once Gui Xu proved his innocence, she could go to Maple Fire Reflecting Frost Tower to find him. She would spend the night in the forest, and then go to any town in Mi Prefecture to stay for a few days after dawn.
With his goal clear, Hanjiang lifted his foot and walked deeper into the forest.
In early spring, the branches on the trees are not yet lush, making it somewhat difficult to hide.
Occasionally, the shadowy figures of small animals would dart out from beside him, startling Han Jiang each time. To avoid being discovered, Han Jiang would cover his mouth tightly.
In the pitch-black forest, Han Jiang wasn't afraid of ghosts; there were no ghosts in this book, so there wouldn't be any.
She is more afraid of people.
Is there any human trafficker in this story?
An old man living deep in the mountains, unable to find a wife, what if he gets caught and has his legs broken and is locked up? Han Jiang thought of some social news and felt a chill run down his spine.
Wait a minute, in spring, won't all those hibernating animals come out to forage? They've been sleeping all winter and are probably hungry.
Hanjiang shook his head, trying to clear his head and stop scaring himself.
The surroundings were quiet; the disciples of the Vermilion Bird Pavilion had disappeared without a trace, having gone to search for them.
In the latter half of the night, the moon was obscured by clouds.
Han Jiang brought nothing with her; the dagger Cang Jingqi had once given her was left in her room in the Demon Palace.
Unable to see anything clearly, Han Jiang moved forward using the momentum of her leaning body. She had no direction, but dared not stop.
To dispel her fear of the unknown, she gripped the tree tightly with every step she took, reminding herself that she was not alone.
A tiny sound is amplified infinitely.
Han Jiang stopped in his tracks, and it seemed as if wolves were howling.
Are there wolves in Mizhou? Han Jiang wondered to himself.
She quickened her pace unconsciously, as if something was following her.
The cold snap brought me to a screeching halt, and I took off running in another direction.
Something was getting closer and closer behind her, but she didn't dare to turn around.
When Han Jiang heard what sounded like someone ahead, he thought he was saved. But when he got closer, he realized it was a disciple of the Vermilion Bird Pavilion.
This is a dead end.
Han Jiang turned around and met the wolf's staring eyes.
Either way, he was going to die, so he charged forward! Han Jiang continued running forward and bumped into a disciple of the Vermilion Bird Pavilion.
"It's Han Jiang! Quick, grab her!" someone exclaimed excitedly.
Han Jiang didn't stop running; instead, he continued running desperately. Suddenly, a wolf leaped out of the bushes behind him and pounced.
She fell to her side, rolled on the ground, trying to avoid the wolf's attack.
"Wolves!"
The wolves hiding behind rushed out, and one of them bit Han Jiang's calf hard.
Despite the pain, Han Jiang grabbed a stone and smashed it hard on the wolf's head. The wolf, in pain, released its grip.
The disciples of the Vermilion Bird Pavilion raised their torches and aimed them at the wolf pack.
Don't stop! Han Jiang got up and used the people from the Vermilion Bird Pavilion to escape the wolf pack's sight.
Unexpectedly, the group caught up with them very quickly.
Blood flowed all the way, and he was exhausted. Hanjiang leaned against a tree and slid down to the ground.
The moon emerged from the clouds, and its light fell on Hanjiang's face.
She looked up at the moon.
She was just as embarrassed on the day she first saw the moon in this world.
From the moment I arrived here, to Wen Xu's death, and then to my argument with Cang Jingqi, nothing good ever happened.
As the cold descends, I breathe softly, my head feels heavy and I can't lift it up, and the moon in my eyes gradually blurs.
It's so cold; the temperature dropped in the latter half of the night.
The white cloak he was wearing was already filthy.
Is he going to die? Or is he going home? Han Jiang is delirious.
It seems... I saw Cang Jingqi...
"I'm sorry... Cang Jingqi... I miss you so much..."
