System transfer

System transfer

The sound of cold air descending came from behind my ears.

Warm tears welled up in her eyes.

She didn't know how to describe her feelings at that moment. The person on her back was still alive, and there were other people like her living in this world. They were so close that they could feel each other's heartbeats.

She had thought about death, she had thought about leaving, but she never imagined that someone would say, "You are a very good person."

Perhaps she had already wavered long ago.

"Hanjiang, I'm not a good person, I'll leave you here..." Wenxu said.

"If you wanted to abandon me, you would have done so long ago..."

"If we fail to complete the mission, we won't be able to go home even if we get out alive."

Wenxu's words sounded like he was sulking.

Han Jiang said softly, "Then we'll live here... Sister Wen, it's good enough that we're alive. I thought we were going to die down there..."

She was breathing heavily and speaking haltingly.

"Do you know how I came to be in this world?" Wen Xu suddenly asked.

Han Jiang didn't answer, but Wen Xu said to himself, "I jumped off a building."

Han Jiang tightened her grip on Wen Xu's body, grabbing his clothes and gently tugging at them.

It sounded like comfort, and it sounded like concern.

"I took the college entrance exam twice, but I still didn't get the passing score. A month before the exam the third time, I jumped off my house. I thought I was dead, but I didn't expect to be alive."

Wen Xu thought she would never tell Han Jiang her story, but surprisingly, she felt relieved when she spoke of this painful past.

The heavy stone weighing on her heart didn't rise; instead, it melted away inside her, turning into a long breath of stale air that she exhaled.

"The system said that as long as I complete the mission, I can not only be resurrected, but also get a wish. To reach the score I've always dreamed of and move towards the future I've been longing for, I'm willing to do anything for it." Wen Xu said with a bitter smile, "So I lied to you. I said I could take you home and use you to distract the female lead so that I could win over the male lead."

Her wish had nothing to do with the cold from the very beginning.

Wen Xu stopped and rested on the stone steps, catching his breath before continuing uphill: "My parents always hoped I would succeed. I studied desperately, taught not to care about others, only to focus on my own studies. I failed the college entrance exam the first time, and my father didn't hesitate to make me retake it. But how could someone like me, a failure, succeed? I messed up the college entrance exam, and even messed up my assignment. In this book I know so well, I still can't do well..."

She had no time to notice the tears on her face, sniffling as she poured out everything.

She was in so much pain that she kept all her emotions bottled up inside.

When I was very young, the first lesson I was taught was to be patient.

She endured every night of studying late into the night, then told outsiders that she had never tried; she endured all the secrets she had discovered, not letting her parents know that she had heard every word of disappointment; she endured the tears that threatened to burst forth when failure occurred, showing those around her how strong she was and how she would never fall.

She can solve all the difficult problems on the exam paper, and she can handle everything in life; she must be able to solve all the difficult problems on the exam paper, and she must be able to handle everything in life.

She couldn't make a mistake, Wenxu told herself.

"I have hurt many people and done many wrong things..."

"Sister Wen, I can tell you're a top student just by listening to your voice..." Han Jiang said, "If you're a loser, then this salted fish might as well just give up on life..."

"I did not mean that……"

Han Jiang laughed and said, "That's not what I meant... People who get full marks have their own way of living, and people who get 80% have their own way of living. I'm content with Lesser Fullness..."

"What about those who failed?"

"Of course they have their own way of living. Sister Wen, how can you be a loser? Who's going to judge?... Sister Wen, cheer up..."

Wen Xu stood frozen at the top of the stairs.

The area above collapsed severely, and the stairwell entrance was buried underground.

Wen Xu thought that going uphill was their hope for survival, but she never expected that these stone steps would become their graves.

She laid Han Jiang on the ground and leaned against her. Han Jiang's eyes were half-closed, struggling to stay conscious; it was only a matter of time before she passed out.

"Hanjiang, what was your original name?" Wen Xu felt incredibly relieved at that moment.

She was exhausted from the struggle. She had already died once, so it was just a matter of dying again.

"Cold Lesser Fullness"

“No wonder you advised me to be at peace during the Lesser Fullness of Grain. Your parents must have thought the same thing when they named you. That’s wonderful,” Wen Xu said. “Actually, my mom gave me a pretty good name too. My name is Wen Xu, which means warm.”

Hanjiang doesn't respond to every question; Wenxu is the one who speaks most of the time.

"That's rare, you're even quieter than me. Xiaoman, why haven't the male and female leads come to our rescue yet? Is it because we're supporting characters? Or are they also stuck at the stairwell?"

The stone slabs overhead began to loosen, and something walked by.

Someone has come to rescue them! Wen Xu stood up excitedly and pushed upwards with all her might.

The next moment, my heart turned ice-cold.

They weren't human, they were wild beasts from the outer city!

The wild beasts wouldn't normally enter the inner city because the prince inside the castle held considerable power, preventing the beasts from approaching. Now that the castle has collapsed and the prince is dead underground, the beasts, having nothing to fear, boldly ventured in.

A crack was carved into the stone slab, and the beast's eyes stared intently at Wenxu.

Wenxu picked up Hanjiang and walked down the stairs, putting her down after turning several corners.

The exit leading to the surface is being dug open by several wild beasts working together.

Wen Xu gripped her sword: "Xiao Man, if we can leave here alive, your sister Wen will definitely take you home. This time, I won't lie to you."

She turned back to the stairwell, waiting for a glimmer of hope.

The beast had half its body inside the cave entrance when Wen Xu cut it off with a single sword stroke.

She leaped with all her might and broke through the hole.

Wen Xu couldn't remember how many he had killed. Endless power gathered on his sword, killing them as soon as they came, and then they would come back.

Hold this place safe and bring Xiaoman home.

Her conviction had never been stronger, more resolute than when she jumped from the building.

She made a huge decision to die, but then spent a long time deciding to live again.

Perhaps she wanted to start a new life back in Yinzhou.

Until the east began to show the first light of dawn.

These beasts, cursed by the Black Sea, die when exposed to sunlight; the moment the sun shines down, they all turn into black smoke and vanish.

Great news, Xiaoman, we can survive.

The morning light fell into the cave, and the stone steps were no longer gray, but as if they were plated with a layer of gold.

"Sister Wen..." Han Jiang finally regained some strength and managed to sit up against the wall.

Wen Xu stood in the light and smiled, "Xiaoman, it's dawn..."

Without any warning, she fell forward and tumbled down the stairs.

Hanjiang scrambled up and caught Wenxu; the two of them tumbled down several flights of stairs before coming to a stop.

Wen Xu was covered in blood, and his shoulder had many bloody bite marks from wild animals.

Han Jiang's tears flowed uncontrollably.

"Don't cry, it's actually okay, it doesn't hurt... We can go home now..." She smiled, her expression seemingly happier than ever before.

"Sister Wen!" Han Jiang cried out in anguish, her hands trembling as she checked Wen Xu's breathing and pressed her chest repeatedly, trying to hear her heartbeat.

But there was nothing to hear, only deathly silence.

The body in Han Jiang's arms gradually grew cold, so she couldn't help but hug her tighter. A "ding-dong" sound came from her ear, followed by an unfamiliar voice: "System detected that the original host has died. Automatic transfer to the nearest host is in progress—transfer successful, binding to the new host successful!"
