Rainy nights are truly blind.

Rainy nights are truly blind.

Yan Huanyue said in a low voice, "Aren't you supposed to be very capable? How come you can't even untie a rope?"

Pei Xuanzhi struggled with his hands. The Crying Spirit Blade could certainly sever the belt around his wrist, but...

"I'm afraid I'll break your belt."

Yan Huanyue nestled against his chest, inhaling the pleasant fragrance emanating from his clothes, and suggested, "How about this, since we're both in pain, let's be fair: you let go of me, and I'll let go of you."

Pei Xuanzhi slowly tightened his grip on the excess belt in his palm, and said gently, "Since that's the case, it's best not to untie it... But why do you think I'm in pain?"

Yan Huanyue looked up at him, now his neck and below were sunken into her shadow, the moonlight shining on his face, gilding him with a layer of cold white light.

She had sensed his repression and urgency long ago. For a succubus who had already come of age, being held like this, unable to do anything, wasn't it painful? If it wasn't painful, then why was she sobbing?

He's definitely the most stubborn person on the whole body.

She subtly moved her leg again.

Pei Xuanzhi's breath caught in his throat for a moment. He couldn't help but tilt his head back to feel the lingering sensation of his soul soaring. Two tear tracks slanted down from the corners of his eyes and flowed into his temples.

The golden mist that was wrapped around her suddenly tightened, causing her to ache all over.

Pei Xuanzhi calmed his tense body and pleaded softly, "Sister, please don't torture me..."

Yan Huanyue blinked as she looked at his furrowed brows, which seemed to be in pain but not quite. He was not as composed as he had been when she saw him spreading incense before.

She clearly sensed a feeling of bullying the weak rising deep within her, but she didn't find it hard to accept; in fact, she even felt a... guilty appreciation.

She had never noticed before that his restrained demeanor, combined with his aloof and distant temperament, was strangely captivating.

Yan Huanyue felt deeply ashamed of her impulsive behavior and inner thoughts.

She closed her eyes, and through the thin fabric of her clothes, she felt almost as if she were one with him.

They pressed tightly together, their breaths mingling, and Pei Xuanzhi's ten fingers almost clenched until they bled.

Seeing that she remained motionless and silent, tears welled up in his eyes and streamed down his face, eventually wetting his temples.

His body was on the verge of collapse but could not find relief. Like a fully drawn bowstring, it was almost suppressed to the extreme. Enduring such torment, he couldn't help but feel a sour and aggrieved feeling in his heart.

Yan Huanyue lay quietly on him, listening to his heart pounding wildly in her ear, while he himself began to sob quietly in the night.

One sound at a time, gradually becoming clearer.

It would have been better if he hadn't shed a tear, because Yan Huanyue remembered the last time he was in a passionate state, and her heart instantly became as still as water.

He could genuinely beg her for pity by crying, but he only cried when he was afraid she wouldn't be able to take it and would run away.

Often at this point, he would act even more ruthlessly, completely transforming into a tearful, vicious dog compared to his usual calm and collected demeanor. He would feign weakness to commit violence, showing no trace of the pitiful act he put on to achieve his goals.

Nothing is better than good health. Since things have come to this, and the night is deep, Yan Huanyue doesn't want to stay up with him any longer. So she silently recites the Heart Sutra and falls asleep to the sound of his crying.

Yan Huanyue was not at ease with him now, and she couldn't really sleep soundly next to him. In her hazy state, she felt that he seemed to have been sobbing for a long time.

In the latter half of the night, the rain was sparse and the wind was strong. She vaguely heard him coughing again, his chest vibrating. The vibrations woke her up for a while. Fearing that he was sick again, she casually untied the magic seal on his wrist.

The tight golden mist binding her eased slightly, and she closed her eyes again. After an unknown amount of time, he placed her beside him.

He pressed himself against her from behind, sucking and nibbling at her ear, his warm breath brushing against her face.

A moment later, the rustling sound of his clothes rubbing together with his disordered breathing mingled in her ears, sometimes heavy, sometimes slow, and never stopped.

Yan Huanyue opened her eyes and looked at the darkness in front of her, thinking that he was sticking talismans on her back.

Suddenly breaking the eerie silence lurking in the stormy night, she asked in a low voice, "What are you doing?"

Pei Xuanzhi paused for a moment, then pressed himself completely against her from behind, wrapping his arms tightly around her and burying his face in her neck, kissing her passionately. His voice, trembling with suppressed sobs, said:

"Sister, can you hug me? I'm going crazy..."

A strange, burning sensation emanated from her lower back. Yan Huanyue, momentarily confused, made a connection, then suddenly realized something. She said incredulously, "Since you can do it yourself, why...?"

Her eyes widened, her heart pounding as she learned something forbidden. Could it really be like this?

He was doing this behind her back, this...

She was stunned for a long time, staring blankly at the night, the increasingly clear fragrance emanating from him lingering around her nose.

Seeing her silence, Pei Xuanzhi inhaled deeply into her neck, his voice tinged with excitement as he said, "Yes...it's my fault, my fault...If my sister doesn't allow it...I shouldn't have touched your things..."

Yan Huanyue felt a sudden numbness throughout her body, her heart skipped a beat, and she yanked his hand away from him, crawling off. Whether out of shame or anger, she said:

"It's clearly yours, when did it become mine? What nonsense are you spouting here! It's not even the peak of your love life yet, and with all this turmoil, what are you doing making such a fuss? Just rest now."

After saying that, she rolled away a little further away. When her hand touched a cold patch of ground, she rolled back and curled up into a ball on the thin mattress.

His words kept echoing in her mind, carving themselves into her brain.

She couldn't help but crawl over and punch him twice, warning him, "Pei Xuanzhi, don't tell me that kind of nonsense again."

"oh......"

Pei Xuanzhi lay on his side on the thin mattress, coughing. She was awake and there was nothing he could do, so he could only hunch over and struggle to tie the jade belt around his waist.

This was the first time he had heard her call him by his full name, and he was somewhat intimidated. He didn't know why he had gotten so excited that he had blurted out his most private thoughts...

The sound of wind blowing and breaking branches could be heard, and the wind grew stronger and stronger.

Pei Xuanzhi took out a cloak from his treasure pouch and covered her with it.

Yan Huanyue sighed, then turned and draped the cloak over him, ignoring the golden mist swirling around her. She tucked the edges of the cloak under him, pulled the hood up to his chin, patted his shoulder, and whispered:

"You should cover yourself up, be careful not to catch a cold. I don't need this."

Pei Xuanzhi chuckled softly, "You don't need anything, not even me."

Yan Huanyue was somewhat surprised by his sudden change and said in a low voice, "No... no matter what, you saved my life this time, I..."

Pei Xuanzhi remained silent for a moment, his body suppressing itself to the extreme. The fact that she did not accept his cloak, which was originally not a big deal, suddenly made him feel confused. He flung the cloak aside, got up, and walked to the half-closed old door, letting the cold wind blow on him.

I thought about going out into the rain to calm down, but then I realized that such behavior would be really stupid.

Yan Huanyue saw him stride aggressively to the drafty door, wondering if he wanted to vent his anger by running out.

She sat up and said, "Junior Brother Pei, it's cold by the door, don't stand there."

Pei Xuanzhi then walked to the corner opposite the wall and stood there.

Yan Huanyue's tone turned serious, "Are you determined to catch another cold tonight and make things difficult for everyone?"

Pei Xuanzhi snorted coldly to express his dissatisfaction, but obediently lowered his eyes and lay down next to her, remaining silent for a long time.

Just as Yan Huanyue picked up the cloak and covered him with it, he pulled her into his arms, wrapped her in golden mist, and cupped her face, saying earnestly, "I won't talk nonsense anymore. Sister, can you hold me while we sleep?"

Yan Huanyue was so sleepy that her eyes were seeing stars. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and said, "Junior Brother Pei, stop tossing and turning and go to sleep."

The wind gradually subsided at night, and the light rain dripped from the thatched eaves outside the door until dawn, then suddenly intensified.

Yan Huanyue woke up from Pei Xuanzhi's right shoulder. When she opened her eyes, she saw that he was still fast asleep, his long eyelashes motionless in the morning light, and his breathing even and long. He seemed to have fallen asleep from exhaustion.

Her gaze swept past his profile, surveying the room they were in.

Beyond the torn window paper lay a lush, green forest. The sound of rain pattering on the leaves grew louder as it approached, accompanied by the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves, making it seem as if one were truly in a mountain forest.

The house was dilapidated and had no beds or furniture; they slept on the floor.

A branch of apricots, each the size of a peach pit, swayed outside the window. Spring came early to Xiling, and it was rainy all year round. It seemed that this was probably the Xiling he had mentioned last night.

She closed her eyes and slowly circulated her spiritual energy, trying to guide it to her legs. However, once the spiritual energy reached her calves, it seemed to be blocked and could not pass through.

Several weeks later, when I opened my eyes again, it was already around noon, and it was still drizzling outside the window.

Pei Xuanzhi blinked at her, and when he saw that she was awake, he picked her up and sat up to look at the injuries on her face and hands in the sunlight.

He had already applied the medicine last night. He first held her left hand and reapplied the medicine to the shocking wound on her palm. "How did you get hurt?"

Yan Huanyue said, "Someone wanted to cut off my head, but I caught her sword."

Pei Xuanzhi wrapped her hand tightly and asked, "Who is it? This debt must be settled."

"He's already dead, there's no point in saying more."

He glanced at her, then took out another bottle of medicine.

He washed the fine, long wounds on her face with the spiritual liquid, held her chin with one hand, and gently applied medicine to the wounds with the other.

The cool ointment seeped into the flesh and blood, calming the mind.

His cool fingertips gently stroked her face, then slowly caressed her temples, his breathing becoming heavier.

Yan Huanyue slightly raised her eyes and saw him staring intently into her eyes, his expression dark and restrained, as if wildfire was struggling beneath the dark clouds.

Yan Huanyue felt a burning sensation from his gaze and couldn't help but lower her eyes, turning her head away from his hand. "You have ointment on your hands, don't wipe them with my hair."

Pei Xuanzhi lowered his head and tentatively rubbed his cheek against her smooth black hair, the cool, smooth, and soft touch was intoxicating.

But fearing she might find it annoying, he casually moved his face away again and whispered, "It does smell a little medicinal, but I'll wash it off for you... And what happened to the injury on your face?"

Yan Huanyue thought for a moment and said, "It was that white jade platform that was blown up. Jade fragments splashed onto my face and left a scratch."

Upon hearing this, Pei Xuanzhi felt a pang of guilt. He had clearly intended to throw the jade platform debris in the direction with the fewest people, but he hadn't expected to accidentally hurt her.

He picked up the ointment and carefully applied it to her again, muttering under his breath, "What a blind fool."
