Chapter 7: Daughter

Chapter 7: Daughter

The seats in the auction hall have already been arranged.

As soon as Jiang Tingwan sat down, the scent of agarwood filled her nose.

She glanced sideways subconsciously.

I saw Lu Zhaoye leaning lazily on the back of a chair, wearing a burgundy suit, exuding a luxurious temperament.

At this moment, his expression was somewhat indifferent, as if he had no interest in everything around him.

Jiang Tingwan raised the corners of her lips slightly, revealing a gentle smile. She was about to say hello to him when she was suddenly interrupted by Lu Zhaoye.

"Why, you're not hanging around Shen Guan anymore?"

Lu Zhaoye didn't even look at her. His voice was low and hoarse with a hint of sarcasm. He changed the subject and added a little teasing, "Did you finally realize that he's not as handsome as me?"

This guy is really narcissistic.

Jiang Tingwan still had a smile on her face, and she responded by tapping the armrest rhythmically with her slender fingertips.

"Mr. Lu is dressed so festively today, is he planning to get married on the spot?"

Lu Zhaoye finally slowly turned his head, his eyes like lightning, quickly swept across the dark green dress she was wearing, and then sneered disdainfully: "Red and green are a waste of shit."

......Who wants to be a match with him?

"In that case, why did Master Lu insist on sitting next to me?"

Jiang Tingwan blinked her eyes and pretended to be innocent, "Aren't you afraid that others will misunderstand that you have other feelings for me?"

Lu Zhaoye seemed to be aroused by these words. He suddenly leaned forward and moved slightly closer to her.

His suit brushed against her exposed shoulders, his warm breath brushed against her ears, and he spoke in a deliberately lowered voice.

"Miss Jiang is so good at being sentimental, does Shen Guan know that?"

Jiang Tingwan remained calm and said, "Mr. Lu is so concerned about the relationship between Shen Guan and me, could it be that..."

She deliberately dragged out her tone, her eyes full of teasing, "Are you jealous?"

When Lu Zhaoye heard this, his eyes darkened instantly. Just as he was about to retort, the host on the stage announced the official start of the auction at just the right moment.

He glanced at Jiang Tingwan coldly, then slowly leaned back in his chair and said slowly: "Miss Jiang, you should focus more on bidding on the items. After all..."

He glanced meaningfully at Shen Guan who was not far away.

"I won't be so kind as to reimburse you for your bidding costs."

A few more days passed.

During this period of time, Jiang Tingwan moved around and became well-known in the circle.

She counted the days on her fingers and estimated that it would not be long before Jiang Shixu returned from abroad to take charge of the family business. By then, she would be able to enter the family business and make a name for herself.

Everything had already been arranged by the elders of the Jiang family. She was neither able to change it nor too lazy to fight back.

After all, everything he has now was obtained by relying on the Jiang family. It is impossible to break away from the Jiang family.

Besides, Jiang Tingwan is a cold-hearted person and has no desire for a so-called passionate love. She also doesn't care about the family's arrangements.

In her opinion, even if she really encountered a relationship with someone who was not a good match for her, the other party would most likely be attracted by her Jiang family background.

This method might work to deceive naive young ladies from aristocratic families, but how could Jiang Tingwan be such a fool as to throw herself into a flame.

However, this morning Jiang's mother suddenly called and asked her to go back to the old house in the evening, which made Jiang Tingwan feel a little strange.

In the evening, Jiang Tingwan drove slowly into the Jiang family's magnificent mansion.

The Jiang family tonight looked no different than usual, and it didn't look like they were hosting any important guests.

In the silence, there was a hint of something strange.

After the car stopped, the butler hurried over and said respectfully, "Miss, the lady is in the tea room."

Jiang Tingwan keenly realized that things seemed to be a little secretive, because Jiang's mother seldom chose to talk to her in the tea room. In the past, they usually exchanged a few words in the living room first.

With doubt, she gently pushed open the door of the tea room.

"Mother." She called softly.

"Sit down."

Jiang's mother had a dignified look on her face. She handed over a cup of tea with a calm expression, but she did not rush to speak.

"Do you remember when you first entered the Jiang family?" the lady said in a faint voice.

"You were a sensitive person when you were little, so you must have heard some rumors."

Jiang's mother paused slightly, as if she was reminiscing about the past. She hadn't mentioned that name for many years, so it seemed a little unfamiliar.

"When I brought you back, everyone guessed it was because of my...biological daughter."

"Over the years, you also know that I didn't bring you back to make up for the missing family affection. I think I have given you everything without any omissions."

The woman paused for a few seconds, as if she was choosing her words, trying to make them sound more gentle.

"You know me well. I had already given up hope of finding Wanzhou."

"I just didn't expect that charity dinner a few days ago. Do you remember? A waiter almost spilled champagne on you."

Jiang's mother's voice unconsciously softened a little, "At that moment, I saw a butterfly-shaped birthmark on the back of her neck."

"More than 20 years ago, I saw the same birthmark on the back of Wanzhou's neck."

Jiang Tingwan paused for a moment after hearing this: Could it be...

"I immediately sent someone to investigate the child's identity and found out that she was from an orphanage. So I asked someone to conduct a further investigation and collected her hair and blood for DNA comparison."

Mother Jiang sighed softly, with a hint of emotion in her tone: "It turns out to be Wanzhou."

Jiang Tingwan was shocked in her heart, but she remained calm on her face.

Jiang Wanzhou, who had disappeared for many years, was found in such a dramatic way.

"Mother, it is indeed a great thing to find her back, but does she know about this now?"

Jiang Tingwan couldn't help but ask.

I remembered the timid look of the little girl at the dinner that day.

She thought to herself that it might be hard to accept this sudden news for a while.

Jiang's mother shook her head slightly and said, "These are all done in secret, and she knows nothing about it."

"Do you need me to do anything?" Jiang Tingwan asked.

Logically speaking, letting an adopted daughter look for her biological daughter might cause some concerns in an ordinary family, but Jiang's mother has lived with Jiang Tingwan for many years and knows her character well.

"I've thought about this matter over and over again, and it's indeed more appropriate for you to go. I'll have the butler give you the relevant information."

Over the years, Jiang Tingwan has long been accustomed to this indifferent way of getting along with Jiang's mother.

Being in her current position, she doesn't need to deliberately put on a smiling face to please anyone, let alone deliberately create the illusion of a deep mother-daughter relationship, as that would appear hypocritical.

Mother Jiang gently patted the back of Jiang Tingwan's hand and said, "You know my style of doing things. The Jiang family has treated you the same way over the years, and it will remain the same in the future."

Jiang Tingwan's lips curled up slightly, revealing a gentle and sensible smile.

"Mother, why do you have to say all this? Wanwan already feels extremely lucky to be taken back to the Jiang family."
