Chapter 10. The Night is Long and the Dreams are Many
A week later, Ke Fan received the test report from Lu Qiaoyuan.
White fingers stroked the paper, the fingertips lingered on a line of abnormal data, and the delicate eyebrows were slightly raised.
Just as she had guessed before, the seabed sank.
She couldn't help but frown and ponder what to do next.
The morning light from the window fell on her soft silhouette. Her long black hair was gathered behind her head, and her back was as tranquil as an ink painting.
Jiang Wen couldn't help but secretly look at her from the tea room.
Until a big chestnut hit his forehead, the middle-aged man's voice sounded:
"What are you looking around for so early in the morning?"
Xing Xiao walked out of the tea room, holding a cup and walked to the window where Ke Fan was.
Of course, with his usual overly eager smile:
"Hey, good morning, Mr. Ke! Are you basking in the sun here?"
Ke Fan's eyes were cold:
"Good morning, Mr. Xing."
Xing Xiao privately asked some engineers he was familiar with in Jinshi and learned that the Jinshi case had not been resolved last week.
And seeing Ke Fan gazing out the window in deep thought, I couldn't help but want to write a few more lines:
"What's up, Mr. Ke? You look down? Is the case in Jinshi not going well?" He took a sip of his coffee and said in a considerate manner, "As a senior, it's not like I can't offer some help."
Are you kidding? He won't give any help.
Seeing Ke Fan's rare calm look, I felt so happy.
When she first entered the institute, Xing Xiao didn't take her seriously.
How far can a young girl go if she plunges into an industry dominated by men?
He watched with a cold eye and was not reluctant to add a few more difficulties to her early career.
Isn't it normal for newcomers to be polished by veterans? Everyone has been there.
I just didn't expect that this girl looks soft but has such hard bones.
After suffering several losses, she did not give in as expected, but bowed her head respectfully to ask him for advice.
Instead, he tackled technical problems one after another on his own, and gradually became proficient in them.
He had worked diligently for more than ten years and finally became a middle-level manager. He was originally expected to be promoted, but first Li Chengjin came and took the position of second-in-command, and then Ke Fan came.
Younger and more dazzling than Li Chengjin.
With her around, he was as dull as a gray stone next to the dazzling shells on the beach, and no one cared.
snort.
Young and promising? I'm afraid it's just youthful recklessness.
The case in Jinshi is so difficult that only young guys like them would dare to take it on.
If it is not completed, it will definitely affect the reputation of the headquarters.
He waited to see her make a fool of herself.
Xing Xiao gave a more sincere fake smile and was about to continue speaking.
"Don't bother with that."
Ke Fan said this indifferently and turned away.
Leaving him with a back view that clearly showed that she didn't want to talk to him any more.
Stinky girl!
She did this several times, never exchanging false pleasantries with him.
He was so angry that he said sinisterly to Jiang Wen who was watching the fun nearby:
"Look at her, she talks so little! It's so hard to communicate with her."
Turning his head, Jiang Wen stared at Ke Fan's receding back, with stars in his eyes almost popping out. He obviously didn't hear the hidden meaning in his words, and his tone was full of admiration:
"No way! Mr. Ke is really cool."
Xing Xiao: ...

"Enter."
The moment the door was pushed open, Li Chengjin saw that it was Ke Fan. He put down the information he was reading and asked, "What's wrong?"
Ke Fan didn't say much, walked straight to the table, spread out the report that Lu Qiaoyuan sent her on the desk, turned to the last page, and placed the analysis report issued by the institute on it.
The two files were placed side by side, with almost identical data, and the conclusion was crystal clear.
“It’s indeed seabed subsidence.”
Li Chengjin pondered for a moment and nodded slightly.
They had anticipated this result and decided to learn from the Yangshi case's method of improving seabed conditions through artificial grouting.
"Okay, so you'll be back in Tsu City next week?"
"I'll go this week."
Li Chengjin raised his eyebrows slightly when he heard this: "Why are you so anxious?"
Ke Fan did not answer immediately, but glanced thoughtfully at the glass door outside the office.
A greasy, heavy figure was wandering outside pretending to be nonchalant. She withdrew her gaze and said in a tone that was neither light nor heavy:
"The night is long and dreams are many."
After leaving Li Chengjin's office, Ke Fan went straight to the separate lounge and called Lao Xie.
After explaining the report's data and conclusions and giving me some other instructions, she said, "I'm going back to Jinshi this week. Please help me make arrangements."
Old Xie agreed to all of them. Just as he was about to hang up, he suddenly remembered something: "By the way, how about inviting Mr. Yi to have dinner together this weekend?"
Ke Fan paused for a moment, "Hmm?" She raised her eyes, her tone rising slightly, as if she was a little puzzled.
"I've been wanting to find an opportunity to formally thank Mr. Yi," Old Xie explained with a smile. "Last time, everyone's schedules were so rushed. This time, since you're back and it's the weekend, can we make an appointment?"
"Okay, I'm fine." She said calmly.
Li Chengjin was standing up from his seat with a cup in his hand and preparing to get a glass of water when Ke Fan suddenly appeared at the door again.
He asked in surprise, "Did you forget to take anything?"
Ke Fan shook his head: "No."
In the early summer morning light, she stood quietly, like a magnolia on a drooping branch, something about to emerge.
After a few seconds, as if she had made some kind of decision, she raised her eyes:
"I just forgot to tell you that I'm still planning to take Ji Hanghe with me this time."

It was lunchtime and the office was quiet. The sunlight shone through the half-open blinds and slanted onto the dark office desk.
Yi Lingjia supported his head with one hand, closed his eyes and took a nap, breathing evenly.
At this moment, the phone screen lit up slightly, and a message popped up, accompanied by a short vibration.
Yi Lingjia's originally relaxed brows suddenly twitched. For some reason, he suddenly felt a sense of tension in his heart.
He slowly opened his eyes, his gaze fell on the screen, and after hesitating for a moment, he reached out and picked up the phone.
Click on the message.
"Boss Yi, thank you for your help last time. Xiao Ke is going back to Jin City this weekend. Would it be convenient for you to have dinner together?"
His gaze stayed on the line of words for a few seconds, and then he unconsciously exited the chat interface and his eyes fell on the topmost pinned avatar that had been silent for a long time.
I repeatedly turned the screen off and on again, rubbing it with my fingertips, but I couldn't clearly type "good" or "bad" for a long time.
He lowered his gaze. The bruise on the back of his hand had long since healed, leaving barely a trace. But the inexplicable emotion in his heart ignited again, surging rapidly.
The office was extremely quiet. Where did the uncontrollable irritation that was clamoring in my mind come from?
I almost couldn't help but reach out to grab the medicine bottle lying in the corner of the drawer, but there was another person in the room at this moment.
He simply stood up, startling Li Jing who was lying on the sofa. He sat up in a daze:
"Boss, what's wrong?"
Yi Lingjia exhaled slowly, and his expression returned to his usual calm and composed state.
He slowly sat back in his chair, his tone as steady as if nothing had happened: "Nothing."
The clamoring irritability was forcibly suppressed, but a different taste emerged from the deep well of emotions. It was not the usual heavy and hopeless bitterness, but instead a clear and joyful sweetness.
"By the way, where is the suit I bought in Italy?"
Li Jing, who is still as sleepy as a dog:?
Although my boss is wealthy, he has always been simple and frugal when it comes to buying things.
He only wears that silver-gray suit, which was custom-made in Italy, when he gives a speech at the annual meeting.
But it's only June? Li Jing patted his head, wondering if he was still asleep.
The man who asked the question didn't seem to want to wait for an answer. He just lowered his head and typed a few words on his phone.
Then he turned around, half leaning against the back of the chair, and with a light pull of his fingertips, the curtains slid open.
The warm afternoon sun shone in, and the room suddenly became bright.
Even his back seemed to brighten.
