Chapter 12. Red Bean Sweet Soup

Chapter 12. Red Bean Sweet Soup

The hotel booked for this business trip was good, and it happened to be a weekend, so Ke Fan had a rare good long sleep.

When I woke up, it was already bright outside the window, with clear sky and blue sea.

The phone unlocked from sleep mode and a new email notification popped up in her private mailbox.

The sender is still Dr. Xu Psychology.

She read the email content in English carefully, and from time to time she looked up the translation of several psychology terms.

I temporarily saved the content I was going to reply to in the draft box, then washed up and prepared to go out.

After taking Ji Hang to visit most of the major attractions in the city, it was already noon.

"Are you hungry? Why don't you just go and eat?" she suggested.

"Okay, let's eat seafood! Didn't Old Xie say last time that Jinshi's seafood is very famous?"

"Okay." She has always been an easy-going leader.

"I checked on the high-speed train when I got here. There's a seafood place in Jinshi that's really popular lately. What's it called..." Ji Hang said as he opened the search history on the red app. "It's called... Fengshun, Fengshun Seafood. Honestly, it sounds pretty auspicious."

"really."

Ke Fan also nodded, and the two wind power workers smiled at each other.

Ji Hang swiped down on his phone screen to show Ke Fan more customer feedback posts:

"The specialty of this place is that the owner catches the fish fresh from the farm, it's super fancy!"

The two of them walked for less than twenty minutes and arrived at the destination indicated on the map.

A very grand store.

There are many lively little shops around, selling barbecue beer, beef offal porridge, casserole porridge, and charcoal-grilled oysters. You can imagine how cozy and lively this area is in the evening.

Seeing the sign from afar, the two quickened their pace. When they got closer, they found two inconspicuous letters FS under the Chinese word "Feng Shun".

A sense of familiarity flashed through Ke Fan's mind, and he paused slightly.

The waiter in the store saw them lingering at the door and greeted them warmly: "Are you two here? Please sit inside."

That feeling was interrupted, and it passed by quickly like a stream, disappearing without a trace. I followed the waiter, one after another, and walked in.

The wooden tables and chairs in the store were simple and elegant, and Ke Fan and the others found a place to sit down at random.

Ji Hang had done more research on the way here and ordered a table of dishes according to the recommendations of the red software.

Seafood porridge, vermicelli scallops, garlic lobster, stir-fried squid rings with green onions, steamed grouper.

A dazzling array of delicious food with all the colors, aromas and flavors.

"This restaurant is really good, Sister Xiaofan, did you come here when you were in school?" Ji Hang asked vaguely while stuffing scallops into his mouth with sauce on the corners of his mouth.

Looking at how busy he was, Ke Fan couldn't help but find it funny.

"It wasn't there when I was in school. This must be a new restaurant. But the seafood in Tsu City is very delicious."

"So happy." Ji Hang grew up in the inland, and his envy at the moment was genuine: "Were you incredibly happy during those years?"

Ke Fan's smile gradually faded, and his eyes became a little gloomy, making it difficult to see clearly.

She whispered, "Back then... I was indeed very happy." Looking into his clear, round eyes, her disguise seemed to melt away, and she said with some melancholy, "But six years have passed, and so many things have changed."

It was rare to see her express such emotion, so Ji Hang couldn't help but ask, "So what were you like six years ago?"

Ke Fan narrowed his eyes and thought for a moment: "I'm quite boring. I just read and study every day. My classmates call me a 'bookworm'."

Ji Hang tilted his head and jokingly said, "Hahaha, it sounds like not much has changed since then. Besides studying, what else do you do?"

Ke Fan pretended to glare at him.

"Besides studying..." She paused and smiled.

"I'll also hang out with my good friends."

“Is she also a study freak?”

Ke Fan's smile deepened:

"No, he gets a headache when he mentions studying."

Ji Hang was thoughtful:

"Is it your roommate? I thought you said you were the only girl in your major."

Ke Fan shook his head:

"No, not my roommate."

Just then, the waiter came to help clean up the dirty dishes, and amid the noise, Ji Hang did not hear Ke Fan's last words.

"My good friend. My only friend besides my roommate."

Ji Hang finished up the remaining dishes and then patted his stomach childishly.

Ke Fan looked at his round smiling eyes filled with satisfaction and also smiled.

Ji Hang suddenly remembered when he first entered the wind farm and had not yet met Ke Fan.

At that time, everyone always said that she was very methodical at work and didn't like to smile much.

At the beginning, he was a little nervous.

Later he discovered that Ke Fan seemed to be very special to him.

Every time she looked into his eyes, she seemed to have infinite tolerance and patience.

It was an outpouring of emotion without any ambiguity.

Sometimes he would wonder if she had ever looked into someone else's eyes so tenderly?

Seeing that Ke Fan's table had finished eating, the waiter came over enthusiastically:

"By the way, would you two like to try our desserts?"

"There are desserts in the seafood restaurant?" Ji Hang asked in surprise.

“It was a special surprise arranged by our boss, and the guests’ feedback was very good.”

"Your boss is such a wonderful person. Now that you mention it, I really want to try it." Ji Hang joked, turning to Ke Fan and asking, "Do you want to eat it, Sister Xiaofan?"

Ke Fan has never been able to resist sweets.

"Then please give us two desserts."

"Okay!"

The waiter took the order with a smile on his face and sent it to the kitchen. He cleared away the used cutlery on the table and replaced it with two clean spoons.

But after a moment, the curtain of the kitchen door was lifted, and two exquisite porcelain bowls were brought out and placed in front of them.

"Please enjoy your meal."

Ke Fan looked down.

It's two bowls of red bean sweet soup.

Red beans are brightly colored.

In early summer in Tsu City, there are noisy shops and warm sea breeze.

But Ke Fan suddenly remembered the extremely cold winter six years ago.

She had severe menstrual cramps, so she took ibuprofen and stayed in bed waiting for the pills to take effect.

Someone clumsily brought a bowl of sweet and soft red bean soup from the kitchen and sat by the bed, feeding her mouthful by mouthful.

My love for red beans probably started around that time.

After eating the hot sweet soup, the painkillers began to take effect.

She felt much better and had the energy to joke:

"Since you don't like going to school anyway, why not just open a dessert shop selling red bean soup instead of pursuing academic studies?"

"But last time we had seafood, you told me you wanted me to open a seafood restaurant!"

The man pretended to be indignant.

The pain faded, and my stomach felt warm. The quilt was soft, and the bedroom was filled with the intertwined scents of the two of them. Ke Fan felt extremely comfortable, tilting his head slightly, and rarely began to act coquettishly:

"Then why don't you sell both?"

How did that person respond at that time?

He was wearing the couple pajamas they bought together, smiling with his white teeth showing, looking silly.

His hair was fluffy and he lay on her knees like a spoiled big dog.

She raised her face again, her round smiling eyes were soft and bright, and her blooming dimples contained the brightest sunlight:

"I don't want that. Who sells desserts in a seafood restaurant? And red bean sweet soup?"
