Chapter 5 Haunted Houses in the Republic of China (V)
"Madam, your maidservant is so ignorant of etiquette. How about I ask Mrs. Wang to teach her a lesson?"
Ning Hanqi stroked her ears which were a little hot. She whispered something, and a light laugh came from the wind, and then the strange wind stopped.
The others were blown around by the wind and didn't look over here. Only Chang Yue accidentally caught a glimpse of Ning Hanqi who seemed to say something, but the wind was too loud and she couldn't hear what the other person said. But the sudden stop of the wind made her feel creepy.
Who is she talking to? Who controls the climate here?
The answer was not difficult to guess, but Chang Yue didn't dare to say it out loud even after guessing it.
She could only bite the bullet and move further and further away from Ning Hanqi.
"The weather is so weird today, with lightning and thunder and strong winds." Brother Zhao, who didn't shut up in time, spat out a mouthful of sand. He looked up at the dim sky and felt a sense of crisis.
Xiaolu finally got up from the ground. She rubbed her nose which was hurt by the fall and tears flowed out uncontrollably.
Why is she so unlucky?
"It's normal for anything to happen in a game copy. Let's discuss our next actions as soon as possible. My suggestion is cooperation. Sharing intelligence is always better than doing it alone. What do you think?" Lao Zhang looked around at the expressions of everyone.
"I agree." Brother Zhao was the first to express his attitude.
Chang Yue snorted coldly, "Thank you for the invitation, but I have something else to do and I'll leave first."
After saying that, she left without looking back.
These two people are singing the same tune. If they really join forces, no one knows how they will stab me in the back.
Although Chang Yue is not very old, he has experienced several copies and understands that in this place, human hearts may be more terrifying than ghosts.
The cause of death of the newcomer in the morning was definitely not that simple. Chang Yue didn't believe anything they said.
After Chang Yue left, he was left with two old players who looked unhappy and three new players.
Wu Er was almost scared to death by what happened last night. Now his attitude towards the old players was as easy to control as if he was grasping at his last life-saving straw. However, Xiaolu had become suspicious of the two old players because of the drawing of lots. She looked at Ning Hanqi, wanting to wait and see her attitude.
"We can exchange information." Ning Hanqi nodded slightly, looking very friendly. "We are both new here, so I'm afraid we'll have to trouble Brother Zhang and Brother Li to take care of us."
Her soft tone made people feel comfortable compared to Chang Yue's just now. Even Brother Zhao, who was playing the bad guy, softened his expression.
"It's not easy for everyone, and I'll definitely help if I can," Lao Zhang sighed. "But the most important thing in this place is to be careful. If you run into a situation like Xiao Li did last night, you can't count on others to save you."
"By the way, little deer, did you hear anything last night?"
The little deer nodded timidly, "I thought I heard a scream, and then there were sounds of mice or something else running around outside all night."
"Nothing else?"
"No more." Xiaolu shook his head and added, "I didn't sleep last night, so I'm sure I didn't hear any other noises."
"That's a bit strange." Old Zhang lowered his brows in thought. "Your room is farther away from the door. Even if Xiao Li wanted to escape, he should have run to his own room. And you didn't hear any movement. That means he must have been transported to your door after his death. Are those ghosts trying to hint at something?"
"Implication...what?" Xiaolu's heart couldn't bear it. As long as Lao Zhang dared to say that she was marked and she would be the next to die, she would faint on the spot.
"It's hard to say. Anyway, you should talk to that girl Chang Yue. Both of you should be careful tonight. I don't know how Mrs. Wang will deal with the corpse. I'm afraid Xiao Li will come back." Lao Zhang seemed to be reminding Chang Yue without holding a grudge, but only he knew how much of his intention was to watch the show.
Ning Hanqi probably guessed the real reason why Brother Li's body appeared at the door of Xiaolu's room. She comforted Xiaolu helplessly and said, "Why don't you and Changyue change places tonight."
"Can we move to another place?" The little deer opened his eyes blankly.
"...I can find a way to convince that young lady."
"No, no, no!" Xiaolu waved his hands hurriedly, his face full of fear, "Sister Ning, don't do anything rash!"
Negotiate with the ghost boss here? That would be so dangerous! I'm not sure if I'll be in danger tonight, but if Ning Hanqi goes to find that boss, there will definitely be danger!
"I heard from Chang Yue that the boss in that game is moody and vicious. You should be careful and avoid contact with her if possible..."
Because Ning Hanqi and Xiaolu kept a certain distance, she didn't have time to cover the other's mouth.
"I agree." A cold sneer rang in Ning Hanqi's ears, "Let them both come to my yard."
Xiaolu suddenly realized that Ning Hanqi's gaze at him seemed a little complicated.
"Sister Ning...what's wrong?" She suddenly had a bad premonition in her heart. That's not right. To be precise, the bad premonition in her heart has never disappeared during this period of time.
"She agreed. You and Chang Yue can move into her yard." Ning Hanqi seemed to sigh softly.
Agreed?
Who agreed?
Considering Xiaolu's ability to accept, Ning Hanqi didn't say anything more, but even so, the other party's expression gradually became dull, as if something like a soul ran out of her mouth.
Chang Yue, who left early, had no idea that such a big "surprise" was waiting for him. The other two old players looked strange, and it was hard to tell whether they were gloating or sympathizing.
But this matter was a done deal, and Mrs. Wang quickly took people to move their belongings to Miss Xia's yard. Chang Yue, who was looking for exit clues elsewhere, just frowned slightly after learning about this, but Xiaolu looked like he was "about to die" the whole day.
She probably figured out that someone had overheard her badmouthing the big boss, so how could she possibly survive? So even though Ning Hanqi tried to comfort her for a while, it was to no avail.
As her roommate, Chang Yue couldn't stand seeing her dead look, so she grabbed her ear and dragged her out to look for clues to the exit.
The so-called exit is the "door" that appears on the night of the seventh day, allowing players to leave the game. If they cannot leave before the countdown ends, they will be stuck here forever even if they survive for seven days.
They didn't get any useful clues during the first day. Instead, after Ning Hanqi left, they were tortured by that old woman Wang. They were assigned the next task before they finished the work at hand. The players dared not say anything.
As the clock hands gradually approached 18:00, the dim sky became darker and darker, and those who were still outside hurriedly finished their work and returned to their rooms.
Ning Hanqi and Chang Yue met once. At that time, there was no one around except the two of them. Chang Yue called her with a somewhat conflicted look on his face.
"Be careful 3." She left in a hurry after leaving behind some unclear words.
"Tick, tick, tick..." Every step of the clock's hands seems to be a countdown reminder for the players.
"Thank you." Ning Hanqi thanked him softly, although Chang Yue, who left in a hurry, might not hear it.
"Tick-tick-tick..." The sound of the pointer suddenly changed, and the rapid ticking sound was like a death warrant.
In this not-so-quiet environment, no one noticed this subtle change. In just the blink of an eye, it was dark, so dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of you.
The clock hands reached 18:00.
Ning Hanqi was trapped in darkness before he even reached the room.
She quickened her pace and lit the candle she was carrying.
A candle provided a small ray of light, but in the darker places, Ning Hanqi heard an increasingly obvious rustling sound, and could even feel something furry brushing against his shoes.
“Wuwuwu…”
In the dark night, Ning Hanqi faintly heard crying.
She ignored it, protecting the candle to prevent it from being blown out by the wind, and trying to speed up her pace. However, when she saw the last side door was right in front of her, Ning Hanqi was suddenly grabbed by the arm by a hand that reached out from behind. The other person's hand was like an eagle's claw, and its nails were so hard that they almost pinched into the flesh.
The originally vague crying sound is now close to my ears.
"Are you my brother-in-law?" The girl's voice rang out in tears. "Brother-in-law, I just fell at the door. Can you help me take a look?"
Ning Hanqi was forced to stop.
"Brother-in-law, my legs are bleeding and it hurts so much..."
Ning Hanqi couldn't pull her arm out of the other person's hand, so she turned around and looked calmly into the girl who was wearing a little dress and looked about fifteen or sixteen years old.
The "girl" smiled with tears in her eyes, which was quite endearing. Her eyes seemed to have a special magic that could make people fall in love with her just by looking into her eyes.
Ning Hanqi slightly arched her eyebrows, and just when the "girl" thought she had bewitched the other party, she heard a soft sneer.
"Hurt? Then let me help you."
That night, the players who managed to escape back to their rooms heard a shrill and angry howl.
The bride in the red dress in the room opened her eyes, and the hem of her skirt fell to the ground like blood. Hearing the howl, she sneered, and the ghost hand hiding in the shadows couldn't stop shaking.
This was the first time it felt such anger from its master. Its master had never been so angry when those humans came before.
"That bitch, she really came when she smelled the scent."
"How long do you think my little wife can hold on?" The room was silent, and no one answered her.
"It's a pity that anything that bitch touched is now dirty..."
Her soft sigh echoed in the room.
Just as she seemed to be talking to herself, there were messy footsteps outside the door.
"Bang!" The door was kicked open. Ning Hanqi held onto the door frame, her face pale and looking a little embarrassed. Blood kept dripping from her arm, and the smell of blood hit her face.
