2.4 Moonlight (1/2)

Qiao Youyou couldn't remember how she managed to survive those hours.

The only things she could remember, apart from the basins of blood pouring out of the room, were Shi Yan's words lingering in her ears.

"Scraping bones to cure poison is a strange method, the process is extremely complicated, and you can't use Ma Fei San to relieve the pain."

"Master Wenren hid this from you because he was afraid that you would disagree after knowing it."

"He once told me that he used to think that he would spend his whole life confined to a wheelchair and in a small world. The outside world did not belong to him, and he never had any expectations."

"Until he met you, he saw the sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers, lakes and seas in your eyes...those unattainable things, he said, he wanted to go with you."

The bone-scraping knife did not fall on Qiao Youyou, but she felt a kind of pain spreading throughout her limbs.

"Stupid little kid..." Qiao Youyou squatted on the ground with her head in her hands, trying her best to suppress her tears.

Xiaowu came out of the room carrying the last basin of blood, her face pale. She seemed shocked and even frightened by the scene that had just happened in the room.

An old female voice sounded from the room:

"Okay, come in."

The bright room had been cleaned up by Xiaowu and the other girls, and only a faint smell of blood lingered in the air.

Qiao Youyou walked step by step to the bedside, and Wenren Yue had already fainted.

His legs were wrapped in thick gauze, with spots of blood seeping out. Qiao Youyou didn't dare to look closely.

Her gaze passed over Wenren Yueqi's bloodless face and fell on his thin wrists, which had a few purple marks on them - those were the marks left by the binding to prevent him from struggling in pain.

Qiao Youyou's body began to tremble uncontrollably again, tears streaming down her face.

"Master, you've worked hard. Young Master Wenren's bone poison..." Shi Yan stepped forward to support Master. He could feel that the other party was also exhausted at this time.

The old man with a wrinkled face looked tired and just nodded at her. Shi Yan quickly helped her to rest.

Qiao Youyou felt a hand gently pressing on her shoulder. She turned around and found that the old man had left, leaving only Shi Yan who had returned.

"Don't worry, my master said that Master Wenren's legs are fine, but because the process of the surgery is really..." Shi Yan paused and avoided these details, "In short, he still needs to recuperate for half a year. When the skin and flesh on his legs heal and grow back, he will be no different from an ordinary person."

Qiao Youyou was extremely grateful and wanted to go and thank him in person, but Shi Yan said that her master liked quietness, so there was no need for her to do so.

Shi Yan looked at the unconscious Wenren Yueqi, and his eyes couldn't help but reveal a bit of admiration.

"I didn't expect that Master Wenren, who looks weak, has such a strong will."

It was such a tragic process, and he didn't even utter a sound until he fainted from the pain.

Just now even Shi Xu said that she had seen countless people, but this was the first time she had seen someone like this.

Since Wenren Yueqi's condition prevented her from being moved at will, Qiao Youyou simply moved into Chunyi Tower and even handled her business affairs there.

She canceled all her plans outside Beijing and wanted to take personal care of Wenren Yueqi. However, she did not expect that Wenren Yueqi would react extremely firmly after waking up. She insisted on letting Lao Yan come no matter what, and she was so anxious that even her neck turned red.

The look on her face at that time made Qiao Youyou feel like a big bad wolf that was about to harm the little rabbit.

In the end, she was really worried that Wenren Yueqi would be depressed, so she had to agree to let Lao Yan take care of his daily life while she would be responsible for washing clothes and cooking.

Of course, I still have to learn how to do laundry and cooking from scratch from the girls in Chunyi Building.

The only thing he did was to ruin a dozen pieces of clothing and burn the kitchen three times.

Not only was Shi Yan not angry, he was very happy because Qiao Youyou said he would compensate her three times the price.

Shi Yan even regretted that the kitchen was not built more luxuriously.

Wenren Yueqi was unable to get out of bed to eat, so Qiao Youyou asked someone to make a small wooden table that could be placed horizontally on the bed.

When she brought in the food, Wenren Yueqi was still reading Ding Xiaoqiu's book "Daliang Fengwuzhi".

When he read something that fascinated him, the light in his eyes was completely different from before.

Qiao Youyou placed the food on the small wooden table with a smile and took away the book in his hand.

"It's time to eat, come and try it!"

She stuffed the chopsticks into Wenren Yueqi's hand and sat beside him with an expectant look on her face.

"This is shredded pork with fish flavor, I made it!"

“I made this stir-fried seasonal vegetable dish!”

"This chicken——"

Qiao Youyou saw his eyebrows slightly frowned when he tasted it, as if he was choked, and immediately said:

"Yes, it was Xiaowu who did it!"

Xiaowu just came in to deliver clothes. When he heard this, he made a big face at her behind her back.

Forget it, forget it, let my reputation be damaged. After all, someone promised to take me to a small island in Nanzhou to play, see the sea, and ride a big ship next time.

A month later, although Wenren Yueqi's legs were still unable to move, the surface wounds had basically healed. After Shi Yan's master examined her, he said she could leave and gave her some instructions for recuperation.

Qiao Youyou took note of every detail very carefully.

She brought Wenren Yueqi back to Jinxiao Pavilion.

Half a year later, winter passed and spring came.

The swallow nest outside the Jinxiao Pavilion has been going on for who knows how many generations. The newly grown little swallows bring mud to build nests and return home to bring their mates.

There were some emergencies in Nanzhou's business, and Qiao Youyou had to leave the capital and go there to deal with it personally.

She didn't expect that this would delay her return for a month.

When Qiao Youyou returned to Jinxiao Pavilion, it was almost midnight. According to past habits, Wenren Yueqi should have gone to bed early by now.

But Qiao Youyou was concerned about his condition and was afraid of disturbing his rest, so she pushed open his door quietly.

I came to Wenren Yueqi's bed in the dim light and could hear his even breathing.

Qiao Youyou looked at his extremely straight sleeping posture and couldn't help but find it amusing. She wanted to reach out and pinch his face, but was afraid of waking him up.

The room was still filled with the familiar smell of herbs, indicating that Old Yan was still helping him apply medicine for recuperation every day. It seemed that Xiao Yi's leg would need to continue to recuperate for a while.

Qiao Youyou was about to leave quietly, but her eyes inadvertently swept to the inside of the bed.

There was Ding Xiaoqiu's "Daliang Fengwuzhi". There seemed to be something pressed under the book, which looked familiar.
