Chapter 40 Extremes

The end of emotions is not swearing, not venting, but silence.

Silence, oh silence, either erupt from silence or perish in silence.

Su Hong slowly raised her head, her gaze fixed on the person who had been comforting her. Her eyes were filled with endless resentment and anger, as if she wanted to burn the person in front of her to ashes.

"What do you know?" she shouted hoarsely, her voice booming like thunder in the air.

An Yue was so frightened by the hatred in the other person's eyes that she retreated repeatedly, her body trembling involuntarily.

"A woman like you, with your seductive looks, is the most hypocritical! It's all because of you!" Su Hong continued to roar loudly, her tone filled with resentment and hatred.

After saying that, she pulled out an extremely sharp knife from somewhere and stabbed An Yue straight at her without hesitation.

An Yue stared in horror at the gleaming knife, completely stunned and standing there in a daze, even forgetting to run away or hide.

Time seemed to freeze at that moment, and everything around became exceptionally quiet. Only Su Hong's ferocious and twisted face and the knife that kept approaching in her hand became the focus of the entire scene.

When Jiang Wanwan and the others arrived at the scene, this was the scene they saw. Jiang Wanwan casually unleashed a burst of spiritual energy, knocking the knife out of the woman's hand.

An Yue felt her legs go weak and she could no longer support her body. She slowly collapsed to the ground, filled with regret. Why did she have to meddle in other people's business?

After the knife in Su Hong's hand was knocked to the ground, her face turned ashen, her eyes lost all their luster, and her lips were tightly pressed together, making her look like a lifeless stone statue.

"Hey! Are you alright?" Lin Weiguo couldn't help but ask when he saw An Yue sitting on the ground trembling.

An Yue slowly raised her head, looked at Lin Weiguo, and then at the other two people behind him. Suddenly, she felt an indescribable sense of peace.

She took a deep breath, rubbed her legs, and stood up with difficulty. Her voice trembled slightly as she said, "Thank you so much. If you hadn't appeared in time, I don't know what would have happened. I was really scared!"

"Let's call the police, Beixing!" Jiang Wanwan stared at the scene before her, completely baffled as to why Su Hong would resort to violence with a knife.

The entrance to the police station in Xingshan County.

"Young lady, you're lucky you ran into these people today, otherwise you would have been in danger." The young police officer saw the group out of the police station and kept sighing to An Yue.

An Yue couldn't help but feel a lingering fear; her face was pale, and cold sweat beaded on her forehead. If it weren't for these kind people appearing in time to help her, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

"Thank you for saving me... I'm really grateful..." An Yue sincerely thanked them, giving each of them a grateful look.

Suddenly, she remembered something and sincerely invited, "You must be here for tourism, right? Thank you so much for today! My family runs a farmhouse restaurant at the foot of Shennongjia Mountain nearby. If you don't mind, you can come over and have a good time. I'll treat you all to a proper meal to express my gratitude. The environment there is very nice; you can taste authentic farm-style dishes and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery. What do you say?"

An Yue looked at them expectantly, hoping for a positive response. She sincerely hoped to spend more time with these saviors and also wanted to express her gratitude through her actions.

Jiang Wanwan waved her hand casually and said, "It was nothing, don't worry about it. If I have enough time tomorrow, I'll go check out the farmhouse you mentioned!"

The next morning, at the foot of Shennongjia Mountain, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, creating dappled patterns of light and shadow.

A rugged, uneven gravel road winds its way up the mountain, as if it were a mysterious passage left by nature.

The narrow, winding gravel path is flanked by dense forests and steep slopes. It meanders through the mountains, seemingly without a fixed direction, evoking thoughts of the twists and turns and unpredictable nature of life's journey.

Looking up, the shapes of several mountain peaks resemble the tail of a dragon, majestic and imposing. Clouds and mist swirl between the peaks, giving one a dreamlike and ethereal feeling.

As Jiang Wanwan and her companions walked along the pebbled path, it felt as if they had entered a world isolated from the outside world.

There are no noisy city sounds here, only the cheerful songs of birds and the whisper of the breeze. The air is filled with a refreshing fragrance that soothes the soul.

"A hundred years ago, we ambushed the Japanese on this mountain, attempting to stop their attack. Who could have imagined that in this battle, we would be able to inflict heavy losses on a large Japanese force with zero casualties? Perhaps it really was the protection of a divine dragon!"

Later, those ruthless Japanese devils tried to set the mountain on fire, hoping to force us out of our hiding place. However, no matter how hard they tried to start the fire, it just wouldn't spread. Faced with this bizarre situation, the Japanese devils were terrified and fled in panic. "Lin Weiguo recounted that strange battle as he walked.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Beixing, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but marvel at the existence of such a miraculous thing in the world.

Jiang Wanwan fell into deep thought, and after a moment said, "I see, that's why you came to this mountain to check last time!"

Lin Weiguo nodded silently in agreement.

In fact, after the battle, one of their little ones was left behind on the mountain. When they returned to the mountain to look for him after they had safely moved on, they couldn't find him anywhere.

The last time he ventured into the mountains, he still held onto a sliver of hope, hoping to find clues about the child.

All of them possessed cultivation, and their steps were light and quick. Before long, they had penetrated deep into the heart of the mountains. Further ahead lay the uninhabited area, which was also the place where Lin Weiguo had found the spirit stone last time.

"This is it, Xiao Wan, look! The walls inside this cave are full of spirit stones!" Lin Weiguo took the lead and led everyone into the cave.

Upon hearing the sound, Elder Xia, who was inside the space, also appeared to investigate.

Jiang Beixing touched and looked around, full of curiosity about everything.

“Girl, this is the entrance to a formation. Judging from its damaged state, something must be sealed inside. Based on the degree of decay of this formation, it is likely that the thing inside will reappear in the world within a few years.”

"Then I'll just break the formation with brute force!" Jiang Wanwan said, taking out Han Guang from her spatial storage and waving it around.

Old Xia was calculating good and bad fortune when he was suddenly startled by Jiang Wanwan's sword strike and almost lost his senses.

"I've never seen you so reckless before!" Old Xia hurriedly stepped forward to check if anything dangerous was emerging.
