Chapter 33 The Rebirth of the White Moonlight (10) A silent contest...
Chapter 33
Xia Zhi was a little uneasy the whole way. She was thinking about what Song Ye would do to deal with Lu Qi.
Lu Qi seemed to notice Xia Zhi's silence. He turned his head slightly to look at her, his eyes filled with a complex expression.
Xia Zhi met his gaze somewhat guiltily. Lu Qi's eyes seemed like bottomless pits, deep and unfathomable. Xia Zhi dared not look at him any longer and quickly looked away.
When the two returned to the villa, they both found Song Ye standing at the door.
Song Ye leaned against the door, lit a cigarette, and as he inhaled, his features gradually blurred. When the smoke cleared, his gaze was fixed intently on Xia Zhi.
Xia Zhi didn't expect Song Ye to come directly, and she couldn't help but look at Lu Qi.
Lu Qi seemed completely unsurprised; his expression remained calm.
The two men stared at each other silently, as if a contest was quietly beginning.
Finally, Song Ye relented and took the initiative to speak. His voice was deep and languid, as if he were just asking casually, "How have you been treating Zhizhi? She even called me to ask me to pick her up."
Lu Qi was taken aback upon hearing this, and turned to look at Xia Zhi. He suddenly realized that Xia Zhi had taken the opportunity to call Song Ye earlier. No wonder she didn't dare to look him in the eye; she was clearly hiding something from him.
Lu Qi wasn't exactly sad, but he felt a mix of emotions. He suddenly felt powerless and frustrated, which prompted him to ask, "Zhizhi, do you hate me?"
Xia Zhi looked at him and said seriously, "If you force me, I will."
Song Ye looked at Lu Qi, not intending to discuss it with him, and directly put out his cigarette: "Then I'll take her with me."
Lu Qi was somewhat at a loss until Song Ye spoke, at which point his gaze returned to focus. He stared intently at Xia Zhi, his voice tinged with pleading, "Zhi Zhi, please don't leave me again, okay?"
Xia Zhi looked away, pursed her lips, and didn't say a word.
Song Ye knocked hard on the door and looked at Lu Qi: "Open the door, Lu Qi. Zhizhi still needs to pack her things."
Lu Qi looked at him and, seeing his indifferent expression, couldn't help but ask, "Song Ye, are we still brothers?"
Song Ye paused for a moment, but did not answer his question directly.
Lu Qi went over and opened the door. He looked at Xia Zhi with a complicated expression: "Zhizhi, if you're not doing well with Song Ye, you can come to me anytime."
Xia Zhi was slightly surprised that Lu Qi gave in so quickly. She had thought she would have to argue with Lu Qi for a long time, until she lost her temper.
Now, with nowhere to vent her anger, she could only awkwardly say, "Of course I know."
The door opened, and Xia Zhi pushed it open and went upstairs. She didn't have many things, and she quickly finished packing.
When she came out, two men stood silently beside her. Just a few days ago, the two men were chatting and laughing at the same table, but today they wouldn't even spare a glance for the person next to them.
Song Ye stepped forward and gently took Xia Zhi's luggage. He didn't look at Lu Qi, but said, "I've already transferred one million, that should be enough, right?"
Xia Zhi was startled; she hadn't expected Song Ye to transfer such a large sum of money directly.
Lu Qi stood still, simply smiling: "Of course that's enough."
He looked at Xia Zhi with a somewhat forlorn expression.
Xia Zhi was actually a soft-hearted person. Afraid of regretting it, she quickly looked away, unwilling to meet Lu Qi's gaze.
Just as the two were about to leave, Lu Qi suddenly spoke up: "Song Ye, did you figure something out?"
Xia Zhi's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up at Song Ye.
Song Ye smiled gently: "Of course."
Xia Zhi wasn't sure when she had been exposed, but she could tell that Song Ye had always suspected her identity. From the initial probing to now, Song Ye's attitude towards her had been quite subtle.
Song Ye looked at Xia Zhi and gestured for her to get in the car: "Let's go."
After hesitating for a long time, Xia Zhi turned back to look at Lu Qi and said, "Boss Lu, I am very grateful to you these days."
Lu Qi kept staring at her, his gaze so focused it was unsettling.
He said softly, "Song Ling has a rather volatile temper. If he bullies you, come to me anytime."
Just as Xia Zhi was about to speak, Song Ye said, "There's no need to trouble outsiders with my brother's affairs."
Xia Zhi hadn't expected that the two of them would have such a tense argument because of her. She opened her mouth, but in the end, she silently got into Song Ye's car.
Xia Zhi didn't dare to look back at Lu Qi. Only after the car had driven far away did she slowly say, "Thank you, Song Ye."
While driving, Song Ye casually smiled and said, "It's nothing. Can you tell me why you suddenly changed your mind?"
Xia Zhi didn't know where to begin, and finally summarized it in one sentence: "He forced me, and I didn't like it."
Song Ye paused for a moment, then suddenly asked, "How do you know I won't force you?"
Xia Zhi looked at him with trepidation. In her memory, Song Ye was extremely cold and indifferent, and would never do such an absurd thing.
As she was considering her words, Song Ye chuckled softly: "Just kidding."
Xia Zhi didn't speak. She knew perfectly well that Song Ye was testing her, not just teasing her.
Song Ye added, "You can play some music, just like before."
Just as Xia Zhi was about to turn on the stereo, she suddenly realized that Song Ye's second half of his sentence was a test for her.
Regardless of how things have come to this point, it's no different from her admitting it outright.
She took a deep breath and decided to be frank: "Song Ye, I have something to tell you."
Song Ye said, "I'm all ears."
Xia Zhi didn't know how to explain this absurd situation, so she changed her approach: "Do you believe in... the idea of one soul having two lives?"
Song Ye glanced at her: "If you say you are Xia Zhi, I would have suspected it a long time ago."
Xia Zhi looked a little confused: "Why?"
Song Ye chuckled: "If you really like someone, you'll recognize them no matter what they look like."
Xia Zhi felt her face getting hot. Could Song Ye's words be considered a disguised confession?
Song Ye added, "Don't tell Song Ling yet. I'll try my best to help you."
Xia Zhi breathed a sigh of relief: "Okay, that's what I thought too."
Song Ye smiled and said, "After all, I don't want to argue with Xiao Ling."
Xia Zhi nodded, mentally planning how to pave the way for her future. After all, the story wasn't over yet; she still needed to move forward.
Now that Song Ye also knows her identity, then...
Song Ye suddenly spoke up: "Zhizhi, you asked me to come, and I came. I'll do anything you ask, but... shouldn't everything come with an equal exchange?"
Xia Zhi was speechless for a moment, after all, Song Ye had indeed helped her just now, and even transferred one million to Lu Qi.
For Xia Zhi now, this is no small sum.
So she asked, "What do you want me to do?"
