The old man was sleepy and yawned repeatedly. He wanted to continue the conversation, but he really couldn't go on any longer and had to call a halt.
Jiang Yu smiled and said, "Grandpa, you should go back to sleep first. We'll be home for a long time, so we have plenty of time to chat."
"Haha, good, my granddaughter-in-law speaks the best."
The old man stood up, put his hands behind his back, and Chen Cixiu followed him, escorting him back to his ancestral home.
The ancestral home wasn't next to their new houses, but it was only a few minutes' walk away.
However, the old man is getting on in years, so he walks relatively slowly.
But it won't take more than ten minutes.
After Chen Cixiu saw the old man off, he returned and saw Jiang Yu watching his parents play cards. He went over and asked, "Why aren't you taking a shower?"
"Son, I'm sorry, I was so engrossed in playing cards today that I forgot to boil water for you."
Professor Wu's eyes seemed to hold an apology, but not quite.
"It's okay, I'll take a shower later when I'm feeling better," Jiang Yu smiled.
Chen Cixiu nodded and sat down as well.
What happened next was a bit strange.
After Chen Cixiu sat down, his younger cousins also came over. Instead of setting up a new table, they sat down next to their parents.
Then, I saw eight people playing cards.
Chen Cixiu said to Professor Chen, "Dad, don't worry, I'll help you win this time."
Jiang Yu sat down next to Professor Wu and said, "I don't need to help Mom. Mom can win on her own."
"Hahaha."
...
The whole family was laughing tonight because of this card game.
As the event was ending, Jiang Yu asked, "Honey, I suddenly remembered, why didn't Grandma come up?"
"Grandma is playing mahjong with some other grandmas from the village."
Professor Wu stood up, rubbed his shoulders, and said, "I've been playing cards all day, I'm really tired."
"That explains why I didn't see Grandma."
"Yu Yu, go take a shower. After you shower, get some rest. If you get up early tomorrow, you'll see Xiao Xiu writing couplets."
Professor Wu said to Jiang Yu with a smile.
Speaking of this, Jiang Yu suddenly remembered, "That's right, it's his turn to write the couplets this year, and he mentioned it to me when he was upstairs."
"Yes, they change the person who writes the couplets every year, but don't worry, it's not our job, it's their own business."
Upon hearing Professor Wu's words, Chen Cixiu was on the verge of tears.
Although it wasn't my turn, everyone in my family actually has excellent calligraphy skills.
This is also what the old man values most.
Nothing was said that night.
The next morning, Chen Cixiu got up faster than Jiang Yu.
However, Jiang Yu got up five minutes after he did.
It is 7:00 AM now.
Jiang Yu believed it; Chenjia Village really was a place where one could easily fall asleep.
Last night at 11 p.m., she was planning to look at some documents before going to sleep, but she fell asleep in less than two minutes after sitting down to look at the documents.
Chen Cixiu helped her put the documents on the table.
She had never fallen asleep so quickly before, and she never expected to fall asleep so fast in Chenjia Village.
And they get up late.
If this were her own home, she would have gotten up at six o'clock.
Chen Cixiu was already eating breakfast.
After Jiang Yu finished brushing her teeth, she went out onto the balcony and saw a group of people gathered in the yard.
The table was placed right in the middle.
The brush, ink, paper, and inkstone were already prepared and placed on the table, and the old man was grinding the ink himself.
"Yu Yu is up."
"Sister-in-law, come down quickly and see Brother Xiu writing couplets."
Jiang Yu felt a little embarrassed; why was everyone up so early?
She hurried downstairs. Professor Wu noticed her daughter-in-law's unusual behavior and whispered in her ear, "Don't feel pressured. Look, Cixiu's cousins haven't gotten up yet. There are never any restrictions on this in the family. They can sleep as long as they want. Go and have breakfast first. Cixiu is having breakfast too."
With Professor Wu's comforting words, Jiang Yu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He went to the kitchen and saw Chen Cixiu and several of his cousins having breakfast.
"Honey, get up."
Chen Cixiu looked at her, and she walked to his side.
He asked, "Would you like some porridge or steamed buns?"
"Brother, couldn't you have given the porridge and steamed buns to your wife together?"
"that is."
"You're so immature."
Upon hearing this, Chen Cixiu thought, "Hey, it's your turn to lecture me now."
Jiang Yu was amused by their conversation.
After finishing breakfast, Jiang Yu asked, "Honey, why did you start writing so early?"
Chen Cixiu explained, "A family needs at least six couplets, which means I have to write more than ninety. Do you think I can avoid getting up early?"
Are there any other requirements?
You'll find out in a moment.
Chen Cixiu smiled.
After washing her bowl, I took her hand and led her to the group.
"grandmother."
"Oh dear, Yuyu, Grandma got so engrossed in playing mahjong yesterday."
"It's okay."
Jiang Yu held her grandmother's hand.
The old man said to Chen Cixiu, "Little Xiu, it's your turn this year. Let Grandpa see if you can still write as well as you did when you were eleven."
"Eleven years old?" Jiang Yu was taken aback.
"Yes, Xiao Xiu wrote the couplet when he was eleven years old. Now twelve years have passed. His grandfather is testing him," Grandma explained from the side.
"Grandma, more than ninety paintings, it must have taken you two days to write all of them," Jiang Yu asked curiously.
