Collective salvation

Collective salvation

The teaching building covers a much larger area than the previous dormitory area. As the main gathering place for teachers and students in the magic academy, the probability and number of encountering enemies are naturally incomparable.

To be honest, Ximu doesn't really like this kind of brightly lit place.

The night should have been her companion. Under its cover, she could have quietly sneaked up behind her target and sent them on their way cleanly and efficiently.

But at this moment, the magic lamps and the vast candlelight were so loud that the night was blocked outside the window lattice and could only look at her helplessly.

but……

Although the difficulty of stealth has increased, the enemy's intelligence seems to be not very good.

Across a long corridor, Xi Mu eliminated a chaos magician who had his back to her in full view of everyone - but his classmates who were across the corridor either turned a blind eye or reacted strangely. Even those who seemed to have noticed her just raised their staffs and gestured at her without attacking immediately.

Because... she was not within their attack range.

This is much more reassuring.

Ignoring the presence of these onlookers, Xi Mu estimated the number of enemies in the corridor in front of her, and stood up and rushed into the encirclement. Heavy magic brushed past her side, causing several star-shattering sounds.

But when the magic light faded, the silver-haired girl who was running towards them disappeared without a trace!

A doubtful look flickered in the magician's eyes on his neck and slowly moved towards the back of his head.

At this moment, he saw a flash of cold light.

Then, he saw the high dome, saw several classmates not far away, their heads and bodies torn apart, saw the pillars in the corridor, and saw the short-haired girl in priestly attire, who was hiding in the corner and peeking out...

Then, he couldn't see anything.

“…Wow.”

Morina sighed unconsciously, and when she saw that the crisis in the corridor was resolved, she followed.

"What about the agreement to proceed cautiously and explore each room one by one? You're so bold as to clear the area right away."

It is precisely because of caution that we have to deal with the obstacles on the escape route first... What if we encounter an opponent in the room that we cannot deal with immediately, and when we run out of the door we are blocked by the enemies lingering outside, wouldn’t that be troublesome?

But because he knew that Morina just liked to complain and might not have thought of these things, Ximu did not explain much. He just nodded towards the room closest to them, indicating that they should start from this room.

Every time you enter a strange room, the moment you walk through the door is always the most dangerous.

Therefore, the two of them gradually developed a tacit understanding. Every time they opened the door, they would each guard one side, trying not to miss any angle that might be attacked.

Fortunately, this time, the process of opening the door was relatively peaceful. There were no strange enemies falling from the sky and trying to splatter them with blood.

What was inside the door looked more like a laboratory than the classrooms I had seen before.

There are many long tables and chairs in the room, with various strange instruments on them. Colorful magical fluctuations are everywhere, creating magnificent and mysterious fluctuations.

"We're really in need of a magician here... Look at this lab, this table full of notes and key points. If I were a magician, I'd be so excited I'd move in today!"

It’s no wonder that Morina would have such feelings.

The tireless spirit of exploring the unknown reflected here really makes people instinctively feel awe and yearning.

What a pity...

One of them was an assassin, the other a priest. They felt really frustrated that the treasure house was right in front of them, but the treasures inside had nothing to do with them at all.

There aren't many enemies in this laboratory, and they're all huddled in a corner, seemingly discussing something. But if you look closely, you'll find that even their mouths seem to have melted, and they're waving and clapping their hands, perhaps to emphasize their own power.

Based on my previous experience fighting enemies, I knew that once an enemy had been dispersed, it was basically impossible to use magic, and my attack methods were limited to slime spray, crushing blows, and simple visual pollution...

But perhaps because they have lost their "vital points" in the physical sense, although their own attack power is not strong and they are easy to kill, they must be attached with some lethal magic to be truly eliminated.

However... after watching the futile argument in the corner for a long time, Ximu suddenly had another idea.

"There are still a few slime people scattered around the house... I'll drive them all together later. Go see if there's anything useful you can do."

After giving the instructions, Ximu slipped into the house. Using some special body movements or magic, he arrived at the lone monsters in a few seconds.

After attracting their attention, she jumped up the wall, gathered the enemies together, and then snapped her fingers.

A black magic circle appeared under the monsters. The next moment, they suddenly disappeared collectively and simultaneously appeared above the discussion group in the corner. They fell down and abruptly and forcibly joined this eternal discussion!

Immediately afterwards, several black rays of light rose from the ground and formed a circle. A cage-like barrier took shape instantly, trapping them firmly in place!

"...My binding spell doesn't last long, so hurry."

Most of the magic that Ximu learned was instantaneous, requiring almost no chanting and could be activated in a moment.

But again, choosing speed inevitably involves a trade-off in terms of magic power and durability—

Fortunately, the enemies in front of her were of the weakest type. If they were magicians with strong firepower, she would not dare to be so bold.

"Okay."

After experiencing the embarrassment of "I can't let it go, I really can't let it go" before, Molina learned her lesson this time. She took something out of her bag directly, shook it open, and it turned out to be a sturdy sack!

Because Ximu said that there was not much time, she didn't look at it carefully. She walked to the table piled with magic scrolls, waved her little hand, and coolly swept the things into the bag!

The people in the cage stared blankly at the slime, their faces, which no longer had complete facial features, forced a look of confusion.

After a while, someone may have finally realized that the things in their laboratory were being looted. They screamed and tried to stop it, but were stabbed by the black light of the cage. In the end, they could only silently turn into ashes amidst a bunch of gibberish sounds that no one could understand.

"What a sin, such a sin..."

The girl in the priest's robe had a look of grief on her face, but her hands did not stop moving at all.

"But it's a waste if things are left unused! Don't worry, if these scrolls are truly still usable, we will definitely use them properly, completely, and to the best of our ability. Just hand them over to us with confidence!"

Who are you talking to...

Ximu looked at Molina muttering there in silence, then looked at the group of slime people beside him who were either in a daze or starting to make gestures again, and thought about whether to just close the cage and kill them on the spot.

Anyway, I just wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to use more magic and restore my previous feel... This "binding cage" rarely traps so many opponents at once, and it's unexpectedly quite interesting.

"Hey, Ximu, keep them locked up for a while. I'll come over and pray for their salvation later."

Perhaps sensing Ximu's thoughts, Molina suddenly popped up from a distance and said this.

Ximu was puzzled: "All of them? That consumes too much magic power, right?"

Before, Morina had almost used up all of her magic power after just one purification and salvation. In order to save resources, she had to use meditation to recover. In order to avoid the enemy, she could only hide on the beam for a while.

Although this room seems relatively safe... but there are so many monsters here, it would probably take a lot of time to exorcise them one by one.

"I also have area-of-effect purification spells. And as for whether monsters will reappear after being exorcised, a single case alone doesn't tell us much. If we don't try more, how long will it take to come to a conclusion?"

Seeing that there was nothing left to take, Molina tied the bag tightly and dragged it back to Ximu, brushing off the unnecessary dust on her palms.

"Please take this out."

Ximu glanced at the sack on the ground, but didn't take it immediately, nor did he show any intention of letting go.

Morina was not scared off by her companion's disapproval. She chuckled and patted the other person on the shoulder.

"What's wrong? Are you worried about me? Oh, it's okay. If you're worried, just watch over me. All magic requires practice. Maybe if I use it a few times and become proficient, the cost won't be so great. If the purification can really reduce the number of enemies, it will be a good thing for us."

Having said that, Ximu vaguely felt that the reason why Morina wanted to save her enemies whenever she had the chance must be because of her pity and compassion as a priest.

Since that was the case, she didn't say anything, but just quietly moved away.

The familiar flowers bloomed again on Morina's staff. As she said, the purification spell cast this time should be a range-type one. The scale of the magic circle should be larger than before, the flow of runes is more complicated, and the expression on Morina's face is more painful.

Ximu was originally thinking about whether to increase the power of the "Binding Cage" to make the monsters in the cage more obedient. Unexpectedly, when the familiar golden-green light appeared, they all stopped their movements and stared blankly at the shadow of the holy tree that appeared in the magic circle.

Faintly, Ximu seemed to hear a lot of whispers.

But there were too many people talking at the same time, and they disappeared too quickly. Even with her amazing hearing, she couldn't hear the content of their words clearly, nor was she sure whether these words were the last message left by these monsters to the world.

However, this place is full of various "auditory hallucinations", and Ximu is no longer surprised.

When the real feeling of being bound in the trap disappeared, she immediately withdrew the magic and supported the swaying Morina, allowing her to sit steadily on the ground.

She looked even more tired than before, and even speaking was difficult.

"I'm fine. This time I really need to...drink a potion..."

Upon hearing this, Ximu was about to search in her bag, but Molina raised her hand to stop her. Then she reached into her wide sleeves and skillfully took out a bottle of green magic potion.

Green? Aren't mana-restoring potions usually blue?

But seeing how hard his companion worked, Ximu didn't ask any more questions. He just stayed by her side, quietly waiting for her to recover.
