Yao Tongjia initially wanted to refuse, but then she thought that she now owned a car, and with Qin Sang there, it shouldn't be a big problem. She also didn't want to take time off: "Okay, I'll go right now!"
Yao Tongjia asked Qin Sang, "You should be able to drive, right?"
"Yes, I can drive a tank. Do you want to go for a drive?"
"You want me to go see Ruan Tian in the detention center? Do you even know the way?"
Qin Sang nodded: "I know, it takes at least half an hour to drive there. Shall we go now?"
Yao Tongjia nodded. She was about to turn around and change her clothes, but after thinking about it, she knocked on her mother's door and said, "Mom, I have to go out!"
Yao Yanxin was somewhat surprised, knowing that her daughter rarely went out at night: "Why are you going out at this time?"
Yao Tongjia didn't want her to worry: "The school just called to say there's something I need to take care of, so Qin Sang and I are going back to check it out!"
Yao Yanxin didn't know what to say when she went to school, so she could only tell her, "Then hurry back!"
The outside world now is completely dark, unlike the neon lights of later generations. There is no entertainment at all, and most people don't go out at night.
Going out like this is actually quite dangerous!
After changing her clothes, Yao Tongjia saw her mother sitting in the living room. She looked upstairs and said, "Mom, I'll be right back. Don't tell Xiao Ge and the others!"
They're researching something else now. Oh, right, Xiao Ge gave me a hat this morning, saying he hoped I'd wear it when I went out.
Yao Tongjia went back to her room and took out a not-so-good-looking hat, which she put on anyway. The hat almost completely covered her hair!
Qin Sang scoffed, "It's June now, the weather's so hot, and there's no sun. Why are you wearing a hat?"
Yeah! Why wear a hat? Yao Tongjia also found it funny, but Xiao Gengwu wanted her to wear it, so she wore it out!
The two got into the car, and Qin Sang quickly drove off, shaking Yao Tongjia so badly that she almost threw up what she had eaten that night.
"Qin Sang, Sister Qin, we're not in a hurry, can you slow down? I feel like throwing up!"
Qin Sang kept her eyes on the road: "That's how you drive to have fun! There aren't many people on the side of the road anyway, so it won't hurt for us to drive faster!"
"You have nothing, but I do! Slow down!" Yao Tongjia suppressed her nausea; she was afraid she was really going to throw up!
"Alright, alright, you're the boss, I can only listen to you, I'll drive slowly!"
As the car slowed down, Yao Tongjia felt a little better. She had been feeling terrible. She straightened her hat, and Qin Sang, with her sharp eyes, still had the mood to mock her: "You're such a weirdo, why are you wearing a hat!"
Yao Tongjia did not answer Qin Sang's question. What exactly did Ruan Tian want to call her over so late at night?
Before I could even finish thinking about it, the car started shaking violently, followed by uncontrollable swaying from side to side.
Yao Tongjia quickly grabbed the hand: "What's wrong?"
Qin Sang broke out in a cold sweat, struggling to control the steering wheel with all her might, her hand muscles tense.
Where would I find the time to answer?
Yao Tongjia noticed something was wrong and rushed over to help, desperately turning the steering wheel until the car finally came to a slow stop.
Once the car had come to a complete stop, Qin Sang slumped into the driver's seat: "I was so scared! I thought we were going to die!! You were quick-witted too, coming to help, otherwise I almost wouldn't have been able to hold it down!"
Yao Tongjia was also covered in sweat. The hat wasn't breathable, but she didn't think about taking it off: "Did you get a flat tire?"
"We had a flat tire! Luckily we listened to you and slowed down, otherwise we would both be dead today!"
After the two had rested, Qin Sang got out of the driver's seat to check the tires, remembering that there was a spare tire in the back. Yao Tongjia rested for a while, then she also got out to check.
Modern jeeps are much taller than cars of later generations, where your feet are practically touching the ground. Yao Tongjia had barely taken a step when she sensed danger.
She jumped down immediately and heard the sound of a bullet. The bullet hit the jeep. If Yao Tongjia hadn't jumped down, the bullet would have hit her heart.
Qin Sang had already jumped over and shielded Yao Tongjia behind her. She also pulled out her pistol and fired a shot into the darkness. Soon after, a muffled groan was heard.
Qin Sang didn't dare leave Yao Tongjia, so she didn't go over to check. She turned around and fired two more shots, both of which were met with muffled groans. Qin Sang felt uneasy and pushed Yao Tongjia into the car.
"Don't move in the car, lock the doors, I'll look around!"
Qin Sang thought there were only one or two people coming, but she quickly realized there were at least five. She couldn't be passive; she had to take the initiative. She didn't have many bullets left and couldn't afford to waste time!
Yao Tongjia knew that she couldn't participate in such a gunfight, so she obediently got into the car and squatted down, trying to minimize her presence.
She let the car's iron walls form a protective barrier around her, but the car was only so big, and even though she was already incredibly short, her hat was still visible.
Qin Sang went all out, running over and headshotting one person with a single shot, then two more with two more. But her heart sank; two of the three shots she had fired earlier had hit those two people.
There were still three people in the darkness. She quickly went back to defend and saw one of them fire a shot into the car window.
Her heart was in her throat. The glass wasn't bulletproof, and Yao Tongjia was in danger!
She ran into range and fired a shot, this time a headshot, but she wasn't happy at all, because the other person had already fired a shot.
The glass was shattered, and Yao Tongjia's chances of survival were slim, but no matter what, she didn't back down, running and calling out, "Tongjia, Tongjia!"
Thinking no one would respond, Yao Tongjia's voice came through clearly: "I'm fine, I just feel a little dizzy!"
Were you shot?
"It feels like I've been shot, but it doesn't feel like it hurts. I just feel really dizzy!"
"Open the door, I'll show you!"
Yao Tongjia opened the door, and Qin Sang shoved the glass to the ground, climbed up, looked Yao Tongjia up, down, left, and right, and breathed a sigh of relief when she was sure that Yao Tongjia was really alright.
Before she could catch her breath, she noticed something that looked like a bullet on her hat.
Qin Sang rushed over to take a look and was immediately startled. It really was a bullet. She pulled the bullet out and examined it closely: "Are you sure your head is okay?"
Yao Tongjia slumped in her chair: "I feel a little dizzy and want to vomit!"
That's it? If that bullet had really hit him in the head, he would be dead. Right now he's just dizzy, which is already pretty good!
Qin Sang looked at the hat on her head: "What's the point of this hat? It's so hot, why are you wrapped up so tightly? If you don't want to, take it off!"
"Xiao Gengwu made this for me, saying it can protect against bullets!"
Qin Sang's eyes practically bulged out: "What did you say about bulletproof?"
