Chapter 1 Jingan City

Wei Jiao led the bandits to see the scenery of the East China Sea. Three more days passed, and then Wei Jiao began to drive them away.

"You've seen enough. I'm doing fine here. Go back and tell my father and mother that I'll go back to see them in a while."

I'll stay with you.

"What!"

Wei Jiao looked at him in surprise, circling him with suspicion.

"What are you thinking? I don't need you to accompany me. Besides, anyone can stay at Crystal Palace. Otherwise, it would have been full long ago."

"I won't stay here, and I won't eat the food here. I'll just follow you when you go out to protect your safety."

"Are you kidding me? I'm a thousand-year-old dragon, do I need your protection?"

The bandit stood with his arms crossed, staring at Wei Jiao without saying a word. Wei Jiao had always admired the bandit's stubbornness.

"I can't make that decision myself. I'll take you to ask His Highness Shuoyuan. It can only be done if he agrees."

As he spoke, he headed towards Qinghui Palace in the east, but was stopped by a servant at the door, who said that His Highness Shuoyuan had just left.

Wei Jiao slapped his forehead and realized that it was around the time Shuo Yuan was going to leave.

On the way back, the bandit said to Wei Jiao, "You didn't tell me where His Highness went."

"Because I don't know either, he never takes me with him."

"Do you want to know what he went to do?"

Wei Jiao stared wide-eyed at the bandits. She had been curious before, but since Shuo Yuan wouldn't say, she didn't bother asking. But...

What do you want?

“He had just left, let’s follow him and see.”

"You're too bold. His Highness's magical power is so high, he will definitely find me."

"Then you shouldn't go. His Highness has never seen me before, so even if he notices something, he won't care. I'll be careful and tell you when I get back."

Wei Jiao remained silent. Although she felt the idea was a bit off, she admitted she was tempted and really wanted to know everything about him.

Seeing her silence, the bandit understood, and then turned and flew away.

Wei Jiao returned to her courtyard, her mind in turmoil. She had many thoughts running through her mind and vaguely felt that what the bandits were doing was dangerous. It might break some kind of peace, and it might make Shuo Yuan hate her. But if she didn't go to see it, she would really be unwilling. She had a premonition that it was a very important matter.

The bandits returned five days later, even later than Shuoyuan.

Wei Jiao has been restless these past few days, worrying about this and that, as if she has made up for all the time she hadn’t used her brain before.

But the bandits were very strange. As soon as they returned, they grabbed her and tried to take her back to Qinghai Lake without saying a word.

"I'm perfectly fine here, why should I go back?"

"Don't think I can't see why you're staying here, but Shuoyuan isn't right for you. You're coming back with me right now."

"What are you talking about! I..."

“Don’t tell me you don’t like him,” the bandit interrupted her. “Even a fool could see that you’re always following him around like a tail. The whole East China Sea is laughing at you. Stop embarrassing yourself here and come back with me.”

These words were extremely blunt, and Wei Jiao, whose secret had been exposed, was furious: "Are you sick? What I do is none of your business. So what if I'm embarrassed? Is it your place to embarrass me?"

The bandit took a deep breath and said, "Your father ordered me to take you back."

"How could my father suddenly... you've already gone back?"

"Yes, I explained the situation to the Dragon King, and he asked me to take you back."

"Impossible, everything was fine before, how could it be so sudden?" Wei Zi couldn't accept leaving Shuoyuan and kept shaking her head.

The bandit stared at him and asked, "Do you want to know where Shuoyuan has been these past few days, and what he's been doing?"

Wei Zi looked up at her. She was reluctant, but she heard her own voice say one word: "I want to."

Qinghai Lake is located in a remote and sparsely populated area, so Wei Zi's impression of humans as a child was all from pictures in books.

When she grew up, she would sneak off to visit small towns and cities, which weren't very interesting. After a few visits, she became too lazy to go out anymore. As a result, Wei Zi never really experienced the prosperity of the human world.

Jing'an City was a bustling metropolis in the human world that Wei Zi had never imagined.

Jing'an City is not far from the sea, boasting beautiful scenery, including Mount Penglai, known as the "First Immortal Mountain by the Sea." Its fishing and salt industries are thriving, and its seafood is particularly famous. The people of the Great Zhou Kingdom love good food, so many tourists come here. Having never experienced war, Jing'an City is now the second largest city in the Great Zhou, with a population exceeding four million.

The bandits led Wei Jiao all the way to the prefect's mansion in Jing'an City.

The weather was fine, and the two demons used their skills to conceal themselves and sneak inside. The prefect's mansion was vast, filled with exquisitely crafted pavilions, towers, and winding corridors. The bandits, familiar with the place, led Wei Jiao to the back courtyard, into a woman's boudoir.

It was a woman wearing a pale yellow dress, with a slender figure, cascading black hair, delicate and beautiful features, and a body as supple as a tender bud on a tree in spring. She looked at the two monsters who had suddenly barged in with horror.

Wei Jiao understood almost immediately upon seeing the woman.

This woman is the secret of Shuoyuan.
