Feng Luo, oh, now this body is controlled by someone else.
She stepped forward to help Lü Huanhuan up and led her into the cave. Then she took Liu Guifang in and settled her in. The stones and vines that had blocked the cave entrance yesterday were still there, and she quickly sealed the entrance halfway back up.
They gathered some weeds left over from yesterday and covered themselves with them. The three of them huddled together, no longer speaking.
The screams continued in the woods tonight.
There were also sounds of wild animals outside. They could hear the sound of their claws scratching at the stones, and their snorting, which seemed to be right above their heads.
Finally, several groups of wild animals arrived outside the cave one after another, and two groups even fought each other. It was unclear whether the animals were not interested in the prey inside the cave or for some other reason, but no wild animals entered the cave until dawn.
From the very first bird song, as if by unspoken agreement, all the wild beasts retreated, the screams ceased, and faint cries drifted on the wind, their direction indistinguishable—perhaps from every direction.
Feng Luo brushed aside the weeds covering her body, carefully checked the surroundings at the edge of the cave, and after confirming it was safe, pushed aside the stone blocking the cave entrance and stood outside the cave.
Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the leaves. She shielded her eyes from the sunlight with her hand, looked up at the sky through her fingers, and unconsciously smiled.
For so many years, I haven't felt the glare of the sun, nor the gentle breeze on my body!
When she was in Feng Luo's mind, she could see what Feng Luo was going through, but she had no five senses. How long had it been since she felt... hunger?
Feng Luo lowered her head and touched her stomach. The most important thing now was to find something to eat and, ideally, to find the main group as soon as possible. Although she had watched survival shows, this place felt more like a hunting ground than a forest.
"Luo Luo." Two timid voices sounded from behind.
She looked back and saw that the two girls were actually quite loyal; they hadn't abandoned her after yesterday's situation, and had half-dragged, half-carried her here.
Lü Huanhuan and Liu Guifang were terrified yesterday; they could hardly believe they had survived, and...
"Luo Luo, you... seem like a different person?"
"Me? No." Knowing they would be suspicious, Feng tried to imitate Feng Luo's speech and changed the subject, saying, "Huanhuan, I'm hungry."
The two girls found it strange, but couldn't quite put their finger on it. They walked over to her and took out a few fruits: "These were picked yesterday, and there are still some left."
"What do we do now?" Lü Huanhuan asked.
Feng Luo pretended to be dull and kept his head down without saying a word, but his mind was racing at the same time.
It seems I underestimated the complexity of my previous thinking.
How should we break this deadlock?
Ultimately, the three decided to go find a team.
After walking for an hour, they rested for a while, stuffed a few wild vegetables into their mouths to fill their stomachs, and then continued on their way.
However, the journey that followed was not smooth: large areas of forest were leveled, as if some giant creature had rolled around in the woods.
The original markings were gone, and the three of them didn't know which way to go. They groped their way along for a while and then began to see blood and severed limbs. Very few intact corpses appeared. All three of them turned pale and their legs went weak.
"Waaaaah, Huanhuan, I'm scared!" Liu Guifang couldn't stop crying.
"I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid." Lü Huanhuan herself was trembling.
Although Feng Luo was a time traveler, he had never seen such a human tragedy.
The smell of blood mixed with the scent of soil and vegetation irritated her stomach. She turned over and vomited, bringing up all the fruits and wild vegetables until her stomach was empty, at which point she felt a little better.
The three of them helped each other around the area, and the woods returned to their original state. They searched carefully and found the strips of cloth again, which cheered them up a bit.
Finally, they arrived at a cave. This cave was even more secluded, but the area outside was also a mess, with rocks scattered around the entrance and a foul stench emanating from inside.
