Chapter 48

Two rows of guards stood in the courtyard, their expressions obscured by the darkness, but they seemed to be watching her make a fool of herself.

Ah Jiang was very frustrated, and his face was full of stubbornness.

"Looks like you're still not convinced. Well then, I'll show you where you went wrong."

He turned his head and gestured to the First Madam.

"You greeted the guests as soon as you knew who they were? You even went out with them, causing trouble and getting into a fight with the fourth young master of the Gao family, and getting entangled with the Murong family's brat. As a young lady of the Bai family, do you have any regard for the family's reputation?!"

Ah Jiang shook his head desperately.

"You're probably cursing us elders in your heart for not giving you any advice, but when have you ever listened to what we said? You always think we're trying to harm you, and you've always been prejudiced against us. Do you even consider us your elders? If you had just sent someone to ask us, would things have turned out this way?"

Hearing these words, the old man's gaze grew colder and colder, as if he despised this girl for being his daughter.

With a flick of his sleeve, A-Jiang felt the power sealing him lessen somewhat.

A-Jiang spoke up, "Father, you didn't even listen to my thoughts before sending people to arrest me and bring me here. It seems you already have a plan to deal with me and think everything I said was just sophistry. So, I would like to ask you, how do you intend to deal with me?"

"Thirty strokes of the cane."

"Thirty?" A-Jiang was so angry she almost laughed.

"You want to kill me, don't you?"

"You won't learn your lesson unless you're taught a lesson. How many times have I told you to change your temper and listen to what the family says? And every time you've gone against me!" The old man's expression showed no softening. "When I try to reason with you, do you listen?"

"Why should I listen to you? I have my own ideas and plans for my life. You gave me life, but that doesn't mean you can control it. If you can't respect me, why should I listen to you?"

Ah Jiang was also truly enraged. Although she had inherited the original owner's memories, she was still a different person, and she kept a distance from the Jiang family.

Actually, what Master Jiang said is right. From the beginning, Ah Jiang had a prejudice against the couple and never thought that their relationship would ever improve.

Ah Jiang's plan from beginning to end was to leave this home and cultivate immortality.

The First Madam said leisurely, "Children will never know their place if they don't suffer a little. It's not that I, as their stepmother, am heartless. As the saying goes, 'A fall into a pit, a gain in your wit.' From now on, make things easier for your father and don't cause trouble for the family."

"I do not accept this punishment."

Ah Jiang said, her neck stiff, that thirty strokes of the cane would really kill her.

“You have no right to treat me like this. I’m going to see my grandmother.”

“I’ve already told you the reasons and given you a chance to argue. If you had begged for mercy and sincerely admitted your mistakes just now, I would have reduced your sentence, but you showed no remorse whatsoever. After today’s punishment, you will be confined to your room for three months to reflect on your actions.”

After finishing his sentence, the master waved his sleeve and left.

beg for mercy?

Why beg for mercy when you're already in such a miserable state and want to make things even worse?

The First Madam looked at A-Jiang and said calmly, "Let's begin."

Ah Jiang was placed on a wooden chair and began to be beaten with a stick.

The guard used hidden force when he hit him, and Ah Jiang couldn't withstand the first blow. His spiritual energy was in disarray, and he had no way to resist.

The pain pierced straight into my heart, leaving me nowhere to escape.

The First Madam smiled with pleasure as she looked at the scene.

one two three……

After just three strikes, A-Jiang's back was already torn open.

She was just a little girl, with a very thin body, the kind of body that could get sick from a gust of wind.

"I begged for mercy," Ah Jiang thought. "If I had known it would hurt this much, I might have begged for mercy."

"But," she thought, glancing around.

No one here will feel sorry for her; begging for mercy will only give them more pleasure and pride, making them feel like the victors.

Five, six, seven...

Blood stained the stick, a large patch spread across the clothes, and thick blood dripped onto the ground.

She felt as if she had been thrown into a meat grinder. Her flesh and bones were being repeatedly pounded and ground up.

"Scumbag and bitch!" she cursed, wishing them no good end. But now she was about to be beaten to death by this despicable couple.

Ten, eleven, twelve...

Ajahn was on the verge of death.
