Flowing Light Side Story 1

The person on the bed struggled to get up, their demonic energy surging uncontrollably, their eyes bloodshot as they stared at them, wishing they could devour them immediately.

In fact, they had already felt the continuous loss of spiritual energy within their bodies. The tree roots not only absorbed spiritual energy, but perhaps after the spiritual energy was drained, even their flesh and blood could be used as nourishment for this tree demon.

Just as the group was about to collapse, a beautiful woman in green rushed to the man on the bed and used a spell to save them from death, temporarily stopping the tree roots from absorbing their spiritual energy.

"Third Brother, don't rush. The seven people we found this time have good aptitude. I'll use a forbidden technique to activate them and maximize their potential, so you'll be more comfortable later. Can you release them now?"

The man called Third Brother looked at the people in front of him, nodded in confusion, and called out "Yao Yao Yao Yao" a few times before releasing the group.

The seven people fell to the ground in a sorry state, their spiritual energy almost completely drained, leaving them with no strength to escape or resist.

Upon hearing this, the group realized that the female demon had disguised herself as a child to lure them here.

Receiving resentful glares from several people, Yao Yao—or rather, Qing Yao's demon sister—walked up to them and said to herself, "Let's give Third Brother one to eat first today. Who should we give him?"

She stared at the group of people, seemingly hesitant.

"You vixen! We were so eager to help you, and this is how you treat us? Aren't you afraid of retribution?"

Mu Qingyan was the first to succumb to the pressure and cried out.

"Your obedience is the greatest help you can give me, and I will be very grateful for your efforts. As for retribution, she stared into Mu Qingyan's eyes and said, 'I'm not afraid!'"

A sword flashed past, leaving a bloody mark on the face of the demoness Qingyao, and half of her black hair was cut off. She looked at Qin Weiyu, who had launched the hidden weapon, with surprise.

"Why are even righteous people starting to use hidden weapons to launch sneak attacks nowadays?"

Her response was three hidden arrows that remained stationary at the same angle. She dodged them in a flustered manner and glared fiercely at Qin Weiyu.

However, Qin Weiyu gave her no chance to catch her breath and engaged her in a fierce battle with his sword.

Qin Weiyu gave her no chance to use magic, and being unskilled in martial arts, she soon found herself unable to defend herself.

Finally, having exhausted all other options, she cried out, "Third Brother, help me!"

With her shouting, Third Brother might not be able to keep these seven people until tomorrow.

The man, who had just been comforted in bed, immediately went berserk.

His eyes were bloodshot, and countless tendrils shot out from his hands, striking Qin Weiyu but stopping just short of her face.

For the first time ever, a bluish-green light appeared on Qin Weiyu's wooden sword, as if calming the restless man. The man's eyes slowly returned to normal, and the tree roots retracted.

Taking advantage of Qing Yao's momentary daze, Qin Weiyu leaped to the man's bedside and grabbed his throat with both hands.

Qingyao was startled by the scene before her and hurriedly said, "Please, don't hurt him, I'll let you go."

Qin Weiyu looked at the man in her hand and asked, "What happened to him?"

Qingyao lowered her head and said sadly, "He was seriously injured. I have no way to heal him. I can only keep him alive like this, but the injury cannot be cured and is getting worse."

"What injury?"

"this﹍﹍"

Qin Weiyu glanced at the man's blood-stained robe and figured that the wound might have reopened, so she reached out and tore open the man's shirt.
