Chapter 34

Chapter 34

After Lin Jiu got in the car.

Chen Miao opened the driver's door and was about to get in when he heard a tentative question from behind him.

"Chen Miao?"

Seeing him pause, the man who spoke seemed to confirm his identity, clapped his hands excitedly, making a "pa" sound, and shouted loudly: "Chen Miao, it really is you."

The man's voice was very recognizable. It was powerful and full of energy.

Chen Miao hadn't heard this voice for almost three years. It was familiar yet unfamiliar.

I never thought I would meet you here.

He bent down and said to Lin Jiu in the car, "I met an acquaintance. Please sit for a while."

Lin Jiu nodded at him.

After closing the car door, Chen Miao turned around and looked at the man, and found that he had not changed at all.

He was a little overweight before, but after three years he didn't lose any weight and even gained a little weight, which made him look more honest and kind.

Zheng Qingcheng walked quickly towards Chen Miao, then stopped and leaned against the backseat window, looking at him and saying, "I saw you from a distance and thought it was an illusion. Why did you go back to Jinhai?"

Chen Miao lowered his eyes slightly and answered casually: "Go to college."

Thinking of Chen Miao's grades in junior high school, Zheng Qingcheng asked, "Jinhai University?"

"Um."

Taking a deep breath, Zheng Qingcheng smiled and said, "As expected, it has to be you... Tang Jili and I are both at Hua University, and we are far inferior to you."

Huada, also known as East China University, is a well-known local university in Jinhai, ranked 89th in China.

Chen Miao slowly raised his eyes to look at him and said calmly, "It seems that you have made a lot of progress in the three years of high school."

Tang Jili is smart and has more than enough ability to get into Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

As for Zheng Qingcheng, he was clever, but he spent his junior high school years mostly eating, drinking, and having fun, often earning poor grades. His admission to Huazhong University must have been a testament to his hard work.

Hearing this, Zheng Qingcheng scratched his head awkwardly, "...People always grow up."

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and asked, "I saw a girl next to you just now. Is she your girlfriend?"

He was about to bend down to look inside the car window when Chen Miao bent his middle finger and tapped the car body, interrupting him: "Don't look around."

Perhaps it was because Chen Miao's tone was too cold that Zheng Qingcheng couldn't help but shiver.

He quickly retracted his gaze, stood up properly, coughed lightly and said, "It seems that she is really your girlfriend."

After saying that, he immediately shouted into the car: "I'm so sorry, I was so abrupt."

"......" Lin Jiu put his hands on the back of the chair and peeked at what was happening outside.

His attitude was fine, but his shouting was exceptionally loud. Chen Miao rubbed his temples, feeling a slight headache from the noise.

Seeing the atmosphere relaxed, Zheng Qingcheng regained his composure in a second: "I just came over to say hello to you. After all, we haven't seen each other for three years. How about we get together sometime?"

After a few seconds of silence, Chen Miao nodded and said, "Let's make an appointment later."

After receiving a positive answer, Zheng Qingcheng took a few steps back and waved at him with a smile: "Okay, see you later."

Sitting in the driver's seat, Chen Miao fastened his seat belt, looked at Lin Jiu and said, "Sorry for the long wait."

Lin Jiu waved his hand at him, "No, you two didn't talk for long."

Then, she asked curiously, "Is he your friend?"

Chen Miao glanced in the rearview mirror. Zheng Qingcheng had already disappeared. "I guess so, but not completely."

He explained: "We were in the same class in junior high school and played together for a while, but our friendship wasn't that deep..."

After a few seconds of pausing, he continued, "I'll introduce you to him later when I have the chance."

Lin Jiu nodded slightly and said "hmm".

Then he started the car and slowly drove out of the parking lot.

Before leaving the city, the car passed a street lined with shops of all kinds.

Suddenly, the word "supermarket" caught Lin Jiu's eyes.

Suddenly, she remembered the pile of things in the car and glanced back at the exquisite shopping bags on the seat with big brand logos on them.

After just a few seconds of thinking, she had a great idea.

She looked at Chen Miao and said, "I want to go to the supermarket to buy some things. Please stop by when you pass by."

As soon as she finished speaking, Chen Miao saw a supermarket, a large chain store, and said, "Okay, there's one right outside. I'll pull over."

After the car stopped, Lin Jiu quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and said to Chen Miao, "I'll be back soon."

After entering the supermarket, she trotted to the daily necessities area, picked up the items she wanted, checked out and left.

The round trip should take no more than ten minutes.

After Lin Jiu got in the car, Chen Miao saw the folded red, blue and white checkered items in her hand and fell into deep thought for a moment.

"What's wrong?" His puzzled look was too obvious for Lin Jiu to ignore.

"......What is this?" Chen Miao asked.

"Snakeskin bags, usually used to hold quilts."

After a few seconds of silence, Chen Miao asked again: "Have you ever needed it recently?"

Lin Jiu pointed to the pile of things at the back and said, "I plan to throw away all the packaging, then stuff the contents into this plastic bag and take it back to the dormitory. It's hard to carry so many things at once, so it's much easier to drag this up."

The above is one of the reasons. The more important reason is that she wants to be low-key and doesn't want to show off those things, so she disguises herself a little.

After hearing her answer, Chen Miao said, "Originally, I wanted to ask the dorm manager to help you take it up, and I just wanted to give her a little reward."

"That's a good idea," Lin Jiu nodded in agreement. Then, changing the subject, she added, "But it's not bad like this now either. I can get it up there myself. It looks like there's a lot of stuff in the back, but it won't be too heavy."

It seemed like Chen Miao was about to say something, probably something like insisting on spending some money and asking the dormitory manager to help get it up there.

Lin Jiu interrupted him and said, "Let me do what I can do myself."

He had obviously just spent a lot of money, but Lin Jiu insisted on such a small matter.

She thinks that if she can do something by herself without spending any money, she will insist on doing it herself.

Chen Miao wasn't some spoiled rich kid; he just didn't want Lin Jiu to do something so tiring. He didn't want Lin Jiu to do anything that could be solved with money. However, seeing her unusual stubbornness, he had no choice but to respond, "Okay."

When they were almost near the school, Lin Jiu asked Chen Miao to stop the car and put all the things into a snakeskin bag.

As for the packaging bags, I threw them all into a large trash can in the school when I passed by it.

She dragged the bag back to the dormitory smoothly.

While in the car, she asked others in the group whether they were in the dormitory, and they all said they hadn't returned yet.

She knew very well that there was no one in the dormitory, so she had no psychological burden when she brought it up, and she didn't have to explain too much to others.

Under the bright light, the snakeskin bag took up a lot of space.

Lin Jiu unzipped the bag and looked at it, trying to figure out what to do with it. There were too many things for the washing machine to wash all at once, and there wasn't enough space on the balcony to dry them. He could only wash and dry them in batches, taking his time.

She opened her closet. There weren't many clothes in it, just things she'd picked out from home that weren't too shabby. Three sets of T-shirts and trousers, two autumn coats, and two sweaters.

In high school, I wore uniforms year-round, so I didn't need a lot of clothes. After school started, I spent most of my time in military training, so I didn't need any regular clothes. So, I had a few clothes, but they were enough. Now I've bought a lot of clothes, covering both summer and autumn, so I never have to worry about running out of clothes.

She selected some clothes that she could wear in the near future, took them out and put them on a chair, and then stuffed the rest of the clothes into the bottom shelf of the closet.

After putting away the snakeskin bag, everything seemed as if nothing had happened.

It was almost nine o'clock when Zhou Jingmeng and Liu Qing returned.

At this time, Lin Jiu had finished blowing his hair and hanging up the clothes, and was lying on the bed playing with his mobile phone.

Zhou Jingmeng had been out for most of the day, and her heels were already tired. She was carrying a few shopping bags in one hand and opening the door with the other, when she was caught off guard by the leisurely Lin Jiu.

She was a little surprised and asked, "Aren't you on a date? Why did you come back earlier than us?"

Lin Jiu stretched one hand out of the bed and counted on his fingers, "I watched a movie, had dinner, went shopping, and did a lot of things."

Zhou Jingmeng exclaimed: "Oh my God, is your date so boring?"

Liu Qing, who was following behind her, retorted, "It's not boring, it's just a normal date."

Lin Jiu nodded and said, "That's what people do on dates."

Putting down her handbag and plopping down on the chair, Zhou Jingmeng looked up at Lin Jiu and asked, "Have you told your boyfriend about the confession wall today?"

Lin Jiu shook his head, "No, I don't think there's any need to say it."

Liu Qing walked over to Zhou Jingmeng and gave Lin Jiu some advice: "You can talk to him and warn him to avoid being snatched away by others."

Zhou Jingmeng agreed: "That's right!"

Lin Jiu supported his head with his hands, thought for a few seconds, and replied, "There must have been many people chasing him in high school, but he ended up with me. I have a certain amount of confidence in him, and I don't think anyone can really steal him away. If he really gets seduced by someone else, I don't mind. It's good to cut losses in time."

Zhou Jingmeng hadn't expected her to answer like that, but she felt it made perfect sense. He gave her a thumbs-up and said, "You're so good... You can think like that even when facing such a handsome guy. You're a role model for us."

Liu Qing, who was standing by, suddenly asked, "Do you really like him? I don't think liking someone is like this."

Lin Jiu didn't hesitate to answer this question, "Of course I like him, otherwise I wouldn't be dating him. But I don't want to restrict him or make any demands on him. I hope he can be more self-aware and keep a certain distance from other girls without me telling him. If I need to emphasize it... then he's already halfway out."

After hearing this, Zhou Jingmeng's expression was very exaggerated. "You have such high expectations of your boyfriend. Does he know?"

Lin Jiu: "He doesn't know, but I think he can definitely do it."

Liu Qing sighed: "It seems that you really have confidence in him."

Lin Jiu smiled and said, "Of course, he has always been very sensible."

After she finished speaking, she sat up, as if she had remembered something. She looked at them and said, "I've always forgotten to introduce myself to you. My boyfriend's name is Chen Miao. Erdong Chen, as in the Miao of mountains and rivers."

Zhou Jingmeng said unhappily, "You finally remembered to tell us your boyfriend's name. It's been more than half a month."

Liu Qing smiled: "Yes, so much so that we always call him your boyfriend."

Lin Jiu clasped his hands together and said very sincerely, "My bad."

It was mainly because she wasn't familiar with them at the beginning of the school year, and she and Chen Miao had just established a relationship, so she didn't want to mention anything related to Chen Miao, mainly because she didn't want to be gossiped about. Coincidentally, they didn't ask his name, so she never mentioned it.

Originally, it wasn't a big deal. Zhou Jingmeng, in a dramatic mood, imitated the Queen's gesture and waved her hands, saying, "Then I'll reluctantly forgive you."
