116. Drowning
"Yue'er doesn't want to hear this!" The little dumpling looked at Lin Fuman with tears in her eyes. "Yue'er doesn't like you, you're a bad person!"
She turned and ran.
"What? Wait a minute!" Lin Fuman was startled and quickly got up to grab her.
But the little dumpling got up earlier than her and ran very fast. She had only taken two steps when the little dumpling disappeared into the bushes.
Lin Fuman stood there dumbfounded, realizing that he had really offended the little dumpling this time.
The little dumpling ran a few steps, then stood still and thought about which way to go.
The tall bushes completely concealed her short figure. She turned around and, through the gaps in the branches, saw Lin Fuman pacing back and forth by the lake.
The little dog was curled up and trembling.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" Lin Fuman was furious. "What did I say wrong?!"
Lin Fuman was furious. He glared at the little dog beside him and said viciously, "It's all your fault, you good-for-nothing! You're useless and can't keep anyone here!"
She rushed over and kicked the puppy!
But the puppy darted to the side and successfully dodged the kick.
"ah!--"
Lin Fuman was caught off guard and couldn't stop in time, so he fell forward!
With a loud crash, she fell directly into the koi pond!
"Help! Help..."
Lin Fuman struggled desperately in the water, but after shouting twice, he choked on a mouthful of water and began to sink after a short while.
When she reached the water and cried for help but no one answered, she remembered that she was too embarrassed to apologize to the little dumpling in public, so she sent the servants away and came over secretly.
After all, she had lured the little dumpling over using underhanded methods.
"Sister Fufu!" The little dumpling was caught off guard and panicked.
Lin Fuman in the pool had stopped struggling and slowly sank into the water, with only a few strands of hair still floating on the surface.
The little dumpling's face turned pale, and his thoughts almost stopped.
Until she suddenly remembered something, she turned around and ran outside.
She ran while crying out, "Big brother! Big brother, help me!"
In such a chaotic state, she managed to barely remember the way she had come.
She stumbled back and saw Jin Qizhi anxiously looking around in the crowd from afar.
When her small figure came into view, Jin Qizhi practically ran over and picked her up in his arms.
"Moon! Where have you gone!" Jin Qizhi's voice trembled, his face filled with panic. "I can't find you anywhere!"
"Big brother... quick... Sister Fufu..." The little dumpling cried so hard she could barely breathe, her little hands clutching Jin Qizhi's clothes tightly, "She fell into the water... help her..."
She spoke incoherently, but she revealed the key information.
Jin Qizhi's expression changed drastically, and he immediately grabbed his sister and ran in the direction she pointed.
Seeing this, the group of teenagers behind them followed suit, and one of them shouted, "Quick, go get help! Someone's drowning!"
The servants of the Duke of Anguo's mansion panicked, calling for help and running around, abandoning all their work.
Unfortunately, by the time they arrived at the koi pond, the water had already returned to calm, with only a few ripples spreading outwards.
Without saying a word, the servants jumped into the water, diving in and surfacing again, constantly searching for Lin Fuman's figure.
After searching underwater for a while, a group of people finally found Lin Fuman and pulled her ashore with great effort.
Lin Fuman, who was dragged ashore, was soaking wet and his face was pale. He lay quietly on the ground, motionless.
"Sister Fufu..." The little dumpling trembled as she tried to step forward, but was pulled back by Jin Qizhi, whose face had turned pale.
"Don't touch her," Jin Qizhi's voice trembled, "Wait for the doctor to come."
A bad feeling settled over everyone, especially the children present.
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps and cries came from afar.
Duke Anguo, his principal wife, and his concubine arrived in haste, surrounded by a group of servants.
Duke Anguo's eyes widened in fury when he saw Lin Fuman lying on the ground: "Fufu!"
He staggered to Lin Fuman's side and hugged Lin Fuman's small body tightly: "Look at your father!"
The aunt's face turned pale, and she swayed slightly. After barely regaining her balance, she demanded sharply, "What happened?!"
The first wife also stepped forward quickly, but when she saw Lin Fuman's lifeless face, her face turned ashen.
She instinctively looked around: "Where's Lingrong? Where is my Lingrong?"
The physician from the manor finally arrived amidst the chaos. He immediately knelt down to carefully examine Lin Fuman's condition, his brows furrowing deeper and his expression growing increasingly grave.
After a moment, he stammered, "Lord Duke... the Second Miss... she's already dead..."
"Impossible!" Duke Anguo nearly went mad. "Impossible! My Fufu can't be dead! You quack! I'll kill you!"
"No, no..." The aunt also trembled and stepped forward, kneeling on the ground and embracing her daughter's already cold body.
The little dumpling stared blankly at all of this.
Is Sister Fufu dead?
Was she not running fast enough?
She subconsciously took two steps forward, looking at her aunt and the Duke of Anguo.
Everyone turned to look at the two of them, their eyes filled with pity.
The man who had been all smiles and dressed elegantly that morning was now dressed in clothes soaked with water from Lin Fuman's body, and his hair was disheveled.
He looked utterly undignified, but he felt nothing. He simply held his daughter's body tightly, trying to warm her with his own body heat, and kept calling her name, attempting to wake her up.
Her mother's heavily made-up face, chapped and cracked, also revealed the most genuine pain beneath.
In just a few breaths, Duke Anguo aged and deteriorated, his voice like a cuckoo crying blood, almost a wail.
Duke Anguo suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with terrifying hatred: "Who killed my daughter?!"
He noticed the little girl standing to the side and immediately rushed over to grab her hand: "Princess, Princess, tell me, who pushed Fufu into the water? Was it Lin Lingrong? Was it her?!"
His face contorted with rage: "I'm going to kill her! I'm going to make them all pay with their lives! Pay for my daughter's life!"
The little dumpling was terrified, and tears streamed down her face.
She opened her mouth, but didn't know how to answer.
Jin Qizhi quickly stepped forward to separate the two, but Duke Anguo's strength was extraordinary at this moment, and he was unable to budge him.
The little dumpling didn't know how to answer.
Should we tell the truth? Should we say that Sister Fufu tried to kick the puppy but accidentally fell into the water?
But if she tells the truth, will the puppy die?
This isn't the puppy's fault...
Should I lie?
But lying is wrong...
Just as she was wavering, the little dumpling suddenly noticed that Lin Fuman's finger seemed to move slightly.
