342. The Finale
Days passed by, and soon it was the New Year.
The sound of firecrackers lasted for a long time on New Year's Eve.
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, just as dawn broke, the little dumpling was gently picked up by Jiang Xiyue.
She rubbed her eyes, snuggled her little head into Jiang Xiyue's arms, and said indistinctly, "Mother, sleep a little longer... Yue'er is sleepy..."
"Why is our little savior still in bed?" Jiang Xiyue smiled and pinched her little cheek.
The little dumpling puffed out its chubby cheeks, its little head still a bit fuzzy: "Moon isn't the savior, everyone saved her together."
In the end, the little dumpling didn't reveal everything she had seen, but everyone tacitly guessed a lot.
Jiang Xiyue smiled and helped her put on her bright red new cotton-padded jacket: "Okay, whatever Yue'er says goes."
"However, we have to go to the palace today, so we can't sleep in."
"Have you forgotten? The little princess is still waiting for you."
"Little Cloud!" The little dumpling woke up instantly, blinked its eyes, rubbed its chubby little face, and successfully fought off its sleepiness.
She obediently reached out for Jiang Xiyue to help her button up her clothes: "Then Yue'er will bring the cakes that Mother made and share them with Xiaoyunduo!"
"Okay, okay, I'll take it for you."
After the little dumpling was dressed, Jiang Xiyue carried her out of the room and to the front door.
She saw the Marquis of Beiding and his two older brothers standing at the door waiting for her.
As soon as her older brothers saw her come out, they quickly came over to her.
"Moon, look at the toy your second brother bought for you, it's just as cute as you!" The second brother handed the doll to her.
"And my little tiger," Jin Qizhi also stuffed the little tiger plush toy into her arms, "Holding the little tiger, little sister, you will grow up to be as healthy and strong as the little tiger."
The little girl hugged two plush toys, her eyes crinkling with laughter: "Thank you, big brother! Thank you, second brother! Yue'er loves them so much!"
Marquis Beiding smiled and patted her head, then handed her a hand warmer: "Let's go, we'll take a carriage to the palace."
The carriage moved slowly forward. Outside the window, fine snow was falling gently on the street. Red lanterns hung at the door of every house. Children ran by with firecrackers, their laughter carrying far.
The little boy was peering out the car window, watching with great interest, when suddenly he spotted a familiar figure: "It's Brother Xie!"
Everyone looked in the direction she pointed and saw a carriage parked by the roadside, with Xie Wenling standing beside it, holding an oil-paper umbrella.
He seemed to have noticed their carriage as well, and nodded slightly as a greeting.
Marquis Beiding had the coachman stop the carriage, lifted the curtain and said with a smile, "Prime Minister Xie, what a coincidence? Are you also going to the palace to pay New Year's respects?"
“Exactly,” Xie Wenling walked over, his gaze falling on the little dumpling in the car, his eyes gentle. “Happy New Year.”
"Happy New Year, Brother Xie!" The little dumpling waved happily, proudly puffing out her little belly. "Xie Yue'er is four years old now!"
Xie Wenling smiled and said, "Yes, time flies. You're four years old now. That's something to celebrate."
The little dumpling happily raised its head.
Marquis Beiding smiled and invited, "Since we're traveling together, why don't you join us, Prime Minister Xie? It would be good to have company."
"Respect is not as good as obedience."

Once inside the palace, the little dumpling couldn't contain himself and started looking around.
Jiang Xiyue smiled and straightened her collar, then took out a pastry box and stuffed it into her hand: "Run slowly, don't fall. You can take this box of pastries and share it with the princess."
"I know, Mommy!" The little dumpling nodded vigorously, hugged the pastries to her chest as if they were treasures, said goodbye to her father and mother, and then took her second brother's hand and skipped away.
The second brother was being dragged along by the little dumpling, constantly asking, "Where is the little princess?"
The little dumpling answered crisply, "Little Cloud is in the Wenhua Hall, the Moon knows!"
The plum blossoms outside the Wenhua Hall are in full bloom, and the snow falling on the petals creates a beautiful contrast of red and white.
The second brother's attention was drawn to the snowman nearby.
The little girl let go of her second brother's hand and ran to the palace gate in one breath. She pushed open the half-closed door and saw the little princess standing there waiting for her.
"Little Cloud!" The little dumpling ran over and pounced on the little princess, holding the pastry box in her arms high. "Look! Mother made pastries for Yue'er, let's eat together!"
The little princess reached out and hugged her, saying, "Little Moon, you've finally arrived! I've been waiting for you for so long!"
Her eyes lit up even more when she saw the pastry box: "It smells so good! Let's eat!"
The little dumpling carefully opened the pastry box. She picked up a piece of osmanthus cake and handed it to the little princess. Then she picked up another piece and stuffed it into her own mouth, her little cheeks puffed out: "The cakes that Mommy makes are the most delicious cakes in the whole world!"
The little princess took a bite, and the sweet taste spread in her mouth. She couldn't help but squint her eyes and exclaim, "Mmm, delicious!"
Two little ones sat on small stools, one piece for each of them.
The door to the hall creaked open, and Qu Zijin walked out of the school.
Qu Zijin saw the two young girls happily eating in the hall and couldn't help but laugh, teasingly saying, "Well, you two are eating pastries here, aren't you going to come a few steps and call me?"
The little dumpling jumped off the chair, picked up a piece, held it high with her little arm, and handed it to Qu Zijin: "Grand Tutor, here you eat! Yue'er has plenty more, let's eat together!"
Qu Zijin accepted it with a smile.
I don't know when, but the snow stopped.
Sunlight streamed through the window, falling warmly on the group.
It felt like going back to last summer.
The little dumpling looked at the little princess, then at Qu Zijin, and then at the half-eaten pastry in her hand, and said happily, "It's just like when we first met!"
She devoured the remaining half of the pastry in one gulp, her cheeks bulging, a happy smile spreading across her face.
That's great!
