52. Doll

52. Doll

The young prince paused, his voice even softer than Jin Lanyue's: "Thank you, Little Moon."

The two little ones stood facing each other, neither of them too shy to look at the other.

Until the little prince suddenly turned around and ran outside, and returned a short while later carrying an exquisite wooden box.

He blushed and handed the box to the little dumpling: "This... is for you."

The little girl curiously opened the box, inside which lay a blonde, blue-eyed doll. Although it had been cleaned very well, fine stitches could still be seen on the hem of its skirt—it was the doll that the little prince had wanted to give her, but had thrown away in a fit of anger.

“This is…” The little dumpling looked up in surprise.

The little prince's ears turned bright red, almost bleeding: "I...I secretly picked it up later."

He lowered his head, his voice growing softer and softer: "I had the nanny wash it clean and sew it back up... I've been wanting to find a chance to give it to you again..."

The little girl carefully picked up the doll and found that it was even more beautiful than she remembered. Its golden hair had been carefully combed and tied with a new ribbon.

"I'm sorry," the young prince suddenly said solemnly, "I will never be mean to you again."

He held up his little finger: "Let's pinky swear and be best friends forever, okay?"

The little dumpling's eyes sparkled, and it immediately held out its little finger: "Pinky promise, hang yourself, for a hundred years, no take-backs!"

The two little ones' pinky fingers were tightly hooked together.

Although they don't know what the future holds or whether they'll still argue, at this moment, the two little ones are truly sincere.

"Right," the little dumpling suddenly tilted its head and asked, "Little Prince, have you chosen your study companion yet?"

The young prince shook his head: "Father said I can choose for myself."

"Then..." The little dumpling's eyes lit up, "How about choosing my second brother? He's incredibly skilled in martial arts and can tell stories too!"

The young prince nodded without hesitation: "Okay!"

The little dumpling had just flashed a bright smile when she suddenly remembered something, and her face fell again: "But Daddy and Mommy said that the little princess and the little prince's study companions cannot be from the same family..."

The young prince patted his chest, looking confident: "Leave it to me! I'll go talk to Father."

"Really?" The little dumpling's hope was rekindled.

"Of course! Let's go now!"

The Imperial Study.

Wei Xiuming was reviewing memorials when he heard a palace servant announce that Wei Jiayou and Jin Lanyue had arrived. Without much thought, he waved them in and then continued to handle government affairs.

But after waiting for quite a while, the two little ones still didn't come in.

He looked up and saw the two little ones peeking out from behind the door. He couldn't help but laugh: "Come on, what are you doing sneaking around like that?"

The young prince mustered his courage and stepped forward: "Father, I wish to choose the second son of the Marquis of Beiding as my study companion."

Wei Xiuming raised an eyebrow: "Oh? Why?"

“Because…” the little prince glanced furtively at the little dumpling, “the little dumpling said her second brother is good at martial arts and can tell stories. And…and…”

He didn't give a clear explanation.

After all, he had never met the little dumpling's second brother.

A smile flashed in Wei Xiuming's eyes as he turned to the little girl, who had become reserved again: "Princess Fukang, tell me, why do you insist on having your second brother as your study companion?"

"Because...because..." Jin Lanyue tilted her little face up, blinking her eyes, her voice soft, "That way, Yue'er can play with Second Brother every day..."
