Lu's father certainly saw Lu Zichen's actions, but he simply couldn't be bothered to pay attention.
“Your Aunt Wen is right, Ziyin. You can bring your girlfriend home to visit sometime.” Mr. Lu took a sip of soup and continued, “Chenchen likes her anyway. You kids can have a barbecue together in the yard.”
The weather is getting cooler, so it's nice to eat something warm. Mr. Lu remembers that young people these days love to eat skewers all the time, and when they invite guests over, the skewers they prepare at home are cleaner and more hygienic than those outside!
Lu Ziyin also felt that he should invite Ding Kemeng to dinner, but he did not expect that his father would suggest that he bring her home.
"I'll consider it." Lu Ziyin didn't agree directly, afraid that Ding Kemeng would refuse.
"Alright then, if you bring someone back someday, just tell your Aunt Wen." Mr. Lu didn't insist.
"Okay, I understand."
The next day happened to be Friday. Because it was drizzling, Ding Kemeng didn't ask Lu Ziyin to pick her up for school.
When she arrived at the classroom, Lu Ziyin had already arrived and was catching up on sleep.
Ding Kemeng slowed her pace and walked carefully, trying to go around to her seat from the back. But Lu Ziyin was too familiar with Ding Kemeng's footsteps; even though she lowered her voice, Lu Ziyin still heard her.
"Good morning, my darling." Lu Ziyin's voice was still a little hoarse, and she was still half asleep, but she still remembered to hold Ding Kemeng's hand and rub it against her face.
Ding Kemeng smiled gently and covered his face with her hands. Her hands were still a little cold, but they were warmed up by Lu Ziyin's face in a short while, and Lu Ziyin also woke up.
"Why are you here so early?" Ding Kemeng sat down next to Lu Ziyin, squeezed his hand, and asked gently.
"You got up early." Lu Ziyin's voice was very low, sounding like he was being coquettish, and he really was being coquettish.
Lu Ziyin nestled her face in Ding Kemeng's hand, kissed it, and asked, "Sweetie, do you have any plans for this Saturday?"
Ding Kemeng's palms were itching, and she couldn't help but want to laugh. Hearing Lu Ziyin's question, she quickly replied, "I don't have any plans. What's wrong? Are you busy this Saturday?"
"Hmm, I'd like to invite you to my house. Would you like to come?" Lu Ziyin blinked, her long eyelashes brushing against Ding Kemeng's palm.
Ding Kemeng couldn't stand it anymore; it was so itchy.
He pulled his hand away, pinched Lu Ziyin's cheek, and said, "Why did you suddenly think of inviting me to your house?"
"It's not sudden, I've wanted to invite you for a long time, but I've never dared to say it," Lu Ziyin thought to herself.
"I'd like to invite you to my house for barbecue, and Zhou'er and the others can come too. I'll also show you Ruan Ruan." Lu Ziyin's hand landed on Ding Kemeng's hand again, squeezing it back and forth.
"Is your house a bit big?" Ding Kemeng asked suddenly, her expression turning serious.
Lu Ziyin asked nervously, "You...don't you want to go?"
"Pfft..." Seeing Lu Ziyin's instantly tense expression, Ding Kemeng couldn't help but say, "I was just teasing you, I'm going!"
Lu Ziyin: "..." The little darling has gone astray, she actually lied to him!
Time flies. On Saturday morning, Ding Kemeng got up early, changed into a pretty dress, did some simple grooming, greeted her parents, and went out.
As soon as I got downstairs, I saw Lu Ziyin's figure.
Ding Kemeng ran over and hugged him. Lu Ziyin smiled and pulled her into his arms. The two left the residential area, got into a car, and headed to the Lu family home.
Wen Lan received the news that Ding Kemeng was coming a day in advance, so she didn't sit idle and had the cook at home prepare the things needed for the barbecue.
Xie Sichen and Tang Zhizhou were very familiar with the Lu family. They arrived at the Lu family early, one playing with the dog and the other playing with Lu Zichen.
Wen Lan didn't have much in common with these young people, so she could only watch them have fun.
Lu Ziyin brought Ding Kemeng home at just ten o'clock.
Laughter from Lu Zichen and barking from Tang Zhizhou could be heard from the courtyard, along with the occasional bark of a dog. It seemed that the group was having a great time.
When Ding Kemeng got out of the car, she was a little surprised to see the Lu family's house. She knew that the Lu family was big, but she did not expect it to be this big. There were even servants pruning flowers and plants in the garden.
The butler, dressed in a tuxedo, approached, smiled at Ding Kemeng, and said, "Miss Ding, welcome."
Ding Kemeng withdrew her gaze, looked at the butler in front of her, smiled, and returned the greeting simply.
Lu Ziyin was worried that Ding Kemeng would feel awkward with the housekeeper around, so he told him to go and rest first. He then took Ding Kemeng's hand and led her on a tour of his home as they walked.
Before long, the two arrived at the barbecue area. Tang Zhizhou and the others were setting up the barbecue grill. The cook wanted to help, but Tang Zhizhou and the others wanted to do it themselves. However, they were clumsy and could not do it well. The cook was very anxious.
Wen Lan was happy to see them do it themselves, so she didn't help.
"Sister Mengmeng!" Lu Zichen saw Lu Ziyin's figure, and then saw Ding Kemeng beside him. He quickly walked over with a smile.
Ding Kemeng still remembers Lu Ziyin's younger brother; he was a very cute boy.
"Little Chenchen." Ding Kemeng bent down and picked up Lu Zichen. She wasn't tall, but she was quite strong!
Lu Ziyin, worried that she might get hurt, quickly said, "Lu Zichen, you're a grown man, get down, don't let your sister get tired!"
Lu Zichen pouted and ignored him.
Ding Kemeng smiled and said, "It's okay, he's very light, I can carry him!" The eight-year-old boy wasn't particularly heavy, and it wasn't difficult for Ding Kemeng to carry him.
"Ziyin, you're back!" Wen Lan saw Lu Ziyin and quickly went over to her. When she saw the girl holding her son, a hint of surprise flashed in Wen Lan's eyes. This little girl was indeed quite pretty!
"Hello, little girl. I'm Aunt Wen from Ziyin. I don't know if Ziyin has told you about me. You can call me Aunt Wen." Wen Lan smiled gently at Ding Kemeng, her attitude very kind.
While in the car, Lu Ziyin had told her about her family situation, so Ding Kemeng wasn't surprised to see Wen Lan. "Hello, Aunt Wen, my name is Ding Kemeng."
"Meng? That name suits you very well!" Wen Lan looked at Ding Kemeng's face. The petite girl spoke softly and gently; she was indeed very cute. "Then can Auntie call you Mengmeng?"
“Yes, you can call me whatever you want, Auntie. I don’t mind.” Ding Kemeng nodded, gently put Lu Zichen down, and replied.
"Sister, let's go watch the barbecue! Brother A-Zhou is so clumsy, he still hasn't set up the barbecue grill!" Lu Zichen suggested, shaking Ding Kemeng's hand.
Ding Kemeng glanced at Lu Ziyin, who indicated she had no objection. She then looked at Wen Lan and said, "Auntie, shall I go with Chenchen to look at the barbecue grill?"
"Okay, go ahead. You young people have a lot to talk about, no need to tell me specifically." Wen Lan made way for Ding Kemeng, and she followed Lu Zichen toward the barbecue grill without hesitation.
