After lunch, the first-year high school students gradually took their seats in the audience.
The athletes had all changed their clothes and were waiting in the lounge for the announcement.
The afternoon mainly consisted of long-distance running competitions, which were longer and much larger in scale than other events.
Each class had about one long-distance runner. The boys' group started the race first, and the first wave consisted of the first five classes. The students in Class 10 had no interest in the races that weren't their own. Sitting in the stands, they didn't even look at the playground, and some of them had even started to doze off!
Lu Ziyin and others are like that.
Ding Kemeng glanced at the somewhat dazzling sunlight, then at Lu Ziyin who was already fast asleep beside her, shook her head helplessly, took off her sun-protective clothing, and gently covered Lu Ziyin with it.
"Shh~ Lin Heng, keep your voices down, Lu Ziyin is asleep," Ding Kemeng whispered to the boys in the front row, speaking earnestly.
Lin Heng and the others were discussing what to eat for dinner when they suddenly heard Ding Kemeng's voice. They were a little stunned until Ding Kemeng pointed at Lu Ziyin and gestured for them to be quiet, at which point they came to their senses.
"Then let's keep our voices down!" Lin Heng nodded, lowered his voice, and the boys next to him also lowered their voices, no longer talking and laughing loudly.
Ding Kemeng smiled at Lin Heng and the others to express her gratitude.
About half an hour later, the first long-distance race ended. The first five classes had a total of ten male runners. Although their spirit of participation was great, their results were quite dismal.
When running a kilometer, six out of ten people actually gave up halfway through!
One by one, the young men, strong and healthy, sat on the track with ferocious expressions, crying and sobbing, refusing to run no matter what!
The students in the same class as these boys felt ashamed when they saw it!
Among the boys crying and refusing to run on the playground, two were actually students from Class 1.
Zhao Qian had a good memory and sharp eyes, and immediately spotted the two boys. Coughing twice, Zhao Qian said with a sigh, "Sigh...look at those two boys on the playground. Young people, they should be growing, but instead of exercising, all they do is study. Look at them, look at them! They can't even run a thousand meters! Sigh...compared to our generation, they're really far behind!"
"That's right!" The male teacher next to Zhao Qian immediately chimed in, his face full of regret. "Such a good boy, turned into this! His head is full of words, he has no athletic ability at all! Without a healthy body, what will he use to study in the future!" This male teacher was the math teacher of Class 9. He was usually ridiculed by Wu Xin in the office, and now that he had the chance, he was determined to make Wu Xin uncomfortable!
Wu Xin glanced at the boy Zhao Qian had called out; the clothes were indeed from her class. Now she could easily tell that Zhao Qian and the others were mocking her. With a cold snort, Wu Xin laughed, "Students should act like students. School is for learning, not for these students to do this and that and cause trouble all day! With such healthy bodies, instead of studying, they're always thinking about those pointless things. How can the school stay in business like this!"
After Wu Xin's retort, Zhao Qian opened his mouth but couldn't say a word for a long time.
What should I do if I suddenly feel like I can't argue with this old hag?
"Hehe... Teacher Wu, don't be so absolute! Although school is a place for learning, Xiushui is not one of those rigid schools. We still pay more attention to developing students' strengths in all aspects, including moral character, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. Sometimes, students don't only have academic studies as their only option! Teacher Wu, don't go down a dead end!"
For some reason, the leader was used to sitting behind several teachers and listening to their gossip. When he saw the teachers arguing, he couldn't help but chime in.
Wu Xin's words had already subtly suppressed Zhao Qian and several other teachers, but now that the leader had chimed in, his words even contained a hint of opposition to Wu Xin.
Upon hearing this, Zhao Qian and several other teachers burst into laughter.
"The director is right. Teacher Wu, don't get too hung up on this. Society isn't what it used to be, and Xiushui isn't a rigid school anymore. Students need to develop in all aspects to be truly excellent!" Zhao Qian smiled brightly at the leader, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw Wu Xin's face was already dark as hell. Zhao Qian was even happier inside.
The other teachers weren't blind either; they knew exactly what to say to please the leader, so naturally they went along with it! No matter how capable Wu Xin was, she was just one person; how could she compare to so many people plus a leader!
He was seething with anger, with nowhere to vent it, and his face only got darker. There was nothing he could do!
After the first long-distance running race ended and the physical education teachers recorded the results, the broadcast began announcing the time for the second round of races.
The next competition was between students from classes six through ten, also known as the "worst classes".
When the students in Class 10 heard that their classmates were about to go on stage, they immediately perked up.
"Does anyone in our class participate in the long-distance race? Who is it again? Does anyone know?"
"I don't know. I just remember our teacher saying that someone from our class participated in the long-distance race, but who was it again?"
"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask? I don't know either!"
In the stands of Class 10, the boys were making a ruckus, wanting to cheer for their classmates who were participating in the competition. However, they discovered a big problem: they had no idea who from their class was actually participating in the competition!
Ding Kemeng couldn't help but laugh as she watched the group of boys ahead of her, anxiously asking each other who was participating in the long-distance race. Lu Ziyin, perhaps awakened by the laughter, opened her eyes and looked around, still somewhat confused.
"You're awake? Are you thirsty? Do you want some water? Yang Xiao has a competition soon, do you want to cheer him on?" Ding Kemeng noticed that the boy next to her had woken up, so she quickly grabbed a bottle of water and handed it to Lu Ziyin.
Lu Ziyin took the water, opened it, and drank a few sips, feeling a bit more awake. Hearing the commotion from the boys in front of her, Lu Ziyin frowned and asked, "What are they doing? Why are they making so much noise?"
"They're asking who the boy from our class is participating in the long-distance race. They want to cheer for Yang Xiao, but they don't even know Yang Xiao's name. It's quite funny!" Ding Kemeng couldn't help but laugh as she thought of the boy who always sat next to Tang Zhizhou and whose presence was extremely weak.
"I just texted our homeroom teacher and found out that Yang Xiao from our class is participating in the long-distance race!" An excited voice suddenly rang out from the crowd, as if someone had asked the homeroom teacher.
"Yang Xiao? Is there anyone in our class named Yang Xiao?"
"I've never heard of her before. What does she look like? Is she really in our class?"
"I don't know, but the teacher said so, so it must be it..."
