Chapter Forty-Eight: Giving It My All (shuhaige.net)

After the four classes in the morning, Ye Nai, unusually, did not come to find Ding Kemeng to have lunch together. Lu Ziyin was happy and thought of taking Ding Kemeng to eat at the newly opened restaurant on the second floor of the cafeteria.

Since the wealthy Lu was treating everyone, Tang Zhizhou and the others certainly wouldn't miss the chance to fleece him, so they immediately surrounded the two of them and headed to the cafeteria.

Seeing so many people asking Lu Ziyin to treat them, Ding Kemeng worried that he didn't have enough money. She secretly whispered to Lu Ziyin, asking him, "Lu Ziyin, do you have enough money? I heard that the food at the new cafeteria window is delicious, but it's not cheap. If you don't have enough money, you can ask me. I haven't spent much of my allowance this week!"

Lu Ziyin thought that Ding Kemeng was sneaking around and pulling him away because she wanted to talk to him about something important, but he didn't expect that she pulled him over because she suspected that he didn't have money to treat people to a meal.

"Do I look poor?" Lu Ziyin asked Ding Kemeng suddenly, her face expressionless.

"Uh..." Ding Kemeng glanced at Lu Ziyin, belatedly realizing that she might have misspoke. "No, it's just that there were too many people, and I was worried that you might not have enough cash on you." Although she had heard that Lu Ziyin was the young master of the Lu family, even if he was rich, he wouldn't have tens of thousands of yuan in pocket money!

Lu Ziyin, whose allowance always exceeded ten thousand yuan: "..."

With a sigh, Lu Ziyin patted Ding Kemeng's head and said helplessly, "I can still afford to treat you to a meal."

Ding Kemeng slapped Lu Ziyin's hand away and pouted, "Whatever, but could you please stop rubbing my head? You'll go bald!" Besides, rubbing someone's head is something only very close friends should do, right? Lu Ziyin is always touching her inappropriately, and she's told him several times but he won't listen. It's really so strange!

Seeing the little girl's complaining expression, Lu Ziyin couldn't help but smile. "Don't worry, you'll still look good even if you're bald!"

Is this the key point?!

Ding Kemeng was so angry with Lu Ziyin that she simply turned her head away and stopped talking to him!

"Why are you two still dawdling? We've almost finished ordering. Hurry up and come over to order!" Tang Zhizhou and the others had already chosen their seats and ordered almost everything, but when they went back to ask someone to pay, the person in charge was nowhere to be found!

"You guys are fast!" Lu Ziyin laughed and scolded Tang Zhizhou when she heard the voice, and then quickly sat down in her seat.

"Ding Kemeng?" Lu Ziyin and the others had just finished eating and were about to leave when Ding Kemeng heard a familiar voice.

Turning her head in confusion, she asked, "Liu, Que?" Ding Kemeng had been away from Class One for almost a month, and she wasn't very familiar with the people in Class One to begin with, let alone remember their names.

Liu Que had just finished lunch when he ran into Ding Kemeng and couldn't help but call out to her.

Lu Ziyin and the others also stopped and stood behind Ding Kemeng, looking at Liu Que, the boy from Class One, with her.

Liu Que met the gazes of Lu Ziyin and the others behind Ding Kemeng, and felt a little nervous. He swallowed hard and asked, "Are you confident about the midterm exam?"

"Yes." Ding Kemeng wasn't actually very familiar with Liu Que. She hadn't spoken much to him in their previous class. Although she was curious why he was asking her this question, she answered out of politeness.

"That's good." Liu Que glanced at Lu Ziyin behind Ding Kemeng again and continued, "Class One would still welcome you back." Class Ten was full of underachievers, and Liu Que really couldn't understand why Ding Kemeng had agreed to go to Class Ten in the first place.

"Um, thank you." Ding Kemeng didn't know how to reply to Liu Que, so she could only say thank you awkwardly.

After Liu Que finished welcoming Ding Kemeng, Lu Ziyin's eyes seemed to materialize, as if she wanted to poke a hole through Liu Que!

Lu Ziyin really hated this group of people in Class 1. They always popped up from various corners to remind him that Mengbao and he were not from the same world. Even if he chased one away, another would come. It was so annoying!

"Are you done talking?" Lu Ziyin asked coldly, her disgusted gaze sweeping over Liu Que without any attempt to conceal it.

"Huh?" Liu Que couldn't help but shudder when he met Lu Ziyin's frightening gaze.

"Are you done talking?"

"I'm done talking." Liu Que didn't understand what Lu Ziyin meant, and just answered him subconsciously.

Lu Ziyin patted Ding Kemeng on the shoulder, her voice unusually urging: "Let's go, little one. It's getting late, let's go back."

"Okay." Ding Kemeng also felt awkward talking to Liu Que, someone she wasn't very familiar with. Now that Lu Ziyin was urging her, it gave her an excuse to leave.

"Liu Que, we're leaving now. Goodbye."

"Oh, okay." Liu Que watched Ding Kemeng, Lu Ziyin, and the others leave together, and it took him a long time to come back to his senses.

Back in Class 1, Ding Kemeng, despite her good grades and pretty looks, didn't seem very popular. The boys, out of pride, secretly admired her, but few actually spoke to her. The girls, even more so, were jealous of her excellence, and groups of them would ostracize her.

The students in her class knew that Ding Kemeng was being ostracized. They thought she would be even more ostracized after going to the infamous Class 10, but to their surprise, the young master of the Lu family was the first person to show her goodwill!

As a result, everyone in Class 10 accepted her existence!

Liu Que suddenly became unsure whether what he had just said was right or wrong. Was it really a good thing to let Ding Kemeng return to the cold and indifferent Class 1?

On the way back, neither Lu Ziyin nor Ding Kemeng spoke.

Tang Zhizhou and his companions followed behind the two at a leisurely pace, unusually refraining from their usual banter and slyness.
