Chapter Ninety-Five: Even Gentleness Can Get Angry

"I said it, so what? What can you do to me?!" One of the boys, unable to contain his anger, took a step forward and roared.

With so many people around, how could he be afraid of a little girl!

Seeing that someone had stepped forward, the others suddenly gained courage and shouted from the crowd, "Yeah, can you still hit us?"

"We're right, Ding Kemeng came in second, the first place went to someone else, so what!"

"Besides studying, what else can Ding Kemeng do? She's just a bookworm!"

"So what if you were first in the grade before? Everyone's been first a few times, what's with the attitude!"

...

Voices rose and fell from the crowd, boys and girls exchanging increasingly harsh words. Ye Nai was furious, and immediately grabbed the first boy by the collar, ready to strike.

"I'll show you!" Ye Nai raised her fist, about to strike the boy's face.

Seeing this, Ding Kemeng panicked and quickly grabbed Ye Nai: "No, Nai Nai, don't hit people!" It's their business to talk nonsense, but if Ye Nai makes the first move, then they will be the ones in the wrong!

Seeing Ye Nai being pulled away, the boy became even more arrogant: "Come on, hit me!"

"you!"

Ding Kemeng clung tightly to Ye Nai's hand, crying, "Nai Nai!"

"Mengbao, let me go! I'm going to teach him a lesson today!" Ye Nai had completely lost her temper and was filled with rage.

"Come on, I'm not afraid of you! I told you, Ding Kemeng is a bookworm. What else can she do besides seducing boys? Maybe she got her grades by copying other people's work!" The boy's eyes were slightly red, and the smile on his face was becoming distorted.

"I..." The boy was about to provoke Ye Nai again, but before he could finish speaking, he was kicked away.

The boy was kicked hard in the waist, and like a kite with a broken string, he crashed into the bulletin board behind him with a loud "thud!" A voice, tinged with anger, followed: "What did you say? Say it again!"

Everyone was startled by the sudden scene before them and immediately turned to look at the newcomer.

It's Lu Ziyin!

Everyone gasped inwardly and took a step back.

When Lin Changmao saw Lu Ziyin smile, he immediately began to complain: "Brother Lu, let me tell you, it was this group of people who just slandered Sister Meng here and insulted her, saying some really nasty things!"

Those who had just verbally abused Ding Kemeng were stunned. How could this big, dark-skinned guy be so good at tattling?

The boy, who had been kicked to the ground, was in excruciating pain. Lu Ziyin's strength was truly immense. He coughed twice and tried to get up. But Lu Ziyin gave him no chance whatsoever, stepping on his back with one foot. Although she hadn't used much force, the boy simply couldn't get up!

Lu Ziyin bent down, looked at the boy at his feet, and asked, "Say what you just said again, say it!" He was only a little late, and he saw this group of people bullying the cute baby. Did they think he, Lu Ziyin, was dead?

Lu Ziyin was genuinely angry.

Ding Kemeng was also stunned by the scene before her. Lu Ziyin had moved too fast, and before she could even react, the boy had fallen down. Looking at the boy, who was now under Lu Ziyin's foot, tears streaming down his face, apologizing repeatedly, Ding Kemeng's expression was somewhat complicated.

Lu Ziyin ignored the apologizing boy, looked up at the people around her, and said in a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft, "You guys say it, if you have the guts, say what you just said again in front of me. You're not convinced, aren't you? I'll give you a chance, say it!"

The noisy crowd fell silent instantly. They were joking; how could they dare to do that to Lu Ziyin in this state!

The crowd, which had been so arrogant just moments before, fell silent the moment they met Lu Ziyin. Ye Nai sneered, "A bunch of bullies who prey on the weak!"

Ding Kemeng's expression darkened. She looked at Lu Ziyin beside her, stepped forward, took his hand, and pulled him aside. Meeting his angry yet confused gaze, she smiled reassuringly, signaling him not to speak, and turned to look at the crowd.

"I don't care how you slandered me just now, but now that someone has paid the price for their inappropriate words and actions, I won't hold it against you anymore. I don't need your apologies either, since you were coerced into apologizing, and you probably still hate me deep down, maybe even more so than before. It's a fact that I dropped in rank this time, and I have no objection to your discussion, but even if I dropped in rank, I'm still second in the grade, aren't I! And my total score and average score are still higher than everyone here, even much higher!"

“Mengbao…” Ye Nai looked at Ding Kemeng with worry in her eyes.

Ding Kemeng smiled indifferently, but when she turned to look at the people around her, her eyes were full of sarcasm and disdain: "I don't understand, you guys who didn't even make it into the top 100 of the grade, where do you get the nerve to mock me, who's second in the grade! Is it because of your looks? If so, then I really can't compare to you. After all, there are so many of you, and any one of you has skin as thick as a corner of a city wall. I'm truly ashamed of myself!"

"Pfft..." Lin Changmao couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Normally, I don't realize it. Mengjie is petite and always acts gentle and kind to everyone, but once she gets angry, her words can be incredibly venomous!

Ding Kemeng's words, though sarcastic, were indeed true; none of them had actually made it into the top 100 of their grade.

With their own terrible results, how dare they mock Ding Kemeng!

A smile appeared in Lu Ziyin's eyes. He had almost forgotten that although his adorable child was gentle, she could bite if she was really provoked!

"Who...who knows if you got second place in the grade by cheating!" one boy retorted angrily, his face flushed.

Lu Ziyin's cold gaze immediately fell upon him, and the boy, meeting her sinister gaze, broke out in a cold sweat.

Ding Kemeng tugged at Lu Ziyin's hand, looked at the boy, and laughed, "Do you have any evidence? Making up stories without evidence is slander! You can't be so hypocritical. You say I plagiarized, then I'll say that your score, which isn't even half of mine, was also obtained through plagiarism!"

"You're talking nonsense!" the boy exclaimed in a huff.

"If I'm talking nonsense, then what you just said about me isn't nonsense either!" Ding Kemeng stopped laughing. "I've never seen anyone as shameless as you before!"

"I...I..." The boy was speechless because Ding Kemeng had him cornered. He wanted to argue, but he couldn't find a reason to refute her.

"And you all think that you can twist the truth with just a few words and get the second place in the grade?" Ding Kemeng looked at the others and questioned them.

The crowd did not respond, and some even avoided Ding Kemeng's gaze. Gossiping behind people's backs was wrong of them, and now they had no grounds to argue.
