Chapter Sixteen: Don't Fight

"I understand, I'll be right down." Lu Ziyin got off the bed, opened the wardrobe, and prepared to change her clothes, but Little Radish Head still hadn't left.

"Lu Zichen, is there anything else?"

Perhaps because his tone wasn't very gentle, the little boy at the door was startled by the voice and his voice became even softer: "Brother, when is Brother Achen coming to our house to play? I miss him a little."

"I don't know." Lu Ziyin put on her shirt, glanced at Lu Zichen, and said, "Go downstairs, I need to change my pants."

Lu Zichen was somewhat afraid of his older brother, Lu Ziyin, especially when Lu Ziyin looked at him expressionlessly, Lu Zichen would always tremble involuntarily.

"Understood, brother." Not daring to disobey Lu Ziyin, Lu Zichen nodded, carefully closed the door, and jogged downstairs.

Lu Ziyin watched the door close, then quickly looked away. She casually rummaged through the closet, grabbed a pair of casual shorts, put them on, and prepared to go downstairs for dinner.

However, after taking only two steps, Lu Ziyin seemed to have forgotten something and quickly turned back, found her phone on the bed, tapped it a couple of times, and then put it back.

Meanwhile, Xie Sichen's phone suddenly rang while he was having dinner at Tang Zhizhou's house. Xie Sichen opened his phone, and Tang Zhizhou leaned over to take a look.

"Come visit me sometime, Xiao Chen misses you." Tang Zhizhou suddenly laughed when he saw that the sender was Lu Ziyin: "Lu Ziyin usually looks so fierce, his younger brother would never have imagined that his older brother actually likes him so much!"

Xie Sichen typed an affirmative reply in the reply box, clicked send, and smiled, saying, "Xiao Chen is very cute. So what if Lu Ziyin likes her younger brother?"

"That's true." Tang Zhizhou nodded in agreement: "Sigh... Not everyone's siblings are like mine! Mine is a real menace!"

Thinking of the eldest daughter of the Tang family, Xie Sichen unusually did not refute Tang Zhizhou's remarks, after all, that girl really loved to cause trouble.

The Lu family's restaurant.

Mr. Lu glanced at Lu Ziyin sitting to his left, sighed helplessly, and said, "Tomorrow is Saturday, right? Remember to go to the hospital to see your mother."

Lu Ziyin ate her meal quietly without saying a word.

Seeing the awkward atmosphere at the dinner table, Wen Lan, who was sitting to the side, quickly smiled and said, "How about Ziyin and I go to the hospital together tomorrow? I'm fine."

"What are you doing? This is none of your business!" Lu Ziyin put down her spoon, looked up, and spoke coldly.

"What do you mean it has nothing to do with you? Your Aunt Wen is also a member of this family, so why can't she go!" Father Lu was so angry with Lu Ziyin that his tone became harsh.

"Then what about my mom? Isn't she part of this family? And me? Am I not part of this family either?" Lu Ziyin's emotions became increasingly uncontrollable as she thought of her mother in the hospital.

"Smack!"

"Husband!" Wen Lan looked at Lu Ziyin's red face and tears immediately streamed down her face. "Just talk, why did you hit the child!" She had spoken without thinking and stepped on the child's sore spot. If you wanted to get angry, take it out on her. What kind of behavior is it to take it out on the child!

"It's none of your business!" Lu Ziyin's eyes reddened as he forcefully pushed Wen Lan away, sweeping the tableware off the table and shattering it into pieces. The shards of porcelain scattered on the floor made a jarring clanging sound, startling Lu Zichen, who was sitting opposite him, who immediately burst into tears.

"Brother... Brother, don't be angry, don't hit Mom! Dad... Dad, don't hit brother, no... don't fight!"

Lu Zichen cried. Wen Lan, ignoring her own pain, rushed forward and hugged her child, whispering comforting words, "Chenchen, be good, be good~ Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. Your brother and father weren't fighting, they were just talking. Your brother didn't mean to, he didn't hit Mommy, Chenchen, don't be afraid..."

Lu Zichen's crying brought Lu Ziyin back to her senses. Looking at the mother and son embracing each other, Lu Ziyin suddenly realized what she had just done. Her clenched fists loosened and relaxed, and Lu Ziyin said stiffly, "I'm sorry, I lost my temper."

Hearing Lu Ziyin's apology from his mother's arms, Lu Zichen quickly broke free from his mother's embrace. His face, red from crying, forced a smile as he said, "Chenchen forgives brother. Brother didn't mean it!"

Looking at Lu Zichen's innocent smiling face, Lu Ziyin tried to force a smile, but couldn't manage it. She could only pat Lu Zichen's head, say nothing more, turn around, walk past her father, and quickly go upstairs.

It wasn't until she returned to her bedroom that Lu Ziyin seemed to come alive again. Her body, which had just taken a shower, was already soaked with sweat again. Lu Ziyin was panting heavily. She hurriedly opened the bedside table, rummaged through it, took out a small white medicine bottle, poured out a pill, and swallowed it without drinking any water.

Lu Ziyin slumped onto the edge of the bed, closed her eyes, and emptied her mind. It took her a long time to finally calm down.

Downstairs in the restaurant, the cleaning lady was carefully cleaning up the broken tableware. Mr. Lu sat on the sofa without saying a word.

After comforting Lu Zichen, Wen Lan came out and saw this scene.

"Husband, you shouldn't have hit Ziyin..."

Mr. Lu looked up at his wife and smiled helplessly: "I really don't know who's sick between him and me."

Wen Lan walked behind Lu's father, rubbed his temples, and said gently, "You're too harsh on Ziyin. This child has cried more than other children since he was little. You are his father. Sometimes being a little more lenient will be good for both of you."

“I spend too little time with this child. Now that he's older, sometimes when we sit together, I don't know how to communicate. We're like strangers instead of father and son. It's ridiculous!”

“Ziyin is actually a very gentle child. Although he seems to dislike me on the surface, he has never really hurt me in the years since we got married. In fact, after our Chenchen was born, the first person he called out to was him, his older brother.” Wen Lan felt a surge of joy as she thought about Lu Zichen’s affection for Lu Ziyin.

"Chenchen is such a sensible child. In our family, he's probably the only one with the best relationship." Thinking of little Chenchen, a gentle light slowly appeared in Mr. Lu's eyes.

"So, honey, you need to be more understanding of Ziyin. He really is a good boy!"

"Alright, alright, I know. You don't even care this much about your own child, but you're incredibly concerned about that brat!" Mr. Lu removed Wen Lan's hand and couldn't help but laugh and scold.

Seeing Lu's father's attitude, Wen Lan knew he hadn't taken her words to heart, and she became a little anxious. "How can they be the same? Chenchen has the love of his father and mother, he lacks nothing, but Ziyin is different. I truly love this child from the bottom of my heart. Since I married you, of course I am his mother! No matter how much he hates me, I can't just ignore him like this!"
