Chapter Twenty: There are so many people with the surname Lu

For a whole week, Lu Ziyin consistently delivered things to Tang Meng without fail, which troubled Ding Kemeng for a week as well.

Every time, for some reason, whenever Lu Ziyin brings something to Tang Meng, Tang Meng always comes up to her and asks if she wants it. She's not a beggar, and her family isn't short of money. Does she really need Tang Meng's charity that much?

Ding Kemeng was always furious. If she refused Tang Meng's gifts, the girls in the class would say she was pretending. If she didn't refuse, they would think she was faking it all along!

Ding Kemeng was also getting a little annoyed by this matter...

It was another new school week, and Ding Kemeng felt a mix of emotions as she watched the rain outside intensify. After lingering at home for a long time, she finally went out, holding an umbrella, and walked slowly down the street.

Ding Kemeng suddenly felt like laughing. This was the first time she had ever hated going to school so much. She hadn't felt this way since elementary school, and experiencing it again after so long was rather novel...

The Lu family.

After breakfast, Lu Ziyin looked at the rain outside and, on a rare whim, decided not to take the bus to school today, but to walk there with an umbrella.

One of the routes to school passes by an artificial lake. Although the scenery isn't great, it's less crowded, so Lu Ziyin specifically chose this route. Holding an umbrella, she walked along the cobblestone path beside the artificial lake, listening to the sound of raindrops falling on the umbrella. Suddenly, Lu Ziyin couldn't help but laugh.

He's so stupid!

"Woof, woof, woof...woof—woof!" Amidst the sound of rain, a series of barks of varying depths drifted over. Lu Ziyin frowned, stopped in her tracks, and looked to her side. Under the willow trees by the artificial lake, a camel-colored shoebox stood out conspicuously.

As if sensing human gaze, several more barks came from inside the box.

Lu Ziyin hesitated. He had always disliked dogs and cats since he was a child. Although he didn't know why, he was afraid to touch these small animals easily.

He wasn't afraid the small animals would hurt him, but rather that they would hurt themselves because they were afraid of him.

It's raining outside, and the rain seems to be getting heavier. The dog's barking clearly indicates it's a puppy. If he doesn't do anything, what if the dog...

Lu Ziyin struggled for a long time, but finally couldn't resist and went forward.

Sure enough, there was a puppy in the shoebox, a small, yellow-haired dog. It was soaked to the bone from the rain, but it still bared its teeth and growled at him when it saw him.

Lu Ziyin smiled, picked up the shoebox, and looked around, but couldn't see any place to take shelter from the rain. She finally found a large tree with relatively lush foliage and moved the shoebox there. After examining the tree's branches, she felt a little uneasy and decided to leave her umbrella there.

Without an umbrella, and with the rain showing no signs of letting up, Lu Ziyin sighed, took off her school uniform jacket, mustered her strength, and dashed into the rain, running quickly towards the school.

Ding Kemeng also discovered this quiet road to school by chance. She originally planned to walk to school quietly by herself, but she did not expect to encounter a student from the same school who threw his umbrella under a tree.

Ding Kemeng was curious as to why the boy had lost his umbrella. She tightened her backpack and slowly walked towards the big tree. Only when she got closer did she finally hear the puppy whimpering.

Ding Kemeng quickly moved the large black umbrella aside and looked at the puppy in the shoebox. It was tiny, almost completely soaked. Despite being abandoned by humans, it happily stuck out its tongue and eagerly licked Ding Kemeng's hand when it saw her.

Ding Kemeng felt heartbroken, but it was her school time and she couldn't bring the puppy with her. However, she seemed to remember that she still had a leftover sausage from yesterday in her schoolbag. If she still had it, she could feed it to the puppy!

Thinking of this, Ding Kemeng quickly took off her schoolbag, unzipped it, and began rummaging through it.

"Found it!" After rummaging around for a while, Ding Kemeng finally found the sausage in the innermost compartment of her schoolbag. She tore open the packaging, cut the sausage into small pieces, wrapped them in a tissue, and put them in the shoebox. Patting the puppy's head, Ding Kemeng said gently, "Eat up, eat your fill. If you're still here after school, I'll try to find you a good home so you can live a happy life, okay?"

The puppy couldn't understand what the human in front of it was saying, but it could clearly feel the kindness the person was showing it. It nudged Ding Kemeng's hand with its head and then lowered its head to start eating the sausage.

Ding Kemeng rubbed the dog's head again, smiled, and reached out to pick up the large black umbrella she had just placed aside, preparing to cover the puppy again.

But then, a sign hanging on the handle of the large black umbrella unexpectedly caught Ding Kemeng's eye. Ding Kemeng picked up the small wooden sign, glanced at it, and saw that it only had one character engraved on it: Lu.

So the owner of this big black umbrella is surnamed Lu?

This surname is the same as the school bully who was pursuing Tang Meng. There are quite a few people with the surname Lu these days...

After settling the puppy in, Ding Kemeng stopped dawdling; she was almost late!

Although she had run the whole way, she still managed to dawdle and was ultimately late. And today happened to be Monday, so the homeroom teacher would be checking on the class during morning self-study. Unfortunately, Ding Kemeng was caught.

"Ding Kemeng, what's wrong with you! It's Monday, how dare you be late? Do you even respect your teachers or your studies? This is outrageous!" Wu Xin arrived at the classroom early this morning to supervise the morning self-study session. Everyone was there except for Ding Kemeng!

This kind of learning attitude is the first time she has seen it in a class in all her years of teaching!

She's so angry!

"Ding Kemeng, do you have anything else to say?" Wu Xin looked at Ding Kemeng in front of her and decided to give her one last chance.

However, Ding Kemeng did not get her wish.

"Teacher, I'm late, please punish me!" Ding Kemeng said, neither humble nor arrogant, looking completely apologetic. But Wu Xin was still infuriated by Ding Kemeng's appearance.

"You, you're unrepentant! Go stand outside until the end of get out of class and reflect on your actions!" This is truly outrageous! She had previously thought Ding Kemeng was a promising talent with good grades, but now it seems she's just a stubborn rock, and there's probably not much hope for her in the future!

From childhood to adulthood, Ding Kemeng had never made a single mistake. In the eyes of her teachers, she had always been a well-behaved and good student. But today, Ding Kemeng, the good student, suddenly felt that being punished by standing in the corner occasionally wasn't so unacceptable after all...
