Chapter Fifty-Three: Ambition

"They have something to do." Lu Ziyin blinked, trying her best to look pitiful.

Mr. Ding glanced at Lu Ziyin again, thought about it, and agreed. These wealthy families and big bosses are probably very busy with work; it's normal that they don't have time to attend their children's parent-teacher meetings.

"Is everyone here? Let me introduce myself first. I am the homeroom teacher of Class 10. My surname is Zhao and my name is Zhao Qian. You parents should recognize me." Zhao Qian walked into the classroom, looked around, and saw that the classroom was almost full. He figured all the parents had arrived, so he didn't dawdle and got straight to today's topic.

The first issue was the students' grades. Zhao Qian had already sent messages to all the parents about the children's rankings and scores well in advance.

He even printed out report cards and distributed them to each student so they could show them to their parents.

When Ding Kemeng heard Zhao Qian ask her to show her report card to her parents, she quickly found her test paper and report card in her desk drawer and handed them to her father.

Mr. Ding glanced at the report card. He first saw that his daughter was ranked first, and then he looked at her final grade ranking, which was also first. He breathed a sigh of relief.

As for the test paper, at his age, he had long forgotten what he had learned and couldn't understand it at all, so he simply didn't take it.

"Mengmeng did very well on the test this time. Your mother will be very happy to see your results." Mr. Ding patted Ding Kemeng's head, his eyes crinkling with laughter.

craning his neck, Mr. Ding looked at Lu Ziyin's desk, where there was also a report card. Mr. Ding asked curiously, "Little Lu, how did you do on the exam this time? What was your ranking? Did you improve compared to last time?"

For parents, besides knowing their own child's grades, they will definitely want to see other children's grades whenever they have the chance!

This was the first time in Lu Ziyin's life that another elder had asked her about her grades, and this elder was none other than the baby's father!

Lu Ziyin was somewhat flustered...

Subconsciously covering the report card on the table with his arm, Lu Ziyin smiled awkwardly, "Uncle, my grades aren't very good, they can't compare to your daughter's." Lu Ziyin knew his own limitations; his total score probably didn't even match Ding Kemeng's score in one subject!

"Oh, oh, I see..." Seeing that Lu Ziyin's expression showed that there was nothing he didn't understand, Mr. Ding smiled knowingly and didn't press the matter further.

Meanwhile, Tang Zhizhou at the next table to Lu Ziyin felt as if every second was an eternity.

Tang's father flipped through Tang Zhizhou's test papers, looking at each one. Apart from a few red checkmarks, the rest were all red crosses, which were conspicuous and glaring!

"Thirty-six in Chinese, twelve in Math, twenty-one in English..." Tang's father was amazed that he could still calmly read out the scores without turning around and slapping Tang Zhizhou to death. He really cared about the father-son relationship between him and Tang Zhizhou!

If Tang Zhizhou weren't his own son, he would have kicked that brat all the way to the Pacific Ocean long ago!

"Look at you, can't you improve a little? You got over 20 points in math last time, how come you dropped again this time!" He didn't expect his son to be super smart, but couldn't he at least try to improve a little? Every time he took a test, even just a tiny bit of progress, even just one or two points would be great!

"Hehe, Dad, last time is last time! Actually, I took the test seriously this time too, but the test was obviously much harder than last time. I can get such a good score, which is really good. I am still very ambitious!" Tang Zhizhou was not ashamed, but proud, and looked at his father with a smile, defending himself.

He genuinely didn't think he did poorly on the exams; the total score across all the subjects was quite high!

Tang's father flipped through the test papers in his hand and quickly turned to the physics test paper. In the score column, the bright red zero was particularly eye-catching. Next to it, there was a line of small words written in red pen: Tang Zhizhou is suspected of cheating. His score is invalid!

Tang's father couldn't take it anymore and turned around to slap Tang Zhizhou on the head.

"You mean being ambitious means cheating on exams, is that it?!" Tang's father slapped the test paper onto Tang Zhizhou's face, poking Tang Zhizhou's forehead with his finger in exasperation, and said angrily, "Look at you, you cheated, fine, but at least be smart! Copying English or Chinese is one thing, but you copied a physics problem, a big physics problem at that! Even if I weren't your teacher, I could tell you copied it!"

Mr. Tang genuinely suspected his son had mental issues. He used to think his son was just playful and didn't like studying, which was why his grades were poor. Now, he suddenly realized he'd been overthinking things; his son might actually be mentally challenged!

"Ouch, ouch, ouch!" Tang Zhizhou cried out softly, rubbing his head. He took the physics test paper off his face, looked at the physics teacher's comments, and pouted, "If I don't copy this, I won't know how to answer a single question! Besides, the teacher said that no matter if I know the answer or not, I have to fill in the test paper. I'm just trying to raise the class average and contribute to the class!"

"So you're cheating, huh!" Tang's father rolled his eyes at his son, not wanting to talk to him. He continued flipping through the test paper, his eyes inadvertently landing on a Chinese translation question—a classical Chinese translation question.

Title: A simple-minded man, carrying cloth to trade for silk. He came not to trade for silk, but to plot against me.

His son's translation was: A rogue came huffing and puffing, carrying a rag, trying to trade it for my silk. But this bandit not only wanted the silk, he also wanted to rob me.

Let's just leave it at that translation. His precious son even added a note below the translation: "It's impossible for you to take me away. I can take on two of you by myself!"

Tang's father quickly took a deep breath, afraid that his son might accidentally die on the spot!

"You're amazing, you really are amazing!" Tang's father was speechless. This wasn't his son, this was his ancestor!

"Hehe..." Tang Zhizhou scratched his head and revealed a fawning smile.

The parents' meeting for Class 10 was still in progress, but Lu Ziyin's father, who had promised to attend, was sitting in the principal's office.

"Big brother, I really didn't lie to you, Ziyin has been quite well-behaved lately." Lu Tian poured a cup of tea for his father, who was sitting on the sofa, and sat down with a helpless expression.

Mr. Lu didn't drink tea; instead, he was looking through the report card in his hand, searching for his son's name in Class 10.

Looking down, the first place was a girl named Ding Kemeng. Mr. Lu glanced at her briefly and thought that she must be a girl, and her grades were surprisingly good.

Except for losing a few points in Chinese, I almost got full marks in all other subjects.

Surprised as he was, Mr. Lu didn't dwell on Ding Kemeng's grades for long. He looked down again and saw that the last place was Tang's kid, and his son was not much different from that kid, second to last!

They're really in the same boat, both of them are terrible at their studies!

"With such a low score, is that thing around your neck really just for decoration?!" Mr. Lu slammed his fist on the table in anger after glancing at Lu Ziyin's grades.

How could he have given birth to such an idiot son!
