Having promised to tutor Lu Ziyin, Ding Kemeng wasn't joking. After returning home, she prepared a few simple test papers for Lu Ziyin based on his current level, intending to bring them to school for him to try the next day.
The exam papers were being prepared until 11 p.m. before Ding Kemeng finally put down her pen and left her desk.
Before going to bed, Ding Kemeng made a point of checking the notepad under her pillow, ticking off the first entry, then adding a few more. She also set her phone alarm forward by half an hour before finally putting down the notepad and going to sleep.
The next morning, Ding Kemeng's alarm clock rang. She didn't stay in bed. She immediately sat up, quickly got out of bed, put on her slippers, and washed up.
After tidying up, Ding Kemeng went downstairs to the kitchen. Ding's mother usually only started preparing breakfast after Ding Kemeng got up. She had no idea that her daughter was up so early and was still sleeping in the bedroom.
Ding Kemeng leisurely walked into the kitchen, opened her phone, and flipped through the recipes she had found yesterday to start preparing breakfast. She had learned a little bit from her mother when she used to make pastries, but she rarely went into the kitchen otherwise. If there were a ranking of the Ding family's cooking skills, her father's would be far superior to hers!
Ding Kemeng was well aware of her own cooking skills. She knew she couldn't make anything delicious for breakfast, so she only planned to make some cookies as snacks for Lu Ziyin to eat during her free time.
The oven has two layers, so Ding Kemeng made cookies for both layers at once. If she was going to take the cookies to school, she would definitely want to bring some for Nana, but the others were also her friends, so Ding Kemeng decided to prepare some for everyone so as not to be biased.
Ding Kemeng found a small cloth bag in the cupboard and picked out many of the less-than-ideal-shaped cookies from the baked cookies. She then evenly packed all the nicer ones into the bag. Except for the ones for Lu Ziyin, she specially added some dried nuts and spread some jam on the cookies before packing them into a small box.
After Ding Kemeng finished doing these things, Ding's mother came out of the bedroom.
As she yawned, Ding's mother walked toward the kitchen, expecting no one to be there, but to her surprise, she saw her daughter.
"Honey, what are you doing? Why are you in the kitchen?"
Ding Kemeng brought the remaining, still-decent cookies to the table and smiled, "Mom, I made some cookies to take to my classmates. These are the leftovers, so you and Dad can have them."
Looking at the cookies on the table, Ding's mother raised an eyebrow and said, "You gave all the nice ones to your classmates, and then only gave us the rest of the not-so-pretty cookies?"
"Mom, your cookies are the best. You definitely wouldn't like the ones I make..." Ding Kemeng walked up, hugged her mother, and started to act coquettishly.
Ding's mother wasn't really bothered. After hugging and cuddling with her daughter for a while, she laughed, "You always know how to be cheeky with your mother. Okay, go and put away these cookies. Mom will make you breakfast. After you eat, it's time for school." "Okay, thank you, Mom!"
On the way to school, they ran into Ye Rong, who was taking Ye Nai to school. Ye Nai certainly wouldn't let Ding Kemeng take the car to school again, so she pulled her into Ye Rong's car with her.
Ding Kemeng gave the cookies to Ye Nai in the car. Ye Nai thought they were made by Ding's mother and accepted them happily without saying anything.
Ye Rong drove very fast, and the two arrived at the school in no time.
After parking the car, Ye Rong wanted to open the car door for Ye Nai, but Ye Nai had already opened the door herself. Ye Rong's hand rested on the car door, and she felt a little embarrassed.
Ding Kemeng didn't know what had happened between the two, but she didn't ask any further questions.
Ye Rong helped Ye Nai put her schoolbag on her back, and smiled politely again: "Miss, I'll pick you up again tonight. I'll be going now. Have a good day at school."
Ye Nai ignored Ye Rong, snorted coldly, and pulled Ding Kemeng into the school gate without looking back.
Ding Kemeng was pulled along by Ye Nai for several steps. She had no choice but to wave goodbye to Ye Rong.
Ye Rong smiled and replied. Only after watching the two disappear completely did a hint of disappointment flash in Ye Rong's eyes, but it quickly disappeared and was replaced by an even gentler smile as she looked at the boy standing not far behind her.
Tang Zhizhou rarely rode in the butler's car to school. He arrived at the school only one minute later than Ye Nai and the others. He had just gotten out of the car when he saw Ye Nai.
She was brought there by a handsome adult man. The man was very gentle and even carried Ye Nai's backpack. Ding Kemeng was also in the car. The three of them seemed to know each other. Tang Zhizhou wanted to go up and say hello, but after seeing the man, for some reason, he suddenly couldn't move his feet.
Ye Rong recognized the boy in front of him, who was wearing the same school uniform as his young lady—Tang Zhizhou, the young master of the Tang family. He was also his young lady's fiancé.
The master arranged for the young lady to study in Xiushui, probably for the sake of this young master Tang, so that they could develop feelings for each other in advance, in preparation for the announcement of their engagement later.
Thinking of this, Ye Rong's smile deepened. She bowed slightly to Tang Zhizhou from afar before returning to her car, which drove away shortly afterward.
Tang Zhizhou found Ye Rong's smile very strange. Although the man looked very proper and polite, he always felt that his smile was cold, so cold that it made him feel inexplicably irritated!
"Tang Zhizhou, what are you standing there for?"
Should I be a door god?
When Lin Changmao and Kong Qingfeng arrived at the school gate, they saw Tang Zhizhou standing there dumbfounded with an "idiot" look on his face. The security guard had been staring at him for a long time, and Lin Changmao seriously suspected that the security guard wanted to come out and beat him up!
Lin Changmao's voice came from above. Tang Zhizhou snapped back to reality, the confusion in his eyes dissipating. He slowly turned around, his face mysterious and inscrutable, and said, "Da Mao, I—I'm contemplating the mysteries of life!"
Lin Changmao was disgusted by Tang Zhizhou and slapped him, saying disdainfully, "What nonsense about contemplating life? With your brain, I think you're more like having a fit. Hurry up and go to the classroom, or the security guard will come out and have a life-discussion with you!"
Seeing Lin Changmao make a move, Kong Qingfeng quickly said, "Don't, don't hit people, Mao, Mao."
"Hehe..." Tang Zhizhou chuckled, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and entered the school gate.
Of course, he was scrutinized by the security guards when he went in.
When Lin Changmao and the others arrived at the classroom, not all the students from Class 10 had arrived yet, including Lu Ziyin.
Ding Kemeng had just distributed cookies to Xie Sichen and the others when she saw Lin Changmao and the others. She immediately greeted them and gave them the cookies as well.
