Chapter 28: A Group of People Who Eat for Free
Jiang Yuan paused and slowly turned his head.
Yin Dong's gaze fixed on her face showed that this question was directed at her.
She had just been in the Finance Department for a week and was in charge of the cost accounting. She had never seen this report before.
"I'm sorry, I didn't make the report."
She turned her head and looked in the direction of the financial director.
Yang Ming's face paled, and he asked tremblingly, "Boss Yin, is there any problem with the report?"
Yin Dong's gaze shifted from Jiang Yuan's face to Yang Ming's. "Director Yang, I remember you studied finance. You've been in this position for too long. It seems you need a retraining."
He said as he threw the documents in his hand onto the table.
The atmosphere in the conference room suddenly fell into an ice cellar.
More than a dozen executives all frowned, staring at the report in their hands, racking their brains to think about where the mistake had gone.
Yang Ming was so scared that he stood up from his seat.
The financial director had just given him the report last night. He only glanced over it and directly used the data in it to do financial analysis. At this moment, under such high pressure, he couldn't find where the problem lay. The man in his forties was so nervous that cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
"The Finance Department has quite a few people, but they can't even figure out a quarterly report. It turns out the company is just employing a bunch of idlers. Director Yang, how can I trust your professionalism in the future? Will the financial data your department produces still be usable?"
Yin Dong's voice was not loud, but these words were spoken in front of more than a dozen department executives, which really did not give Yang Ming any face.
Several other department heads who had a bad relationship with the Finance Department jumped in to agree, "Boss Yin is right. Isn't rigor the most important thing in finance? If even the most basic report data is wrong, what's the point of financial analysis?"
"Yeah, after analyzing it over and over again, it turns out the data is all wrong. Isn't this a joke?"
Yang Ming was so embarrassed that his mind was in a mess. The more anxious he became, the harder it was to find the problem.
Yin Dong was scolding not only Yang Ming but also the entire Finance Department. Jiang Yuan, who was standing by, felt as if she had been slapped in the face, and her face was burning.
She picked up the document and carefully checked each item from the balance sheet to the cash flow statement.
After a few seconds, Jiang Yuan's gaze stopped at a certain part of the report. "There's something wrong with the cash flow statement. Our company's accounts receivable are very small, and most of our partner companies have very short billing cycles. The 'cash received from sales of goods and rendering of services' item in the cash flow statement should be much greater than our operating income, but the current data doesn't conform to this logic."
After she finished speaking, she raised her head and looked at Yin Dong.
Yin Dong's face was still very gloomy.
After Jiang Yuan's reminder, Yang Ming suddenly realized something. He immediately put on a serious expression and said with a wry smile, "Young people are really quick-witted. Mr. Yin is right to criticize me. I really shouldn't have made such a low-level mistake. Mr. Yin, please wait a moment. I'll have someone recalculate the data right away."
Yin Dong asked expressionlessly, "How long?"
"Very quickly, about ten minutes or so."
As Yang Ming finished speaking, the expression on his face froze. Some of the executives present had already revealed mockery and ridicule on their faces.
Someone spoke up, "Director Yang, are you asking us all to wait here while you slowly calculate the numbers? You really don't take our time seriously."
Yang Ming was caught in a dilemma, and his face was filled with extreme embarrassment.
"It won't take that long. I'll fix the wrong data right now. Give me a minute."
As Jiang Yuan spoke, he picked up a pen from the table and started calculating on the report.
