Chapter 53: Chest Pain
At the department meeting in the morning, Yang Ming directly announced the candidate for the department to participate in this merger and acquisition. There was only one person, Jiang Yuan.
There are a total of twenty-two employees in the Finance Department, from top to bottom, and Jiang Yuan is the one with the least experience.
In terms of seniority, she would never be ranked above him.
The reason Yang Ming gave was that Jiang Yuan had made great contributions to the Finance Department at the last quarterly meeting, demonstrating strong professional strength and adaptability, and was unanimously recognized by the company's superiors.
As soon as Yang Ming finished speaking, there was an undercurrent of excitement in the audience. Although no one dared to whisper in the meeting, the expressions on everyone's faces were very interesting, ranging from surprise, confusion, resentment, and some were obviously watching the show.
Some people were crowding together and winking at each other, looking at Jiang Yuan's face with contempt and ridicule. Jiang Yuan sat in his seat without looking away.
That afternoon, Jiang Yuan carried a laptop and followed Yang Ming from the Finance Department to the large office on the top floor.
The company selected key business personnel from various departments to form an M&A team. For contract collaboration, everyone was arranged in the same open office to conduct sufficient due diligence and other preparations for the M&A negotiations.
Because of the tight time schedule and heavy workload, team members had to work overtime until late at night every day, and Jiang Yuan gritted his teeth and worked hard.
Although Jiang Yuan nominally assisted Yang Ming, in reality, Yang Ming could not sit still in the office every day, and most of the work fell on Jiang Yuan alone.
Financial due diligence requires a full understanding of the other company's financial situation. She was not involved in the early stages of the merger and acquisition, so now she needs to carefully check every detail from the beginning, and there is simply not enough time.
In order not to hold the team back, Jiang Yuan simply did not go home every night. He worked overtime until late at night and when he was extremely sleepy he would lie down on the table and take a nap.
She worked almost non-stop for a week and stayed in the office for both weekends. When she got to work on Monday morning, Jiang Yuan was sleeping on the table and she could hear faint whispers in her ears.
"You said she was trying so hard, wasn't she just trying to clean herself? Is she cleaning herself clean? It's really funny."
"There are so many people in the Finance Department, why did she get the job? She was made a full-time employee less than a month after joining, and her salary is directly based on the level of a financial manager. It would be strange if there is no trickery."
"The news has spread all over the Finance Department. Yang Ming would ask her to come to his office whenever he had nothing to do, close the door, and chat for half an hour."
The two people who were talking were two female colleagues from the technical department. Their workstations were just diagonally in front of Jiang Yuan. Although they deliberately lowered their voices, every word they said reached Jiang Yuan's ears.
All of Jiang Yuan's sleepiness disappeared in an instant, and his brain felt like there was a kettle boiling and bubbling.
"Stop talking about it. There's a twenty-year age difference between the two of them. It's disgusting just thinking about it."
"Yang Ming's head is almost bald, and she really has the guts to take advantage of him."
"In a society where money and power reign supreme, these girls are willing to do anything. Don't be fooled by their fair and clean appearance; you never know how dirty their bodies are."
Jiang Yuan lay on the table, his chest felt so bloated that it seemed like it was about to explode, and his fists were clenched stiffly and numbly.
She was not afraid of falling out with them in public, but she was afraid that after the falling out, the subsequent M&A work would not be able to proceed. She was even more afraid that Yin Dong would find something to hold against her and directly fire her from the M&A team.
She urgently needed the bonus, and Yang Ming told her that if the merger was successful, each person would receive a performance bonus of no less than 150,000.
Jiang Yuan lay on the table motionless, his chest feeling stuffy and painful.
