Chapter 601: She’s gone?

Chapter 601: She’s gone?

"Ji Chuan, quickly kick this woman away."

Mrs. Ji sat down on the sofa, put one hand on her chest and took a deep breath.

Ji Chuan said in a muffled voice: "If you have anything to say, go home and talk. I'll take you back."

Mrs. Ji's expression froze, "Do you still want to keep her?"

Ji Chuan's breath was suppressed: "Who is gossiping in front of you? It's Wei Wei."

"Don't drag this into other people's heads! If she were innocent, there wouldn't be all these rumors. Did you see what she looked like just now? I asked her those questions, but she couldn't answer a single word. Did I try to silence her? Isn't that like a thief with a guilty conscience? How could I have wronged her? Xiaochuan, how could you be interested in such a questionable woman? Are you deliberately trying to piss me off to death?"

Mrs. Ji kept massaging her chest as she spoke.

Mrs. Ji has been suffering from depression for more than ten years, starting from the year when Ji Chuan's father's mistress gave birth to an illegitimate child. In recent years, as Ji Chuan's father came home less and less frequently, her condition became more and more serious.

Ji Chuan suppressed his anger and said calmly, "I'll take you home first. I have work to do later."

Mrs. Ji looked up at Ji Chuan's face and said indifferently, "If you want to be with this worthless woman again, you have to make me mad to death first."

Ji Chuan's face turned pale and he opened the door.

Mrs. Ji walked out.

Xu Hui's seat at the front desk was empty, she probably had left in advance.

Ji Chuan sent her mother home without stopping, and then turned back to the law firm.

It was already lunchtime, and there were only a few people in the entire law firm. Xu Hui was still nowhere to be seen at the front desk.

He strode to the door of the lounge and pushed it open. Several colleagues were sitting inside eating and drinking coffee.

"Boss, are you looking for your sister-in-law?"

Someone saw that he looked unhappy and asked him about it.

"Where did she go?"

"She passed away not long after you sent the old lady away."

Ji Chuan's heart suddenly felt empty.

He stepped out, took out his cell phone and called her.

He waited for a long time, his heart sinking as the dead tone came from the phone. At one moment, a familiar voice finally came from the other end, "You're back?"

Ji Chuan clutched his phone and asked, "Where are you?"

"look up."

The voice on the phone was clear and crisp.

He looked up suddenly and saw several female colleagues from the administrative department coming in from the main entrance of the law firm, chatting and laughing. Xu Hui was among them.

She hung up the phone, put it in her pocket and smiled at him.

It was difficult for Ji Chuan to describe the feeling at this moment. This was the first time in his life that he felt the taste of regaining something he had lost.

He walked a few steps to the front desk. Several colleagues greeted him. He nodded and said directly to Xu Hui: "Come to my office."

Xu Hui paused slightly, then raised his foot to follow.

The door closed, and she turned around to see him standing by the desk, not sitting down, with a slightly gloomy expression.

She asked tentatively, "Has Auntie persuaded you?"

He didn't answer but asked, "Where have you been?"

Xu Hui blinked and said, "Let's eat. I went downstairs with them to eat something."

After she finished speaking, she suddenly remembered something and immediately said, "Oh, I forgot. When you left this morning, you said we'd have lunch together. I thought you'd have eaten at home when you got home, so I didn't wait for you."

There was even a hint of a smile on her face, and the slap mark on her cheek had disappeared.

He stared at her gravely for a full ten seconds before asking calmly, "What did you eat?"
