Chapter 667: Gradually Drifting Away

Chapter 667: Gradually Drifting Away

After saying this, Zhang Xiaoya seemed to realize that she was a little too angry, so she softened her tone and said, "I'm just a beast of burden working for the boss, I have no choice."

Her words just confirmed Kuang Ye's guess. Sure enough, the man was her colleague.

He curled his lips and smiled, "Oxen and horses are also good. They can earn their own livings and rely on their own abilities."

After saying that, he seemed to have nothing more to say, so he took the initiative to say, "Go up and get some rest. Don't you have to work hard tomorrow?"

Zhang Xiaoya felt a little relieved and nodded, "Then I'll go upstairs, you can go back too."

She wanted to add, "Drive slowly on the road," but she felt it was too ambiguous and couldn't say it.

So she turned around and slowly walked back downstairs to her unit.

Kuang Ye's gaze lingered on her back for a few seconds, and he suddenly called out to her, "How are you thinking about the proposal I told you about last time?"

Her heart suddenly tightened, and then she heard him say, "Let me pay back what you owe Jiang Yuan and Xu Hui first, so that you don't have too heavy a burden on your shoulders."

Her heartbeat suddenly dropped to a steady rhythm. She turned around a little late and said, "No, I still plan to pay it back myself. I don't want to borrow money to pay it back."

He closed his mouth solemnly, his eyes darkening, "Okay, you have backbone, I won't delay you from supporting yourself."

Zhang Xiaoya clearly heard another meaning in this sentence.

She looked up at him. He still had a smile on his face, but the smile didn't seem to reach his eyes.

"Okay, it's getting late. I won't take up your rest time. Hurry up and go upstairs, otherwise your uncle will be waiting anxiously at home."

As he spoke, he turned around and walked around the front of the car towards the driver's seat.

Zhang Xiaoya stood there for a few seconds, wanting to say something, but her lips moved but no sound came out. She slowly turned around and walked back to the stairwell.

I heard the sound of a car engine.

Zhang Xiaoya walked up the stairs one by one. She had been wearing high heels for a day. They were too cheap and of average quality. Every time she climbed a step, she felt a piercing pain in her toes and heels. The corridor was dark, so she walked slowly, holding on to the stairs. The roar of the car engine gradually faded away from her ears.

Halfway up the stairs, she suddenly stopped, took out her phone, and quickly and politely sent a message to the department head who had brought her back: "Thank you, manager, for personally bringing me back. Please drive slowly and be careful on the way."

After a few seconds, the other party replied, "Zhang Xiaoya, don't try to please me. I won't fall for it. I just want a perfect plan. You'd better work overtime to get it done for me before the client comes to the company. Otherwise, if the higher-ups come to blame me, I'll drag you down with me."

Zhang Xiaoya thought to herself: Who said flattery works? She had been flattering him all the way, begging him for two days' grace, but who knew that he was a kind cat in front of her, but behind her back he was still that ferocious tiger.

Zhang Xiaoya gritted her teeth, bent down, took off her high heels, and went upstairs barefoot at a faster pace.

She returned to the bedroom and subconsciously walked to the windowsill. Although she knew that he had already driven away, she still opened the curtains and looked down at the empty space in front of the building.

The area in front of the building was deserted, not even a single person could be seen. Everything was very quiet. Zhang Xiaoya stood blankly at the window for a while, then she heard her father's voice coming from outside the door, "My daughter, the meal is ready. Eat and go to bed. You have to get up early tomorrow."
