Chapter 734 "Where have you been?"
When Xu Hui opened the door and went out of the bedroom, there was no one in the living room and the dining room was a mess.
Ji Chuan was driving. Her mother had calmed down after taking the medicine. She sat in the back seat, staring blankly out the window.
It was unknown how long it took before her mother uttered the first words, "I'm sorry, I'm sick again."
Ji Chuan's throat was choked with sobs, but he didn't say anything and just increased the speed of the car.
He didn't know how many times he had heard this sentence, but every time he heard it, it was like a needle piercing his heart.
He would rather she remained silent and didn't speak.
"Did I hurt anyone?"
Ji Chuan managed to squeeze out a sound, "No."
His mother paused and said, "I know I'm a disgusting person. Your father hates me. Now, you're starting to hate me too, right?"
Ji Chuan kept a sullen face and said nothing.
"Even if it disgusts you, I can't stand by and watch you get manipulated and harmed by that woman. If you really marry her, she'll drag you down to the point where you can't even get up. What kind of family is that? It's a pit from which there's no escape. Why are you so stubborn and willing to let yourself fall into it?"
"You've worked so hard for so many years to get to where you are today. For this woman, you've put all your wealth into it. Ji Chuan, have you lost your mind?"
His mother was breathing heavily.
Ji Chuan looked ahead calmly, his hands on the steering wheel, veins bulging.
"You should break up with this woman as soon as possible. Which woman out there isn't better than her? Wei Wei's parents had dinner with me a while ago, saying that Wei Wei still can't let you go. I don't understand. What is it about Wei Wei that you dislike? She's beautiful and generous, and her temperament and personality match yours. You've worked together for so many years. Both she and her family can help you when you're in trouble. This is a hundred times better than that Xu Hui. What can Xu Hui do to help you? What can her family give you? Why can't you see clearly?"
There was a red light ahead, and Ji Chuan braked suddenly.
His mother was still chattering in the back seat. He took out his cell phone, rubbed it twice, and called Xu Hui.
He waited for a long time, but no one answered the phone.
The green light came on and he stepped on the accelerator to the bottom.
Ji Chuan sent her mother back home, gave a few words of advice to the aunt who had been with her mother all year round, then turned around and drove back.
He sped all the way to the garage, rushed into the elevator, opened the door quickly, and shouted, "Xu Hui" as he entered.
The house was silent.
In the restaurant, the mess his mother had made had been cleaned up, and the tables and chairs had been lifted from the ground and placed neatly.
He squatted down and opened the shoe cabinet, but her shoes were gone.
"Xu Hui!"
He shouted again, but the rapid shout seemed hollow and powerless in the huge space.
Ji Chuan took out his cell phone, but before he could make a call, he heard a noise at the door behind him. Then, the door was opened and a familiar figure walked in.
Xu Hui looked up at him in surprise, "Why did you come back so soon?"
He lowered his voice and asked, "Where have you been?"
"I went downstairs to take out the trash."
She disposed of the broken glass.
He took two steps towards her and bent down to kiss her.
Xu Hui felt something and wanted to open her mouth to ask him if he thought she was gone, but she couldn't ask. All the sounds in her throat were swallowed by him.
