Chapter 856: Avoiding Suspicion

Chapter 856: Avoiding Suspicion

After Ji Chuan sent Xu Hui back to school, he went back to the hospital.

Just as he reached the door of the ward, it opened from the inside and a young man wearing glasses walked out. Ji Chuan glanced at him and just turned his body indifferently, as if he didn't see anything.

The man said politely, "Mr. Ji, it's a coincidence that we met. Minister Ji just asked me to tell you something on the phone. He wants to talk to you. Please set a time and I will arrange it."

"No time."

Ji Chuan replied coldly, without even raising his eyes, he raised his hand and pushed open the door of the ward, and closed the door as he stepped in.

After entering the room, Ji Chuan first glanced at the hospital bed. Her mother had her eyes slightly closed. When she heard him approaching, she slowly opened her eyes.

There were two more bouquets of flowers and some cut fruit plates on the bedside table. Ji Chuan paused for a moment, then pulled a chair and sat down beside the bed.

"Are you done?"

his mother asked.

Ji Chuan didn't reply, but instead looked up and asked, "Why is Secretary Wang here?"

His mother had been in poor health for a long time, falling ill every other day. His father had always been indifferent to the matter. If there was no reason, he would not have sent his secretary to visit her in the hospital.

Mrs. Ji was silent for a long time, then raised her head and said frankly, "I asked him to come."

Ji Chuan's eyes suddenly darkened.

"No matter what, he's your father. He has at least half the right to know about your marriage. Do you intend to keep it a secret from him forever?"

Mrs. Ji felt a little guilty when she said this. She saw that she could no longer control Ji Chuan and could only let his father put pressure on him. However, Ji Chuan had always stood by her without hesitation and almost turned against his father for her. But now, she had no choice but to push him to the opposite side.

Ji Chuan suddenly stood up from his chair and stared at his mother in almost disbelief, the sadness in his eyes tightly suppressed by anger.

The door of the ward was pushed open, and then a female voice came to my ears, "Auntie, what do you think of this vase?"

Wei Wei walked in with a transparent vase filled with water in her hand. After taking a few steps, she saw a familiar figure standing by the bed. She immediately slowed down her pace and her voice became noticeably lower: "Mr. Ji is back."

Ji Chuan recognized the voice but didn't turn his head.

Wei Wei walked to the bedside, put the vase down, and explained with a smile: "I went home today and heard from my mother that my aunt was in the hospital, so I called her. She said you were out for something and she was in the ward. I didn't have anything to do at home, so I wanted to come and keep her company. Now that you're back, I'll go back."

Ji Chuan looked up at her and said simply, "Thank you."

Wei smiled and said, "Why are you thanking me? I'm here to accompany my aunt. It has nothing to do with you."

She said as she picked up her bag.

Mrs. Ji took a look at Ji Chuan and immediately said, "Go and see Wei Wei off. She's been here with me for quite some time, feeding me fruit and keeping me company."

Wei Wei glanced at Ji Chuan inconspicuously and whispered, "No need."

"Let's go."

Ji Chuan had already turned around and walked towards the door.

Wei Wei followed immediately.

After leaving the ward, Ji Chuan continued walking forward without saying a word. Wei Wei followed him closely and took the initiative to talk about Mrs. Ji's condition. "I think Auntie's condition seems to be much worse recently. I just talked to the doctor for a few words. The doctor said to try to keep her in a good mood. Actually, Auntie is usually quite lonely at home, so she has wild thoughts. She knows you are busy with work and tries not to disturb you. If you have time, you should spend more time with her."
