Chapter 96 Entering the Village (1/2)

Chapter 96 Entering the Village

At the bus stop at the village entrance, the only mountain road leading into the village is a dirt road with bare hills next to it.

But the soil on the hill seemed to be about to fall down at any time, and there was nothing to stop it.

The village chief and his men were waiting for them at the intersection.

"Welcome, welcome!"

The village chief was smiling happily, but his left eye was white, which looked a bit weird.

"You are the guests of the show Aiyaya, right? The production team informed us that the filming will not start until a few days later, so they asked us to arrange accommodation for you first."

That's right. When people come from the bustling city and see the piles of mud houses made of stones and earth not far away, they feel really uncomfortable.

Won't they also have to live here when the time comes?

The bus driver drove away, and the group followed the village chief. The fatigue of the day made them not have much energy to observe the abnormalities of the village.

"Come, this is your temporary residence."

Fortunately, the residence arranged for them by the village chief was a small villa on the second floor.

"Oh, village chief, this house is nice."

It's rare to see a small villa in this dilapidated village.

The village chief said with a happy smile on his face,

"This... was built for me by my daughter. She has become successful and accomplished, so she built it for me."

So that's how it is, so one of the guests said,

"Your daughter is quite filial, is she from a poor family?"

The village chief's smile suddenly froze for a moment, and then he said as if nothing had happened,

"You must be hungry. Go in and rest first. I'll call you after I've cooked. You can eat soon."

Oh, the attention of others was instantly diverted, and they wanted to put down their luggage quickly, eat early and rest.

"It's okay, no rush, take your time."

The village chief smiled with a kind smile on his face. He watched everyone walk into the small house, and his smile became deeper.

As the land behind him was gradually swallowed by darkness, the smile on his face disappeared. He turned and walked towards the house next door, feeling numb and dazed.

The small house looked really nice and had many rooms, so everyone was quickly assigned a room.

Zhao Shengmo found a room in the corner, tidied up, and gathered with everyone in the living room.

"I didn't expect this shabby village to have something to recommend it. The rooms have refrigerators and air conditioners, which is quite rare."

As others were talking, Zhao Shengmo began to look around the living room.

She looked at the white wall, and under the white wall, she found a little red wax.

"What's wrong?"

Someone else asked.

"It's okay. I just feel like... there must have been something on this wall before, but it's been moved now."

As soon as she finished speaking, the people around her started laughing.

"What can be placed on the wall? Big things."

Big objects? What large object would burn a candle?

She looked up at the white wall. Above the wall, she could vaguely see a square shape. There seemed to be something like a photo frame placed there.

For a moment, a terrible thought flashed through her mind, but she then thought that since she was filming the show, it was normal to move away, so she forced herself to suppress her fear.

After what they discussed, the village chief appeared at the door, still with that simple smile on his face.

"It's time to eat."

As he turned around to lead the way, someone came over and whispered to Zhao Shengmo,

"Why do I feel that the village chief's smile is fake and a bit creepy?"

Zhao Shengmo didn't answer, thinking that she had the same feeling.

They had their meals at the village chief's house. Although the small western-style house was built for him by his daughter, he couldn't get used to it, so he continued to live in the original house and kept the small western-style house for receiving guests.

"That's probably what they mean when they say wild boars can't eat fine bran."

Ah, then the others would say,

"Wouldn't that be a waste?"

The village chief paused as he was serving rice. He turned his back to the crowd and was scooping rice from the steamer.
