Chapter 36: Sober Chu Junyi
"Eating venison with pheasant, cattail, abalone, and shrimp will cause malignant sores." When Chu Ci said this, everyone present gasped.
But the pheasant had already been brought back, and if it wasn't eaten it would go bad. Waste is not a good habit. Qianyan was in a dilemma, and Qianxue couldn't think of a better solution. The eldest sister Qianxi subconsciously cast her eyes on Chuci.
Chu Ci was just about to say that he wanted to make a cured chicken when someone with quick thinking came up with a good idea: "Sister-in-law, since we don't eat it ourselves, we can sell it to people who want to eat it. I'm sure the Chu and Liu families will be willing to buy it."
Chu Ci's eyes suddenly lit up. He stared at the child in front of him for a long time before coming back to his senses. "Are you Qilin from my second uncle's family?"
Fan Qilin, however, assumed Chu Ci was unwilling. Although he felt a little hurt, he was used to it. He scratched his head innocently and said with a smile, "Sister-in-law, I just mentioned it casually. If you don't want to, just pretend I never said it." But the smile seemed a little far-fetched.
"Why don't you agree? Your idea is very good." Chu Ci didn't understand how Fan Qilin could tell that he was unwilling, so he asked subconsciously.
"You agreed? Don't you think I'm taking advantage of you?" Fan Qilin was stunned. He had never been interested in studying, but rather in business. When his father found out, he scolded him for his decadence.
He had made the suggestion subconsciously, influenced by the atmosphere just now. He regretted it the moment he said it. But he hadn't expected Chu Ci to support him, even getting a little excited. "Can I go talk to them myself?"
His eyes sparkled with desire, like a puppy begging for meat. Facing such a cute little puppy, Chu Ci couldn't really say no, so he suddenly asked, "Do you like doing business? Did your family disapprove before?"
"No, no, sister-in-law misunderstood. Liu Jiabalang is my classmate, and he was frightened again this time, so I wanted to help him." I knew that Chu Ci's thinking was wild and imaginative, but I didn't expect her ideas to be so novel.
Chu Ci didn't quite believe it, "Help him out? Shouldn't it be given to him for free?"
This temptation was too obvious. Eldest sister Fan Qianxi could not bear it any longer. "Sister-in-law, Qilin is kind-hearted, but he is not stupid. Can the Liu family be easily provoked now?"
Even though her thoughts were exposed, Chu Ci didn't get angry. "Hey, big sis. I'm just curious. Is it true that Qilin contacted Liu Jiabalang out of sympathy?"
For some reason, it felt like in just two days, my cheap husband and the Fan family had suddenly come alive. What on earth had happened? Could it be that they had collectively come to their senses? Chu Ci secretly complained in his heart.
Fan Qianxi tapped Chu Ci's arm in amusement, "After all, Qilin is doing this for the Fan family."
Well, aside from gossiping and getting along with the Fan family, Chu Ci always felt like her brain wasn't enough. Fortunately, her biggest strength was her open-mindedness. If it wasn't enough, then she didn't need it. The Fan family was full of smart people anyway.
However, regardless of Fan Qilin's intentions, Chu Ci didn't want her things to go to waste. So, she helped him come up with a plan to pay off the debt with work: "Go to the Liu family and tell them that it's okay if they don't have the money. Just ask them to write an IOU. If they really can't pay it back, they can pay it back with labor when they get to Yazhou."
Chu Ci's words seemed to open a door to a new world for everyone present. "Sister-in-law, can the Chu family do the same?"
After hearing this, Chu Ci was basically certain that something was definitely going on.
Seeing this, Fan Qianxi hesitated to speak, but Chu Ci didn't care: "Okay."
Chu Ci answered readily, but he didn't expect that the younger generations of the Fan family were even faster. In a short while, they not only sold the pheasant, but also brought back two people.
A young man with a thin face and a stumbling gait must be the Liu Balang that Fan Qilin mentioned. The other person was more surprising; it turned out to be Chu Junyi, the eldest brother of the Chu family.
Chu Ci was so shocked that his jaw almost dropped. He quickly pulled Qianxue and Qianyan's sleeves and asked softly, "What happened in the past two days when I was away?"
Qianxue gently leaned her head closer to Chu Ci and said, "It wasn't during the two days you were away, but when they attacked, the eldest brother of the Chu family blocked a knife for Zhang Ying. Afterwards, Chu Yuhao secretly saved some steamed bread for Chu Junyi, and Zhang Ying didn't stop him."
Qianxue paused, seemingly unsure how to continue. Qianyan then took over and said, "Chu Junyi didn't act foolishly this time, but the other members of the Chu family still don't understand."
"Really?" Chu Ci suddenly became interested. "What did the mother and son of the Chu family do again?"
"Ahem." Qianxue was about to answer when her elder sister Fan Qianxi faked a cough. "Sister-in-law, the pork has been cut into cubes as you requested. What should we do next?"
Chu Ci turned around upon hearing the voice, only to find Chu Junyi standing behind him. He had been caught gossiping, but Chu Ci didn't feel guilty at all. Instead, he confidently ordered his men: "Chop it into pieces. This physical labor can be done by the eldest brother of the Chu family, right?"
Fan Junyi did not object and took the kitchen knife.
"You?" Chu Ci stared at Chu Junyi for a long time, realizing that he was truly working diligently. So, what had happened during the two days he was away? "May I ask why you suddenly became enlightened?"
Chu Junyi guessed that Chu Ci would speak, but she didn't expect her to ask so directly. "Do you believe me?"
"I want to know the reason." Chu Ci wasn't good at beating around the bush, and he didn't want to be constantly hounded by Chu Ling'er as a control group. Even though he always had the upper hand, a toad crawling on his feet wouldn't bite, but it would still be annoying.
Now that there is a clear example, Chu Ci naturally does not want to let it go.
Unexpectedly, Chu Junyi pondered for a long time and gave Chu Ci a maddening answer. "I don't know either. It's just that when I saw the man in black pointing the knife at Hao'er, I suddenly woke up."
"Is it because of Hao'er? But didn't you almost starve him to death because of Chu Ling'er before?" If Chu Ci had said this in the past, Chu Junyi would have pointed at her nose and cursed her. Now he could only smile bitterly: "If I said that I didn't realize Hao'er would die before, would you believe it?"
Chu Ci nodded, "I believe it."
Chu Junyi really lost his composure this time, even stopping his hands from chopping the meat: "Why, have you also..."
Chu Junyi could never understand why Chu Ci, who was so powerful, performed so poorly in the Marquis' Mansion and was suppressed by Chu Ling'er everywhere.
