Chapter 12 Li Mengyue Arrives at Xinghua Village (1/2)

Li Mengyue had just arrived in Qingshan Town. It was not yet dark, and the afterglow of the setting sun lightly spread over the houses and the ground, adding a bit of haziness and poetry to the evening scene in front of her.

It is the main street of the town. In addition to rows of shops on both sides of the street, there are also many stalls.

"Baozi, thin-skinned and stuffed buns..."

"Osmanthus cake..."

"Shaobing..."

"Mantou, soft and delicious mantou..."

As we continued walking forward, we saw the reflections of people drinking and toasting in the stained glass windows of the taverns, smoke rising from the tea stalls, and the rich smell of fireworks filling the entire street.

The system smelled the delicious food and temporarily forgot that the host had unilaterally cut off contact, and started muttering in Li Mengyue's mind again.

[Host, is that a fried dough twist? It's so crispy and crunchy. If I could have one, it would be worth my life on earth. Oh, and there's also a walnut cake. I'm craving some.]

Li Mengyue originally thought that she had a clear understanding of her son's foodie nature, but now she sees her son chattering non-stop whenever he encounters delicious food, and she has no choice but to stop.

I had no choice but to take out my money and buy all the snacks that the boss had mentioned. Since I bought so many, passers-by looked at me frequently.

Li Mengyue didn't care at all. She ate while listening to Tong's comments on the food. Before she knew it, they had finished all the snacks, more than a dozen at a time.

After eating and drinking, Li Mengyue went to Tongfu Inn and asked for a room on the upper floor, where she had a good sleep.

The next morning, Li Mengyue checked out of the hotel, went to the street to eat some breakfast, and then set off for Xinghua Village.

Xinghua Village is a small village below Qingshan Town, nestled against a mountain. It is about ten miles from the village to the town, and it takes more than an hour to walk there.

As I left town, three or four women passed by, chatting: "Hey, have you heard? Li's daughter-in-law Wan Niang is seriously ill and probably won't live long."

"Everyone in Xinghua Village knows that Zhou Zhen usually wastes time on his daughter-in-law, and now that Wanniang is sick, he doesn't even pay for her medical treatment. This is too much."

"Who says it isn't?"

"As the saying goes, if you have a stepmother, you will have a stepfather. This saying has come true with Li Gui."

"Oh, Wanniang is seriously ill this time. I heard it's because she misses her daughter. I don't know where that damn girl Li Ran has gone. She hasn't come back in two days. I wonder if she really ran off with someone."

"Li Cuihua, don't talk nonsense if it's not confirmed. A girl's innocence is of utmost importance. If you say anything without any evidence, Li Ran will not be able to get married if he comes back." A woman said with her face resting on her head.

When the woman named Li Cuihua heard this, she immediately became unhappy and shouted, "What's wrong? What did I say wrong? Li Ran stole money from our family two days ago and never came back. The Li family has been looking for him everywhere. What else can we do if he ran away with someone else? Besides, Wan Niang is sick because of Li Ran. She has taken so many medicines and spent so much money in the past two days. Not to mention Zhou Zhen, I would not give her money for medical treatment anymore."

Hearing Li Cuihua's unreasonable behavior, the women in the group subconsciously walked away quickly.

"Hey, what's wrong with you two? Aren't we going to sell eggs and buy things together?"

The woman traveling with them heard Li Cuihua's shouting and walked even faster, and soon she disappeared from their sight.

Li Mengyue, who was standing aside, heard Wanniang and Li Ran's names. She was walking quickly, but suddenly slowed down and followed the women at a leisurely pace.

From the conversation, we learned that they were from Xinghua Village. Speaking of Li Ping and Wan Niang, they were probably the biological parents of the mistress. Li Ran, who stole the family's money and ran away two months ago, was most likely the mistress's eldest sister, Yun Ran, the current legitimate daughter of the Prime Minister's Mansion.
