Chapter 141: Sleeping Ghost Stories
"Don't wake up your son." Li Zhi reminded.
Xie Tingzhou's deep eyes were filled with a smile, and he said with a firm tone: "Master Li, you are so powerful, I believe you will definitely find a way to prevent him from waking up."
Li Zhi's eyelids twitched. "Go to hell."
"Do you want to coax me to sleep?" Xie Tingzhou asked.
Li Zhi touched his neck, his eyes a little vague, "How, how do I get him to sleep?"
"Zhizhi, you'll know when you come over."
The man's voice was low and pleasant, like a cello, bringing a slight tingling sensation to the ears.
It is also like a fairy in the dark night, tempting you to commit a crime with fatal temptation.
Li Zhi coughed lightly and said, "Come here, I don't want to move."
"Okay, I'll come over." Xie Tingzhou responded.
He lifted the quilt covering his body and sat up from the bed. Just as he was about to reach out and pick up Li Yanjing who was sleeping in the middle, he was stopped by Li Zhi.
"Wait, let me do it, don't wake him up."
Xie Tingzhou raised his eyes and looked at her, "Okay."
The next second, Li Yanjing's body slowly floated up from the bed and stayed in mid-air.
"Come here." Li Zhi said.
Seeing this, Xie Tingzhou raised his eyebrows slightly and moved to the middle of the bed.
After seeing him move, Li Zhi gently placed Li Yanjing where he had slept before.
Xie Tingzhou reached out to cover his son with the quilt, then gently lay down on the bed again.
Li Zhi looked at Xie Tingzhou, who was lying face to face with her at such a close distance, and for a moment she didn't know what to say.
After a few seconds of silence, he was the first to speak: "How do I get her to sleep?"
Xie Tingzhou didn't say anything, but reached out and pulled her into his arms.
When their breaths met, the cool, cool scent of cedar on his body instantly enveloped her.
Li Zhi rested her head on his arm, her face pressed against his hot chest. Listening to his rhythmic heartbeat, her raven-black eyelashes trembled. "And then? Why didn't you say anything?"
Xie Tingzhou stroked her face with his large hand. "What bedtime story do you want to hear?"
Li Zhi reached out and poked his hard chest, a little surprised, "You can also tell bedtime stories?"
Xie Tingzhou chuckled and held her restless hand. "I learned this specifically for my son, but it hasn't come in handy yet. It's just right for you to be the first person to experience it."
"Okay, then just tell me one. I can listen to anything," said Li Zhi.
"In a certain school, there's a woman in red who often comes to the girls' dormitory late at night to sell things. No one knows how she evades the inspections of the dormitory supervisor downstairs."
"The woman would come almost every night, knocking on the doors of each dormitory. If someone opened the door, she would ask: Do you want a red dress?"
Li Zhi couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth when he heard this. He already knew what story he was going to tell and even guessed the subsequent plot, but he didn't say anything to stop him.
"The girls in the dormitory were very angry when they were woken up, and they kept shouting 'No!' This happened for several nights in a row."
"One night, the woman came to sell her red clothes again, knocking on the doors of each dormitory, dong dong dong..."
"At that moment, one of the dorm doors opened and a girl rushed out, yelling, 'What red clothes?! You keep coming here every night and no one buys! Get out of here!'"
"The woman just smiled at her and then turned and walked away without knocking on the doors of other dormitories."
"The next day, everyone in the dormitory was up except the girl who yelled at the woman selling red clothes."
"My roommate pulled back her blanket and saw she was covered in red. Her upper skin had been peeled off and she was covered in blood. It looked like she was wearing a red dress..."
"Are you done?" Li Zhi asked.
"I'm done." Xie Tingzhou replied, "How did I go?"
"First of all, I admit that you tell the story very well, with a good tone and pace. You have a natural talent for storytelling. But are you sure this is suitable for a bedtime story? Aren't you afraid that your son won't be able to fall asleep after hearing it?" Li Zhi couldn't help but complain, "Who would tell such a scary story to put someone to sleep?"
Xie Tingzhou laughed, "You are not a master of metaphysics in this area. I thought you would like to listen to this kind of ghost story."
"What you said is not right. According to your way of thinking, do I still like sleeping with ghosts?" Li Zhi said.
"Then should I change to a fairy tale?" Xie Tingzhou suggested.
Li Zhi raised an eyebrow. "Did you memorize all types of stories?"
"That's right." Xie Tingzhou said, "So I can tell you whatever you want to hear."
Li Zhi expressed her admiration, "It has to be you, thank you, Banxian."
Xie Tingzhou pinched her fingers and asked, "So do you still want to listen?"
Li Zhi shook her head and said, "Forget it. I don't want to listen anymore. Let's talk about something else."
"Okay, what do you want to talk about?" Xie Tingzhou asked.
Li Zhi's eyes flickered slightly. After a few seconds of silence, she asked the question she had been wondering all along, "You're so smart, there's no way you didn't notice something was wrong with me."
Xie Tingzhou's elegant and picturesque eyes flickered with emotion. He knew what she was talking about, "So what?"
It's easy to talk to smart people, so Li Zhi didn't beat around the bush and asked bluntly, "When did you know I wasn't hers?"
"The first time I saw you in the hospital and talked to you, I had doubts." Xie Tingzhou replied.
Li Zhi was a little surprised, "So fast, why?"
Xie Tingzhou stared at her, "Eyes, your eyes are not the same."
"Then what makes you completely sure?" Li Zhi asked again.
"After seeing how powerful you are, I'm completely certain." Xie Tingzhou said slowly, "If you were the same person, you'd be able to tell fortunes, so you wouldn't have gone to work at the club five years ago. You certainly wouldn't have let me do that to you so easily, and you wouldn't have lived so poorly in the past few years since giving birth."
"So that's how it is." Li Zhi nodded. "Then you wouldn't find it incredible, right? Even if a normal person noticed something was wrong, they wouldn't think that there was a different person inside, right?"
"From what you have said, I understand that there are ghosts in this world. So isn't it normal for a soul to be replaced?" Xie Tingzhou said.
"Okay." Li Zhi thought about it and said, "Then why don't you ask me? Aren't you curious about who I am?"
Xie Tingzhou lowered his eyes and looked at her with a lingering look, "You will say it when you want to. Now you have taken the initiative to tell me."
Li Zhi turned over, lying flat on the bed, and turned to look at him, "Do you want to hear my story?"
Xie Tingzhou raised his thin lips slightly, and said in a low and lazy voice, "I'd like to hear the details."
Li Zhi retracted her gaze and looked up at the ceiling above her head. She raised her hand that was resting on her stomach intermittently and said slowly, "Actually, I don't know who I am either."
