Chapter 148 Not a Local

Chapter 148 Not a Local

Yang Shuo nodded, took out his cell phone from his pocket, opened the address book, found the number marked "Mr. Huo", and called him.

However, when I called, the number showed as invalid.

Yang Shuo frowned, put down his phone, and looked up at Li Zhi, "This number has been cancelled and is now inactive."

Li Zhi wasn't too surprised. "Ask your friend if he has any other way to get in touch."

Yang Shuo responded and called his friend again.

The phone rang a few times before it was connected, and the voice of Yang Shuo's friend came from the other end of the phone.

"Hey, Brother Shuo."

"I have something to talk to Mr. Huo about, but I just called his number but it's not in service. Do you have any other way to contact him?" Yang Shuo asked.

A hint of surprise flashed in the friend's eyes when he heard this. "No number? That's impossible?"

"How can I lie to you? If you don't believe me, call them and see for yourself." Yang Shuo said.

"I have Mr. Huo's WeChat. I'll send him a message to ask what's going on," said the friend.

Yang Shuo hummed, "I'll wait for your call."

"Okay." The friend responded.

After hanging up the phone, Yang Shuo looked up at Li Zhi again and said, "Master Li, we have to wait. He said he has WeChat. I'm sending a message to ask him now."

Li Zhi nodded, "Okay."

She paused, then suddenly thought of something and continued, "By the way, is this Mr. Huo from your city?"

Yang Shuo shook his head. "I heard from my friend that he's not a local. He also met him through someone else's introduction."

"Then ask your friend later who he knew about this person," Li Zhi said.

Yang Shuo: "Okay."

As soon as he finished speaking, the cell phone in his hand rang.

Seeing this, Yang Shuo quickly pressed the answer button and asked, "Hello, how's it going?"

"Brother Shuo, I sent him a message, but he hasn't replied yet..." said the friend.

Yang Shuo guessed that the man surnamed Huo must have run away. "By the way, who introduced this Mr. Huo to you?"

"He's a business partner of mine from before," the friend replied.

"Is your partner also a local?" Yang Shuo asked.

"No, he's from Beijing," said my friend.

"Okay, I get it." Yang Shuo paused, then added, "Mr. Huo is not a good person. He lied to me. My son's affairs have nothing to do with my father..."

"What?!" The friend was stunned for a moment, then reacted and said in disbelief: "Brother Shuo, are you sure? But isn't your son fine?"

"I only told you this after I was sure about it, otherwise why would he cancel his number?" Yang Shuo said.

"Then how did you find out he cheated on you?" asked the friend.

Yang Shuo immediately told him briefly how the old man turned into a ghost to take his life and what happened after Li Zhi came.

After hearing this, the friend was shocked. He knew there was no reason for him to lie to him. "Is the Master Li you found still at your house?"

"Yes." Yang Shuo said.

"Can you ask her to come to my company and take a look? I'm afraid that Huo will harm me..." my friend said worriedly, "Money is not a problem, as long as she can come."

"Wait a minute, let me ask." Yang Shuo held the phone further away, looked up at Li Zhi, and asked her, "Master Li, my friend wants to have someone come over to take a look. He's afraid that Huo might have some tricks up his sleeve. Money is not a problem, as long as you can come."

"Sure, I want to go and see it too." Li Zhi replied.

"Okay." Yang Shuo nodded, put the phone back to his ear, and said to the other end, "Okay, Master Li agrees."

Friend: “Okay, okay.”

Yang Shuo hummed, "I won't tell you yet. I'll send you a message before she leaves."

Friend: “Okay.”

Yang Shuo hung up the phone, "Master Li, do you have anything else to ask?"

Li Zhi shook her head. "No, there are no more clues on your side."

Yang Shuo suddenly thought of something, glanced at his son sitting on the other side, and asked, "By the way, Master Li, since my son's illness has nothing to do with my father, then why did he suddenly become like this and why does he keep getting sick?"

He paused and continued, "And after doing what Mr. Huo said, my son did recover not long after my father was buried..."

"Your son did encounter something strange at school, which is why he suddenly had a fever and it kept coming back," Li Zhi explained.

"As for the fact that he recovered not long after being buried, it was naturally that person who secretly helped your son recover. Otherwise, if there was no effect, you would have suspected him a long time ago."

Yang Shuo clenched his fists and angrily smashed them against the armrest of the sofa. He gritted his teeth and said, "What grudge does my family have against him? He actually wanted to use such a cruel method to kill my father!"

Li Zhi's eyelashes twitched, "That's unknown."

"I won't let him go. I will use all my strength to find that Huo guy and avenge my father!" Yang Shuo said.

"It's better to be careful. Even if you really find him one day, no matter how many people you bring, you won't be able to defeat him, let alone catch him." Li Zhi reminded.

"But if you find any trace of him, please tell me immediately and I will deal with him."

Yang Shuo naturally listened to her words and nodded, "Okay, Master Li, I understand. I will notify you as soon as I find any trace of him."

Li Zhi stood up from the sofa slowly and took out his phone. "Add a contact number, and then send me your friend's address. I'm going over now."

"Okay!" Yang Shuo stood up, walked up to her, added her on WeChat, and then sent her the information about his friend's company.

"Master Li, I'm so grateful to you for being here today." Yang Shuo continued, "As for the reward, do you want..."

"Just give me the same amount as you prescribed to Master Jiang," said Li Zhi.

"Okay, I understand." Yang Shuo nodded. "Master Li, send me your bank card number and I'll transfer the money to you."

Li Zhi hummed, lowered her eyes to look at the phone screen, tapped the screen quickly with her slender fingers, and sent him her bank card number.

She put away her phone and looked up at him, "Okay, I've sent it to you. I should go now."

"I'll take you out." Yang Shuo said.

Li Zhi didn't refuse. He called his people and walked outside.

Just as she got in the car and left Yang's house for a distance, her mobile phone rang with a notification tone of payment received. It was the money transferred by Yang Shuo.

Li Zhi picked up her phone and took a look. After noticing the amount of the payment, she raised her eyebrows, turned to look at Master Jiang in the back seat, and asked, "Xiao Jiang, do you usually charge this much for a job you take privately?"
