Chapter 20: Tripping

Chapter 20: Tripping

When Li Yanjing came out of the ward and was still some distance away from the elevator, he saw Gu Yanran waiting there.

He paused for a moment, and even though he didn't like being with her, he continued walking in that direction.

Gu Yanran saw him coming and raised her hand to press the elevator button, "Are you done?"

Li Yanjing walked up to her and stopped without saying a word, as if he didn't hear what she said.

Gu Yanran couldn't help but roll her eyes and simply decided not to bother with such a cold attitude.

The two returned to the ward one after the other and saw Li Zhi and Jiang Ruyun talking to each other. The atmosphere seemed to be quite good.

Jiang Ruyun heard footsteps and turned around. Her eyes fell on Li Yanjing who was walking in front of her. Her eyes lit up and she stood up from the stool, "Yanjing, you're back."

Li Yanjing nodded, "Yeah."

"Son, call grandma." Li Zhi said.

Gu Yanran interrupted and said with a smile: "Grandma? Shouldn't you call her grandma?"

Li Zhi's beautiful eyebrows raised slightly, "My son has my last name, so of course he should call me grandma."

"With your last name?" Jiang Ruyun's eyes flashed with surprise, a little surprised, "I thought Yan Jing had the other surname, but it just happened to be the same as yours."

"It's my last name," Li Zhi said.

Gu Yanran's eyes flickered slightly, feeling something was wrong, "Sister, why is it your last name? Isn't it normally the man's last name?"

"Yeah." Jiang Ruyun was also a little confused.

Li Zhi smiled slightly, "It's my request, of course he wouldn't dare to have any objection."

Jiang Ruyun didn't suspect anything. Besides, he was already dead, so there was nothing to talk about. "By the way, Zhizhi, when you are discharged from the hospital, you and Yanjing should change your last names."

"No, we're fine now." Li Zhi refused. "These are just formalities. Don't worry too much. As long as Yan Jing and I go home, that's all."

Jiang Ruyun didn't force her. Facing this biological daughter she had missed for more than 20 years, she just wanted to make it up to her. Naturally, she agreed to everything and nodded. "Okay, I'll tell your dad when the time comes."

"Okay." Li Zhi responded, his eyes falling on Li Yanjing again, and reminded him, "Call for help."

Li Yanjing raised his eyes and looked at Jiang Ruyun in front of him. After a few seconds of silence, he slowly opened his mouth and called out, "Grandma..."

Jiang Ruyun pulled him into her arms, touched his cheek, and said with a smile, "Good, grandma's good grandson."

She met Li Yanjing's eyes. She hadn't looked carefully before, but now that she looked carefully, she felt that the child's eyebrows and eyes seemed familiar, as if she had seen them somewhere.

"Yan Jing, don't you like me?" Gu Yanran suddenly said.

Jiang Ruyun came back to her senses and looked up at her, "Yanran, what do you mean by that?"

Gu Yanran bit her lip, looking a little aggrieved. "Didn't I just go downstairs with Yan Jing? I called myself his aunt in front of him, but he said he didn't have an aunt... He ignored me when I spoke to him..."

She paused, raised her eyelids and glanced at Li Zhi lying on the hospital bed, then continued, "I wonder if it's because my sister doesn't like me and feels that I've been occupying the identity that originally belonged to her for more than 20 years, which is why Yan Jing also has a bad impression of me..."

Li Zhi raised her eyebrows, a hint of amusement in her eyes. She didn't expect that this fake guy couldn't hold back so quickly and started to make trouble for her.

"This..." Jiang Ruyun turned her head to look at Li Zhi lying on the bed behind her, then lowered her eyes to look at Li Yanjing in her arms and asked, "Yanjing, what's going on? Yanran is your aunt."

Li Yanjing raised her eyes to look at her, her black pupils clear and pure, "She is not your biological daughter at all. Why should I call someone who has no blood relationship with me aunt?"

Jiang Ruyun knew that what he said was right. Besides, how could a child understand so many twists and turns? She just said what she wanted to say. She squatted down, looked him in the eyes, and patiently explained to him: "Yan Jing, although Yanran is not grandma's biological daughter, she grew up by grandma's side since she was a child. Grandma naturally treats her as her own daughter. Sometimes blood ties don't have to be taken so seriously. Besides, isn't it good to have someone love you?"

Li Yanjing tilted her head. "Since she was taken away by mistake from my mother, and now that her mother is going home, shouldn't she also go back to her biological parents?"

"Grandma, are you reluctant to leave?"

"That's not fair to my mother at all. Why would she share your love with someone who has no blood relationship with her?"

Jiang Ruyun was stunned by his question. She and Gu Yuntian had indeed never thought of asking Gu Yanran to leave.

After all, the relationship of more than 20 years is not fake, and the Gu family has enough money to support one more person.

They originally thought of discussing with Gu Yanran's biological parents and letting the Gu family continue to support her.

But now I learned from Li Zhi that she did not grow up with Gu Yanran's biological parents.

This means that Gu Yanran’s biological parents are still missing, so it is even more unlikely that they would send her away.

Gu Yanran didn't expect this kid to be so talkative, and quickly said, "Mom, why don't I just leave? Yan Jing is right, I'm just an outsider. I'd better go back to my biological parents..."

Jiang Ruyun came back to her senses, raised her eyes and looked at her, frowning, "Yanran, what are you talking about? Besides, your biological parents are still missing, where can you go?"

Gu Yanran was stunned for a moment. "Mom, what do you mean? What do you mean my biological parents are still missing? Aren't my biological parents my sister's adoptive parents?"

Jiang Ruyun shook her head. "No, Zhizhi grew up in an orphanage until she was five years old. Someone must have deliberately taken her away by mistake."

The surprise on Gu Yanran's face was not fake. She had indeed just learned about this matter. "How could this happen..."

But within a few seconds, she realized that this was a great thing for her.

Since her biological parents haven't shown up yet, she has every reason to stay at the Gu family.

Jiang Ruyun and Gu Yuntian would not let her leave the Gu family, and they had no intention of letting her return to her biological parents.

Jiang Ruyun stood up, walked to Gu Yanran, stopped, took her hand and patted it gently, and said comfortingly: "Yanran, don't worry, we will definitely find your biological parents."

Gu Yanran didn't want them to look for it at all, but she certainly wouldn't say such words out loud. She nodded and said, "Okay."

"After finding her biological parents, can she leave home?" Li Yanjing suddenly spoke again.

Gu Yanran's expression was a little stiff. Her gaze fell on him and the corners of her eyes couldn't help but twitch. "You stupid kid, if you don't speak, no one will think you're dumb."

She glanced at Li Zhi, who was lying on the hospital bed and looked as if she had nothing to do with it, and suspected that the mother and son had discussed this beforehand.
