Chapter 22 Children Don’t Play with Idiots

Chapter 22 Children Don’t Play with Idiots

Li Yanjing turned to look at Gu Yu who was standing at the end of the bed. After a few seconds of silence, he said calmly, "Uncle."

Gu Yu's gaze fell on him again and he hummed.

It was the first time he had seen such a beautiful little boy, as delicate and delicate as a piece of jade. But when he thought that his mother was so beautiful, he would naturally not be bad either.

Gu Yu found that they were the only ones in the ward, and Li Zhi's significant other was nowhere to be seen. He couldn't help but ask curiously, "Where's my brother-in-law?"

Gu Yanran gently pulled his sleeve and said softly, "Ayu, my sister is a single mother."

"Single parent?" Gu Yu turned to look at her, "Divorced?"

Gu Yanran looked up at Li Zhi lying on the bed, then looked at Jiang Ruyun and shook her head.

Gu Yu frowned, "Sister, what do you mean by shaking your head?"

"Your brother-in-law is dead." Jiang Ruyun paused and continued, "Don't mention him again in the future, otherwise it will bring back your sister's sad memories."

Gu Yu didn't expect this to happen. He raised his hand and touched the tip of his nose. "Oh, sorry, I see."

Jiang Ruyun retracted her gaze and looked at Li Yanjing who was standing beside her legs. She said, "Yanjing, do you want to play with your uncle?"

Gu Yu sighed softly and couldn't help but say, "Mom, I'm already so old, what's the fun of me playing with a little kid?"

Li Yanjing raised her eyes and looked at Jiang Ruyun, "Grandma, even a child doesn't want to play with a fool."

Gu Yu reacted, his eyes widened slightly, and he walked towards him, "Hey, who are you calling stupid?"

"Gu Yu, what are you doing? Stop scaring your nephew." Jiang Ruyun patted his arm. "Yan Jing was right to call you an idiot. Look at your lousy grades. Only an idiot could get those scores, right?"

She patted Li Yanjing's head and continued with a smile: "Oh, our Yanjing is so smart. He can tell at a glance that his uncle is a fool."

Gu Yu: “…”

Gu Yanran came over and took his arm, "Ayu, don't think too much, Mom is just joking with you."

Gu Yu waved his hand and said nonchalantly, "It's okay, of course I know."

Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock on the ward door.

Jiang Ruyun pulled Li Yanjing to sit on the sofa, "Gu Yu, go open the door. Your dad might be here."

Gu Yu responded and walked towards the ward door.

He opened the door and looked at the young man standing outside. He was stunned at first, then reacted with surprise on his face. He obviously didn't expect that the person knocking on the door would be him.

"Mr. Zhou?!"

Gu Yu looked as if he had seen a ghost. How could Li Zhi know the eldest son of the Zhou family? Could he have walked into the wrong ward?

Zhou Du was also stunned. Logically, the person who opened the door should not be Li Zhi's son, so why was it the youngest son of the Gu family? He also wondered if he had walked into the wrong ward.

He checked the ward number hanging on the wall again and found that he was in the right one. Could it be that Zhou Xian remembered it wrong?

"Mr. Zhou, was it you who knocked on the door?" Gu Yu couldn't help but confirm.

Zhou Du nodded, "Yes."

Gu Yu glanced at the meal bag in his hand and said, "Um...Mr. Zhou, did you go to the wrong ward?"

"It's possible. Wait a moment, let me confirm it." No matter how smart Zhou Du was, he would never have thought that the Gu family had any relationship with Li Zhi. He took out his mobile phone from his pocket, opened WeChat, and tapped the screen with his fingers to send a message to Zhou Xian.

A few seconds later, he looked up at Gu Yu standing in front of him, his expression suddenly becoming a little strange, "I'm not wrong, you know... Li Zhi?"

Gu Yu was dumbfounded. He didn't expect that he had actually walked into the right ward and that he really knew Li Zhi. "You know Li Zhi too?"

Zhou Du hummed, and couldn't help but become curious, "You and Li Zhi?"

Gu Yu touched the back of his neck and said, "Li Zhi is my sister..."

"Your sister?" Zhou Du's eyes flashed with surprise when he heard that. He remembered that the eldest daughter of the Gu family didn't look like Li Zhi.

Gu Yu opened his mouth and was about to say something when Gu Yanran's voice came from behind him.

"Ayu, who is this? How do you open the door..." Gu Yanran walked over, and when she saw the person standing in the corridor outside the door, her voice stopped abruptly.

Coming back to his senses, he looked at Gu Yu beside him and said, "Mr. Zhou, are you... in the wrong place?"

Gu Yu coughed lightly and said, "He's not in the wrong place. He's here to look for Li Zhi."

Gu Yanran's pupils suddenly contracted, and there was a hint of surprise on her face. Looking for Li Zhi?

How could Li Zhi, a country bumpkin who grew up in an unknown place, know the eldest son of the Zhou family? That's bullshit, right?

When Zhou Du saw Gu Yu calling Li Zhi "sister" and Gu Yanran was there, he thought Li Zhi was a relative of the Gu family, and that the Gu family came to visit her after knowing that she was injured in a car accident.

"Is it inconvenient for me to go in now? Why don't I come back later?"

Gu Yu shook his head and turned sideways, "No, come in."

Gu Yanran also wanted to see what was going on, so she naturally wouldn't let him leave. "Yeah, it's not inconvenient, Mr. Zhou, please come in."

Zhou Du nodded and walked into the ward.

Li Zhi looked at Zhou Du who walked in and raised an eyebrow, "Why are you here?"

Zhou Du walked to the bedside and stopped, placing the food bag in his hand on the bedside table. He explained, "I came to see Ah Xian, and I happened to bring you some food. I didn't expect you to change wards. This contains medicinal soup."

Li Zhi glanced at the bags under his eyes and said, "Thanks."

"It's okay." Zhou Du looked up at Jiang Ruyun who was sitting on the sofa and greeted her, "Aunt Jiang."

Jiang Ruyun nodded, her face also full of surprise. She looked between the two of them and said incredulously, "You know Zhizhi?"

"Yes, I didn't expect Li Zhi to be your relative. I almost thought I walked into the wrong ward just now." Zhou Du replied.

Jiang Ruyun was just about to explain that she was not a relative but her biological daughter when she heard Gu Yanran's voice suddenly interrupting.

"Mr. Zhou, how did you get to know my sister?"

Zhou Du turned to look at her, "I met her through my brother."

"Er Zi Shao..." Gu Yanran nodded, then looked at Li Zhi lying on the hospital bed and asked with a smile, "Sister, how did you get to know Er Zi Shao?"

"We were fellow patients in the same ward before." Li Zhi said slowly.

Gu Yanran breathed a sigh of relief when she heard this. She said that with Li Zhi's commoner status, how could she possibly come into contact with the two young masters of the Zhou family? It turned out that they happened to be in the same ward. She was really lucky.

But no matter what, she doesn't have to worry about anything.

Even if the eldest son of the Zhou family fell in love with Li Zhi, he would never marry her. At most, he would just want to have fun with her because she is beautiful.

"Zhou Du, what's going on with your brother?" Jiang Ruyun asked.

"It was also a car accident." Zhou Du replied.

"Is the injury serious?" Jiang Ruyun asked again.

Zhou Du pushed his glasses down on his nose and said, "It's okay, it's just a broken leg. Compared to Li Zhi's, his injury is nothing."

Jiang Ruyun nodded, "I'm glad you're okay."

Zhou Du retracted his gaze and looked at Li Zhi lying on the hospital bed. "Then I'll leave first and won't disturb you anymore."

"Okay." Li Zhi responded.

Zhou Du said hello to the others and then left the ward.
