Chapter 7 Becoming a Patient
Halfway through the walk, I suddenly heard a rapid horn sound.
Zhou Xian frowned and turned to look in the direction of the sound, only to see a car driving straight towards him without slowing down.
His pupils suddenly contracted, and he had no time to react before he was hit.
Fortunately, the car was not going too fast and did not knock the person away. He was just hit on the legs and fell to the ground.
Big Orange kept calling out to Zhou Xian who was lying on the ground.
The driver who hit the person also got out of the car, took out his cell phone and dialed 120.
The only thing Zhou Xian was thinking about now was that he should listen to Master Li and not go out.
Who would have thought that he was just going out to walk his dog in the park a few hundred meters away, and even obeyed traffic rules, but he was hit by a car. He was so unlucky.
Soon, the ambulance arrived.
Zhou Xian was carried onto a stretcher. "Hey, my dog!"
The medical staff handed him the phone that had fallen to the ground, and said, "Pets are not allowed in the hospital."
Zhou Xian took it and put it in his pocket. Enduring the pain in his leg, he said slowly, "Then please help me remove the rope on its back. I'll let it go back on its own. It knows the way home."
"Okay." The medical staff responded.
After the rope was removed, Zhou Xian raised his hand and pointed in the direction of the community, "Big Orange, go home!"
“Woof woof woof!”
Zhou Xian pretended to be angry and said sternly, "Be obedient and go back."
Big Orange understood his expression, called out to him twice, and then ran towards the community with a wronged look on his face.
Zhou Xian felt relieved upon seeing this, retracted his gaze, and said to the medical staff, "It's OK."
The medical staff immediately carried him into the ambulance.
…
In the hospital.
After dinner, Li Zhi looked at the latest balance in her bank card and realized that she had gotten the money without any effort.
The truck driver who hit her had just come over and not only agreed to cover all her hospital expenses, but also compensated her 50,000 yuan on the spot after negotiation.
Li Zhi looked up at the little carrot-headed boy beside the bed and couldn't help but joked, "Son, if we don't have enough food to eat again, Mom will run out and get hit by a car. That way, she can really just lie down and get paid."
"Li Zhi, you!" Li Yanjing's eyebrows and heart skipped a beat. "Why are you still thinking of making money this way? If you get hit hard by a car, you could lose your life!"
"It's okay. If you get hit and killed, the other party will pay more compensation, at least hundreds of thousands. You can use this money to live comfortably until you are 18 years old." Li Zhi said.
Li Yanjing clenched her hands into fists and said seriously, "Li Zhi, I don't want you to die!"
Li Zhi sighed softly and reached out to touch his face. "I'm so mean, I've treated you so badly, I've always beaten and scolded you and never let you eat enough. If I died, shouldn't you be happy?"
Li Yanjing turned his head away and said in a muffled voice: "Even if...even if it is like this, I never thought of killing you..."
He paused, then added: "And the way you are now... it's fine..."
Li Zhi looked at him with an awkward expression, her eyes filled with a soft light, "How am I now?"
Li Yanjing turned back to look at her again, "Li Zhi, you clearly know it yourself, yet you still ask me!"
Li Zhi chuckled and stopped teasing him, "Don't ask anymore. What's the point of Li Zhi Li Zhi? You're so disrespectful. Don't you know how to call me mom?"
Li Yanjing turned his head away again and said nothing.
Li Zhi raised his eyebrows, but was not in a hurry, knowing that he needed some time to resolve this matter.
She withdrew her gaze, lowered her eyes to look at the phone screen, opened the online shopping platform, and prepared to buy a new phone.
Now this phone is completely a damaged version. The rear screen glass is broken, the screen has cracks, and it is also jerky when used. It is not smooth at all.
Li Zhi ordered the latest model of mobile phone directly from the official website of the fruit store.
She bought two, the other one was for Li Yanjing. Otherwise, this little kid would have no entertainment and would just sit on the bed and stare at her blankly, looking so pitiful.
After paying, Li Zhi slid the screen of her mobile phone and browsed children's clothes again, and bought several sets of clothes for Li Yanjing.
After finishing her online shopping, she just put down her phone when she heard the sound of the ward door opening.
Li Zhi looked up and saw two nurses pushing a post-operative bed in.
When his eyes fell on the person lying on the bed, he raised his eyebrows. He was really disobedient.
This is a double ward, and the bed next door is always empty.
The nurse transferred Zhou Xian to an empty bed, pulled up the curtain between the two beds, put Zhou Xian's belongings away, and then left the ward.
Li Zhi shook her head, retracted her gaze, turned to look at Li Yanjing who was sitting beside the bed, and said, "Son, it's getting late. Go wash your face and come to bed."
Li Yanjing nodded softly, got down from the stool, took off his shoes, put on the slippers he had bought and sent to him, and walked obediently towards the bathroom in the ward.
After washing up, he returned to the bedside, lowered the bed, took off his shoes, climbed onto the bed, lifted the quilt and lay down next to Li Zhi.
Although he slept for a long time in the afternoon, Li Yanjing closed his eyes unconsciously and fell asleep peacefully as he smelled the fragrance of his mother.
......
Zhou Xian slowly opened his eyes, feeling the pain in his legs, and couldn't help but hiss.
He lowered his eyes to look at his left leg in a cast, then quickly looked away and turned to look at the bedside table, where he saw his clothes and cell phone placed.
Just as Zhou Xian was about to reach for his phone, a cool and soothing voice came to his ears, "Wake up."
He was stunned for a moment, then came to his senses and looked in the direction of the sound with a hint of confusion on his face. Was this coming from the bed next door?
But this voice seems a little familiar, I seem to have heard it somewhere today.
Zhou Xian looked at the curtain separating the beds. "Are you talking to me?"
"Otherwise, is there anyone else here?"
Zhou Xian finally realized why this voice was so similar to Master Li's.
Just as he was about to say something, he saw the curtain slowly open to the side, revealing the bed next door.
When he saw the person lying on the bed, Zhou Xian couldn't help but widen his eyes, his brows filled with disbelief, "Li, Master Li?!"
What kind of coincidence is this? I met Master Li so soon and became his fellow patient.
"Didn't I tell you not to go out tonight? Why are you so disobedient?" Li Zhi said slowly.
Zhou Xian felt extremely regretful when he mentioned this. He raised his hand and touched the tip of his nose, saying awkwardly, "I saw that it was still light out, and it was just me, Dachengzi, and our dog at home. As you know, the dog needs to be walked every day, and there's a park a few hundred meters downstairs from my house. I thought something might happen, so I went out. I didn't expect to get hit by a car while crossing the road."
