Chapter 269 Give her a title
Huo Nanxiao was filled with mixed emotions. He said, "Haven't I been good enough to Xia Ningxi?"
The butler shook his head: "Young Master Huo, think carefully about what good things you've done for the young mistress."
The man frowned, stumped by the butler's question. He fell into a long silence and eventually returned to his study.
No one knows what Huo Nanxiao is really thinking.
At dinner time, Xia Ningxi instructed Huo Yuan to inform Huo Nanxiao to come downstairs for dinner.
Huo Nanxiao carried Huo Yuan downstairs.
The little guy didn't struggle, but when they got to the restaurant, he automatically ran to sit down next to Xia Ningxi.
Huo Nanxiao's two sons sat on either side of him, but were pressed tightly against Xia Ningxi's side. This scene made Huo Nanxiao feel somewhat uncomfortable.
Despite their young age, the two sons were very caring. One served Xia Ningxi food, and the other served her soup. They took excellent care of Xia Ningxi, one on each side.
Huo Nanxiao coughed lightly.
Huo Yuan looked up, bewildered.
Xia Xingxing stared at him with a very strange look in her eyes.
Neither of the two little ones made any attempt to serve Huo Nanxiao food; on the contrary, they looked at him with equally bewildered eyes.
Huo Nanxiao gave up, his face cold as he picked up the serving chopsticks and put a piece of sweet and sour pork ribs on Xia Ningxi's plate.
"I remember you really liked this dish. Today's dish is cooked perfectly. Give it a try."
A calm and pleasant remark completely stunned Xia Ningxi. She was very surprised, as Huo Nanxiao had never offered her food before. She looked down at the ribs in her bowl, her heart churning with turmoil. To avoid letting Huo Nanxiao notice, she tried her best to remain calm and silently took a bite.
"Yes, it tastes really good," Xia Ningxi praised.
Upon hearing this, Xia Xingxing and Huo Yuan each picked up a piece for themselves and echoed, "Wow, this is so delicious! This is the best pork ribs in the world!"
The two little ones said in unison, and each of them put an extra piece on Xia Ningxi's plate.
Huo Nanxiao watched, feeling somewhat uncomfortable, but he didn't say anything. He soon noticed that after he treated Xia Ningxi a little better, both of his sons would smile at him. Their sweet smiles were like warm honey in winter, very cute. At that moment, Huo Nanxiao felt that everything he did was worthwhile.
After dinner, the family of four sat in front of the TV watching cartoons, a rare sight indeed.
Huo Nanxiao subconsciously wanted to hug his two sons, but the little guys dodged without hesitation and lay on Xia Ningxi instead. Even though Xia Ningxi was busy making a phone call and didn't have time to pay attention to them, they didn't want to sit with Huo Nanxiao.
Huo Nanxiao got angry and left with a dark face.
"Mommy, Daddy seems angry."
After the person had walked away, Huo Yuan couldn't help but speak.
Xia Xingxing said, "We didn't provoke him, so let's ignore him."
"Okay." Huo Yuan nodded.
The two little ones continued watching cartoons.
Huo Nanxiao returned to his study with a headache, turned on his computer to start working, when a voice call came in. He frowned and answered it.
Ji Feibai greeted him with a smile: "Nan Xiao, long time no see."
"What is it?" Huo Nanxiao asked unhappily.
Ji Feibai said, "Old Song booked a private room, come over and have a drink."
Huo Nanxiao declined: "I'm busy."
Ji Feibai said, "How could you not have time? It's after get off work hours now."
"Take care of the child," Huo Nanxiao coldly uttered three words.
Ji Feibai immediately became interested: "I heard you've brought that illegitimate child you've been living with home. What does he look like? Let me see him."
"He's not an illegitimate child," Huo Nanxiao reminded him, displeased.
Ji Feibai said, "Fine, that's your son, okay? I'm really curious, let me see what he looks like? Is he really exactly the same as Huo Yuan?"

Huo Nanxiao coldly uttered three words.
Ji Feibai said, "Why don't we bring him out to see the world?"
"What kind of world can a child see in such a shady place?" Huo Nanxiao retorted.

After disappearing for a few minutes, Ji Feibai searched for a photo of Xia Ningxi online and posted it in the group: "You guys have to admit, she is indeed very beautiful. No wonder Nan Xiao couldn't resist her."
As soon as he posted this in the group chat, everyone saw Huo Nanxiao send a smiling emoji.
He didn't say a word, nor did he offer any explanation. That calm and composed smile, however, seemed terrifying at that moment, like the last smile of someone on the verge of exploding.
Ji Feibai quickly withdrew.
Others also wanted to retract their words, but it was too late and they couldn't. In the end, they could only send an awkward emoji to Huo Nanxiao in the group and say "Good evening".
Huo Nanxiao replied in the group chat: "Why did you stop?"
The entire group fell into dead silence; everyone seemed to have vanished into thin air, not daring to utter a sound.
Huo Nanxiao said, "Since you all have so much free time, I'll go talk to my uncle tomorrow about the mines in Africa and ask them to send you there."
Now the group could no longer sit still.
Ji Feibai said, "It was my fault, I'm sorry."
Song Xiaoqing asked curiously, "Nan Xiao, who exactly is this Xia Ningxi? It seems you have a good relationship with her."
Jin Mingxi: "How could she have been hiding outside with your child for so many years? Did you bring them home this time to give her a proper status?"
