Chapter 616 Can You Be a Little Kinder to Mommy?
As soon as Xia Ningxi turned around, she met a pair of deep, eerie eyes in the dark night.
These eyes were complex yet bright, even carrying a hint of unfathomable mystery and danger.
"Huo Nanxiao," Xia Ningxi called softly.
Huo Nanxiao asked, "What is it?"
"Is there something you haven't explained to me?" Xia Ningxi asked cautiously.
She felt that Huo Nanxiao was hiding something from her. Also, Huo Nanxiao's attitude towards her and the child was noticeably better than before. Could it be that Huo Xiuyuan was using Xia Wanwan to blackmail Huo Nanxiao, forcing Huo Nanxiao to be nicer to Xia Ningxi and the child?

Huo Nanxiao said, "You're injured and need help in the middle of the night. Are you going to yell for a nanny to come?"
“I can take care of myself,” Xia Ningxi explained.
Huo Nanxiao's face was gloomy, his dark eyes fixed on Xia Ningxi's face as he asked, word by word, "Don't you want to see me?"
"More or less." Xia Ningxi didn't bother to pretend.
Huo Nanxiao: "Then just bear with it."
One sentence left Xia Ningxi speechless. She couldn't say anything more. She was still injured and needed to rest, but she didn't want to sleep in the same bed with Huo Nanxiao right now. Huo Nanxiao probably noticed this too, and silently rolled up a blanket and went to sleep on the sofa.
Xia Ningxi couldn't help but ask, "Did Dad make things difficult for you?"
"No," Huo Nanxiao denied.

Xia Ningxi said softly, "Isn't there still Xia Wanwan? Even if she forgot, there must be a few people in her big family who can talk to her."
"What they say may not be credible." He left the room with those words indifferently.
His words, however, left Xia Ningxi stunned and unable to extricate herself from the shock for a long time. She knew Huo Nanxiao's character and was even more aware of how much he cared about Xia Wanwan. In his heart, whatever Xia Wanwan said must be true and could not be a lie.
Why the sudden change of heart? I'm starting to doubt the truthfulness of Xia Wanwan's words.
She didn't know why, and Huo Nanxiao didn't want to answer.
After leaving the master bedroom, Huo Nanxiao lit a cigarette in the hallway. Just as he was about to take a puff, he saw Huo Yuan come out of the room. He hurriedly stubbed out the cigarette and waved to disperse the smoke around him.
"Daddy," Huo Yuan called out sweetly.
Huo Nanxiao threw the cigarette into the trash can, smiled, walked over, picked up little Huo Yuan, and asked softly, "Why did you come out? Couldn't you sleep?"
"Yes," Huo Yuan replied truthfully.
Huo Nanxiao said, "Daddy will hold you while you sleep."
Huo Yuan shook his head and said softly, "I don't want to sleep."
"Why?" Huo Nanxiao asked, puzzled.
Huo Yuan lowered his head very low: "Because I want to stay here a little longer, because if I fall asleep I won't be able to see Daddy."
"Silly child, you can look at me after you wake up," Huo Nanxiao said gently.
Huo Yuan lowered his head and didn't speak, looking pitiful, his little hands tightly gripping Huo Nanxiao's clothes.
Huo Yuan is actually not a very good person at expressing himself. He used to be afraid to speak loudly in front of Huo Nanxiao. After spending more time with his younger siblings, Huo Yuan has become much more cheerful and knows how to express his thoughts. But his current cautious appearance makes Huo Nanxiao feel uneasy.
He didn't understand why a four-year-old child was always so cautious.
"A-Yuan, don't be afraid, Daddy is always here. If there's anything you want to say, tell Daddy," Huo Nanxiao asked in a deep voice.
Huo Yuan bit her little lip and said with a wronged look, "Daddy, I just don't understand why you and Mommy have to separate. I also don't understand why Daddy has to like Xia Wanwan. Mommy is fine too. I'm afraid that when I wake up, Mommy and I will have to leave here again, and then I will never see Daddy again."
Huo Yuan is different from his younger siblings. His younger siblings are not as dependent on Huo Nanxiao and can easily leave with their mother. But Huo Yuan is different. "But Mommy doesn't like Daddy leaving the capital, and she'll take me, my brother and sister and me away from here. Daddy, if I leave, will I really ever see you again?" Huo Yuan asked, puzzled. Huo Nanxiao replied, "I will not let you leave."

Huo Nanxiao frowned: "Didn't you say you didn't want to leave here? Why are you willing to leave the capital and go abroad with your mother?"
Huo Yuan thought for a long time before answering him: "Because I know that Mommy wants to leave here because Daddy has hurt her. If Daddy could treat Mommy better, she would definitely stay here, but Daddy didn't. Daddy still made Mommy sad. I don't want Mommy to be sad, so I will agree to Mommy leaving."
Although he is young, he knows everything.
He knew that Daddy didn't like Mommy.
He knew how important Xia Wanwan was to his father, and he also knew how sad his mother was to stay here.
Huo Yuan buried his face in Huo Nanxiao's arms and whispered, "Daddy, can you care about Mommy a little more? Can you be a little nicer to her?"
