Chapter 994 Let's Go to School in the Imperial City
“Okay, little sister is right, let’s not worry about Daddy.” Xingxing agreed with Chuchu’s idea and started assembling the Lego set.
Huo Yuan picked up a Lego piece and placed it in Xingxing's hand, saying, "Daddy is so busy, how come he still has time to come see us?"
Xingxing said, "Maybe it's the middle wife and the concubine fighting at home."
"A Chinese wife?" Huo Yuan asked, puzzled.
Xingxing said, "Xia Wanwan was married in the middle."
"Daddy is so busy. We don't even have time to play with our toys, but Daddy has time to marry several wives." Huo Yuan's little face showed sympathy.
Chu Chu said, "No wonder everyone outside says he's amazing, even Uncle Ling thinks Daddy is amazing. It turns out it's because Daddy has married so many wives."
“That makes some sense.” Xingxing nodded, agreeing with her sister.
Huo Nanxiao was working well and didn't intend to take the children's jokes to heart, but when he heard them talking about how many wives he had married and that he was going to marry Xia Luoluo, Huo Nanxiao couldn't hold back anymore.
He put down his computer, his sharp gaze falling on the three little ones. "Who told you I was going to marry Xia Luoluo?"
Startled by the question, the three little ones instinctively huddled together.
Chu Chu huffed arrogantly, "That's what everyone outside says."
"It's fake." Huo Nanxiao denied his relationship with Xia Luoluo.
Chu Chu didn't believe it: "You're lying. You're going to divorce Xia Wanwan. You must be preparing for Xia Luoluo's baby."
"I don't think much of Xia Luoluo, so naturally I won't marry her." Huo Nanxiao's attitude was very firm.
At first, I was skeptical.
Huo Yuan pressed further, "If you don't like her, why did you have a child with her?"
“That’s her child, not mine,” Huo Nanxiao replied.
"Isn't this the same?" Huo Yuan retorted.
Huo Nanxiao: "It's different. The child is not mine, and has nothing to do with me or you. So you don't need to care about this child."
He spoke very seriously, but the three little ones were completely confused.
The three little ones understood every word Huo Nanxiao said and tried their best to comprehend the meaning behind it, but why couldn't they understand it?
Everyone says the child belongs to the father, so why does the father say the child isn't his and has nothing to do with him? Does he mean it literally, or is the father deliberately shirking responsibility?
They couldn't tell either, and looked at each other for a long time without asking the question that was on their minds.
"Perhaps he wanted to tell us that he wouldn't bring Charlotte's child to our house?" Xingxing concluded.
Chu Chu nodded: "I understand, but this is our home, we can even refuse to let him in."
Huo Yuan: "Oh, right? So what exactly is Father trying to say after all that?"
Chu Chu: "I don't know, maybe they're trying to curry favor with us."
“Then let’s ignore him,” Xingxing said.
The three children reached an agreement and all lowered their heads to play with their toys, ignoring Huo Nanxiao.
When Xia Ningxi woke up and returned home, she saw the three little ones ostracizing Huo Nanxiao. It looked rather comical. Huo Nanxiao was probably angry, but he couldn't do anything about the three little ones. He was livid and didn't say a word. His eyes were full of dissatisfaction when he looked at Xia Ningxi. Anyone who didn't know better would think that he had been beaten by the children.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Xia Ningxi touched her face, not noticing anything on it.
Huo Nanxiao said, "They must have been watching the news a lot lately, right?"
"It should be." Xia Ningxi roughly guessed what had happened.
Huo Nanxiao said in a deep voice, "I have already drafted the divorce agreement, and I will divorce Xia Wanwan soon."
"I heard about it. It's quite a big deal. According to paparazzi photos, you two had a huge fight and couldn't reach an agreement on the divorce." Xia Ningxi described it with great seriousness.
Huo Nanxiao was even more dissatisfied: "Which paparazzi took this picture?"
"How would I know? It's all just gossip outside, and the internet is full of these scandals. If you want to see them, just type your name in online." Xia Ningxi thoughtfully gave Huo Nanxiao directions.
These scandals weren't just made up; they were all documented online. Xia Ningxi never expected that Huo Nanxiao, who cared so much for Xia Wanwan, would argue with her.
Once home, Xia Ningxi didn't want to discuss too much about Xia Wanwan. She was a little hungry, so she went into the kitchen. The cook had prepared dinner before leaving get off work, and it only needed to be heated up a little before eating.
Xia Ningxi heated up the food, brought it out, and instructed the three children to get bowls and chopsticks.
When Chu Chu saw Huo Nanxiao sitting there doing nothing, he said, "You have to come in and do some work too. You can't just sit around doing nothing."
"Okay." Huo Nanxiao got up and went into the kitchen.
Xia Ningxi had actually eaten dinner, but the three children got hungry quickly, so the cook usually left some late-night snacks.
This meal could basically be considered a late-night snack.
Huo Nanxiao didn't eat, but sat aside watching the three little ones peeling shrimp with relish, their tiny fingers covered in oil.
“I’ll peel them for you,” Huo Nanxiao said.
Chu Chu immediately shoved the dirty shrimp in her hand into Huo Nanxiao's hand: "Here, you said you'd peel them for me, but I didn't ask you for help. If you want some, I can share half with you."
"Are you really willing to share half with me?" Huo Nanxiao looked at the six peeled shrimp in Chu Chu's bowl, and as she nodded, he took half of them.
Chu Chu froze for a few seconds, on the verge of tears, but in the end she forced back the tears in her eyes and quickly ate the shrimp in her bowl.
"Slow down, no one's going to take it from you," Huo Nanxiao said.
Chu Chu didn't believe it: "You're talking nonsense. You're just taking it from me. You've taken half of it."
Huo Nanxiao peeled shrimp for Chu Chu again, filling her bowl to the brim. The little one couldn't eat as fast as Huo Nanxiao peeled shrimp, and she gradually slowed down.
Huo Yuan said, "I also want to eat the shrimp that Daddy peeled."
"Okay, here's the next one for you." Huo Nanxiao agreed, peeling shrimp not only for Huo Yuan, but also for Xingxing and Xia Ningxi, without any temper and with an overly stable mood.
Xia Ningxi sensed that Huo Nanxiao had something on his mind and asked, "Is there something you want to tell me?"
"I've invested in building a school and plan to recruit renowned teachers from both China and abroad to teach there. I intend to send my child back to the Huo family's school," Huo Nanxiao replied.
“You need to ask the child’s opinion,” Xia Ningxi replied.
Huo Nanxiao's gaze fell on the children, and he asked, "Do you want to go to school in the capital?"
Huo Yuan looked at his younger siblings, his eyes filled with need.
Chu Chu asked, "Is the school very big?"
"It's huge, and there's even a playground. You can play anywhere after class," Huo Nanxiao said.
Chu Chu: "Our kindergartens have playgrounds now, so why do we want to go to your school? Is there anything special about your playground?"
This question stumped Huo Nanxiao.
“It seems you don’t even know what’s so special about it. We’d definitely prefer to stay at the school closer to Mommy, rather than going back to the capital with you.” Chu Chu muttered to herself, then continued, “You didn’t mention the most important point: once we get to the capital, your little wives will come and cause trouble for Mommy. It’s too annoying, I don’t want to deal with them.”
