Chapter 272 The Peace She Gave Me
The two were almost touching, and in this quiet yet ambiguous space, there was an indescribable feeling.
They were husband and wife, and had done the most intimate things in the world.
Xia Ningxi knew Huo Nanxiao's physical condition, and Huo Nanxiao knew her just as well.
If the two of them continue like this, there's no guarantee that something won't happen.
Xia Ningxi knew that Huo Nanxiao had been clean all these years, remaining chaste for Xia Wanwan's sake, and had not touched a single woman other than herself.
The reason Huo Nanxiao had such an intimate relationship with Xia Ningxi was simply because he wanted a child.
But now that she's pregnant, Huo Nanxiao should avoid her like the plague.
“If Xia Wanwan wakes up and finds out you slept with me, she probably won’t be happy. So you should leave here as soon as possible. I’m sleepy and want to sleep,” Xia Ningxi said.
A complex light flashed in the depths of Huo Nanxiao's deep eyes.
Xia Ningxi ignored Huo Nanxiao and closed her eyes to go to sleep.
To her surprise, a deep groan came from beside her. She turned her head instinctively and saw that Huo Nanxiao was already lying next to her, showing no intention of leaving.
"Aren't you leaving?" Xia Ningxi asked angrily.
Huo Nanxiao snorted coldly: "Did I say I was leaving?"
"Isn't it inappropriate for you to lie here?" Xia Ningxi said.
Huo Nanxiao remained expressionless: "If you feel it's inappropriate, you can leave on your own."
Xia Ningxi was speechless after hearing this, and for a moment she didn't know what to say to Huo Nanxiao. In the end, she could only suppress her anger and remain silent. She turned over and went to sleep with her back to Huo Nanxiao.
Huo Nanxiao, however, had very mixed feelings at this moment.
This wasn't the first time he had slept with Xia Ningxi, but it was the first time in the past four years that he had been so close to her, lying on the same bed.

The moment this thought popped into Huo Nanxiao's mind, it shocked him. His handsome face became very complicated, and his heart became very heavy.
He didn't know why he had such an impulsive thought, but upon reflection, it might be due to the muscle memory he had developed from sharing a bed with Xia Ningxi over the years.
Huo Nanxiao's breathing became heavier.

Huo Nanxiao even found it strange, and upon closer inspection, he realized that Xia Ningxi had already fallen asleep.
She was really sleepy.
Huo Nanxiao was both amused and exasperated, and for a moment he didn't know what to say to her.
His deep eyes were fixed on Xia Ningxi's sleeping face. A few rays of bright moonlight shone through the window, faint yet still bright, allowing Huo Nanxiao to clearly outline Xia Ningxi's delicate features.
She is truly beautiful, especially when she is asleep; her beauty is breathtaking.
"No wonder she was able to have such a handsome son," Huo Nanxiao said with some pride.
He lay down beside Xia Ningxi, listening to the girl's breathing, and his initial turmoil gradually turned into calm.
Huo Nanxiao was surprised to find that this feeling was quite nice.
The first time he slept with Xia Ningxi and the two children, he did nothing, just slept peacefully together, which made Huo Nanxiao feel an unprecedented sense of tranquility.
This tranquility was something Huo Nanxiao had never experienced before.
He let down his guard, fell into a comfortable sleep, and enjoyed the rare moment.
No one knew that Huo Nanxiao had never slept in late in his life, nor had he ever missed work because of it. But when he slept with Xia Ningxi and their two children for one night, he actually overslept.
The first person to discover this was the housekeeper of Lanyuan.
The housekeeper waited downstairs for a long time but Huo Nanxiao didn't get up. It was almost time for him to go to work, and Huo Nanxiao still hadn't come downstairs. So he took it upon himself to knock on Huo Nanxiao's door. He eventually found out that Huo Nanxiao wasn't in his bedroom, but was sleeping in Xia Ningxi's guest room.
How could the butler dare to go and disturb them again?
He immediately went downstairs and instructed the kitchen to keep the breakfast warm.
As for the room, Xia Xingxing was the first to wake up. As soon as he woke up, Huo Yuan also woke up. The two brothers were always so in sync.
The two little ones paused for a moment when they saw each other, then grinned, something they did every day when they woke up.
"Good morning," Xia Xingxing greeted him.
Huo Yuan smiled sweetly: "Good morning, Xingxing."
"Where's Mommy?" Xia Xingxing asked.
Huo Yuan said, "Mommy sleeps here with me."
Xia Xingxing: "It's ten o'clock, shall we wake Mommy up?"
"Oh, wait, why is Daddy here?" Huo Yuan asked with a puzzled expression.
Xia Xingxing was also very surprised: "How come he sleeps with Mommy?"
The two little ones were shocked and looked at Huo Nanxiao with confusion.
"How about we wake up Daddy and ask him?" Huo Yuan suggested.
Xia Xingxing craned her neck and secretly glanced at Huo Nanxiao, a mischievous smile spreading across her face: "Brother, I want to pluck Daddy's beard."
“Daddy doesn’t have a beard,” Huo Yuan said.
Xia Xingxing didn't believe it: "Nonsense, he clearly has it."
The little guy looked closer and saw that Huo Nanxiao really didn't have any. His handsome, impeccable face was clean, with only indifference and nobility on it.
Xia Xingxing said, "Then pull Daddy's hair?"
"It will hurt a lot, won't it?" Huo Yuan was reluctant; he still loved his father very much.
Xia Xingxing said, "It won't hurt. Try pulling one out."
Huo Yuan actually listened to Xia Xingxing and reached out to pluck one, which caused Huo Nanxiao to open his eyes immediately.
Huo Yuan was stunned, and Xia Xingxing was also dumbfounded.
The two little ones were startled and tried to run away, but Huo Nanxiao caught Huo Yuan and also grabbed the mastermind. He caught his two youngest sons just like that. The two little ones screamed in fright, which woke Xia Ningxi up.
"Mommy, save me!"
"Mommy, save me!"
The two little ones immediately begged Xia Ningxi for help, but Huo Nanxiao slapped them on the bottom twice. The two little piglets immediately became obedient and dared not move. They looked at Huo Nanxiao with pitiful blinking eyes. Huo Yuan, in particular, was so scared that he was about to cry. His cute little fingers were still pinching the hair that had been pulled from Huo Nanxiao's head.
