Chapter 454 Beware of Her
Xia Ningxi didn't want to pay any attention to Huo Nanxiao, that bastard. She sat in the car without moving, not even bothering to roll her eyes at him. With a cold and stern face, she asked, "Young Master Huo, are you trying to kidnap me?"
"I heard you've been contacting hospitals abroad, and someone is already willing to take you in," Huo Nanxiao said slowly.
Xia Ningxi: "It has nothing to do with you."
"Whatever you do now is a futile struggle. I will not let you go, much less let you leave with the child. You'd better give up on that idea." Huo Nanxiao's face was cold, his dark eyes were icy and piercing, without a trace of tenderness.
Xia Ningxi had long known that Huo Nanxiao, that bastard, would go back on his word, so she was too lazy to argue with him and simply said "Oh" without any expression.
Huo Nanxiao's face hardened: "What's your attitude?"
"What attitude do you want from me? Huo Nanxiao, let me tell you, I've tolerated you for a long time. I've already been very lenient by not causing you any trouble. And yet, you take advantage of my kindness and threaten me? Do you think I'm afraid of you? If I stay in the capital, do you think I'll be the one who gets hurt?"
Xia Ningxi curled her lips in disdain and sneered, "Only Xia Wanwan will get hurt. I've already gotten everything she wanted. If I stay in the capital, she'll be the only one who'll be sad. You love her so much, you shouldn't be able to bear to see her sad, right?"
"Don't interfere in my affairs with her," Huo Nanxiao said very seriously.
Xia Ningxi sneered: "You think I want to meddle in your mess? You're the one who's gone too far and doesn't know what's good for you."
"It would be better for the children to stay in the capital. You're taking them abroad, to places where they don't know anyone. How are they supposed to survive?" Huo Nanxiao questioned.
Xia Ningxi said, "You don't need to worry about how they survive. Xingxing and Chuchu grew up abroad. This place is the most unfamiliar place to them. Their lives will only be better abroad."
"And what about A Yuan?" Huo Nanxiao asked in return.
Xia Ningxi said, "I will take good care of Ayuan."
"How will you take care of him? Can you keep A-Yuan by your side 24 hours a day to protect him?" Huo Nanxiao stared at Xia Ningxi's face.
Xia Ningxi said, "Why not?"
“Xingxing and Chuchu grew up abroad and have no problem communicating in the language. But Ayuan is different. Ayuan learns more slowly and is more likely to resist new environments. If you take him abroad and he gets sick, have you thought about the consequences?” Huo Nanxiao asked rhetorically.
Xia Ningxi said, "I am a doctor myself. I know how to regulate his emotions and teach him how to adapt. I can do it very well. I love my child more than you do. You can rest assured about that."
"You're determined to leave, aren't you?" Huo Nanxiao sat in the car, leaning back in his seat, his hands gripping the steering wheel, his voice somewhat grave.
Xia Ningxi didn't look at him, but turned her head to look at the scenery outside the window. Watching the bustling streets of the capital city, her gaze was immediately drawn to a couple passing by. They were walking side by side, with a very cute little girl in between them. The little girl was only three or four years old, and she was incredibly adorable. She stood between her parents, running happily, while the couple chased after her, laughing. The family was enjoying a harmonious time together...
But even such a simple thing was a luxury in Xia Ningxi's eyes.
Does she really have to leave?
Why did she leave?
Isn't it because... Huo Nanxiao can't tolerate her?
Xia Ningxi is truly a petty person. She couldn't bear to see her husband grow old happily with another woman, so leaving was the best option for her.
"If I don't leave, are you going to let Xia Wanwan leave?"
She looked at the man's profile, her clear eyes filled with seriousness.
Huo Nanxiao remained silent, his profile displaying a cold demeanor.
"Why won't you answer me?" Xia Ningxi's voice trembled slightly.
Huo Nanxiao said, "Xia Ningxi, you know how Xia Wanwan was injured. I can't just abandon her."
"I see."
She smiled bitterly, thinking she must be crazy. She already knew the outcome, so why did she ask?
Such a grown man, yet he still couldn't help but humiliate himself.
Suppressing her bitterness, Xia Ningxi turned around, looked at the road ahead, and said coldly, "Take me back to the hospital. I have an appointment with a patient today."
"You..." Huo Nanxiao hesitated, unable to finish his sentence.
Xia Ningxi said, "Let's drive."
Her indifferent attitude indicated she no longer wanted to answer Huo Nanxiao's questions; she just wanted to leave immediately!
Upon arriving at the hospital, Xia Ningxi didn't wait for Huo Nanxiao to say goodbye. She opened the car door, ran out, and left without looking back.
Huo Nanxiao watched her departing figure, his feelings a jumble of emotions. He knew that Xia Ningxi was actually sad, and seeing her pretend to be strong as she ran away made Huo Nanxiao feel terrible.
He stopped by the roadside and smoked a cigarette to distract himself.
The phone in the car suddenly rang. It was Xia Wanwan calling. Huo Nanxiao looked at the name on the screen but hesitated to press the answer button. After the call ended, Huo Nanxiao stubbed out his cigarette and prepared to drive away, but then he heard a crisp sound from the car door. Someone was knocking on the door.
His gaze sharpened, thinking it was Xia Ningxi returning, but when he saw Xia Wanwan's familiar face, he fell silent.
"Nan Xiao, what a coincidence," Xia Wanwan greeted with a smile.
Seeing that she was inconvenienced, Huo Nanxiao got out of the car and walked to Xia Wanwan's side: "What are you doing at the hospital?"
"I'm coming to the hospital for a follow-up check-up," Xia Wanwan replied.
Huo Nanxiao glanced at Xia Luoluo, who was pushing a wheelchair behind Xia Wanwan, his eyes cold.
"Hello, Young Master Huo." Xia Luoluo's face was pale, not understanding why Huo Nanxiao was looking at her like that.
Huo Nanxiao said, "You can go now. I'll take your sister home."
"Isn't this a bit inappropriate?" Xia Luoluo hesitated.
Huo Nanxiao asked, "What's wrong with it?"
He was clearly angry.
"I, I'm leaving now." Xia Luoluo's eyes reddened with grievance, and she reluctantly left after handing Xia Wanwan over to Huo Nanxiao.
Xia Wanwan couldn't help but blame him: "Luo Luo is my own sister. Be gentle with her. Look how scared she is."
“She is your biological sister, that’s true, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she genuinely cares about you,” Huo Nanxiao replied.
Xia Wanwan stiffened: "Nan Xiao, what are you talking about?"
"You and Xia Luoluo grew up together. Don't you know what kind of person she is?" Huo Nanxiao asked in return.
Xia Wanwan said, "Luo Luo is a good person. She is very kind. Did she do something wrong that made you misunderstand her?"
"Misunderstanding? Not necessarily." Huo Nanxiao snorted coldly.
Xia Wanwan said, "It seems that Luo Luo really upset you. No wonder you don't like her. But she's still a child. Don't take it to heart."
"Be careful of her," Huo Nanxiao said, only uttering four words.
